R.I.P. C. J SANSOM. Your work was impeccable. If there is any justice, you will be up there with Shakespeare and Dickens. Total class. Unbelievably awesome. The best writer the 21st century.

Lesser is morer 😄!! He is the master of this form. A very talented actor . He imbues the characters with individuality . The variety of accents is amazing including his Scottish accent which ,as a Scot ,is not as bad as most .

I watched the first episode of “Shardlake”, the sadly, dumbed down tv version of “Dissolution”. Such high standards were set by C J Sansom(RIP) and Anton Lesser. 😢 Just imagine if “Wolf Hall” were given this treatment.

Another excellent book from CJ Sansom. Unfortunately started at the wrong end having read Heartstone and Lamentations first. But it was good to see how things started.

Does anyone know anything about an 8th Shardlake book? It's over 5 years since TOMBLAND* was published.
Anton Lesser. One of the best narrators alive.
He does far more than read the words, He gives a masterclass on what 'voice acting' can be.
I feel lucky to have the first 6 Shardlake novels for free. Only the 7th, *TOMBLAND, is not available (yet?)

Because I’m new to this series I don’t know how it ends… but I sure hope Shardlake hooks up with Guy in London now that he’s no longer with Cromwell or Mark…

I would urge you to reconsider, the series develops Matthew elegantly and by the end it is impossible to not only empathise but respect how he operates within the confines of the law, and lawlessness, of Tudor England.

@@irishpooter I do see your point though, the first two books aren't long enough to fill out the character on their own yet once there's a progression through the series and time has passed, and you have witnessed the trauma he has endured to achieve noble aims Cansom thoroughly redeems himself. Enjoy!

Interesting, I got hooked immediately! Maybe the overall quality of the writing more than only Shardlake, Mr Sansom is certainly one of the best modern writers, Ken Follet pales in comparison
