As a woman who lost a babygirl last year, this is so needed. Not a lot of people know about stillbirths and what it does to a woman. My god I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
I was thinking the same thing, stillbirth is real and it happens more than we know. We as mothers of loss deserve to be heard. I lost my baby girl two months ago.... and I know this pain will never go away.
Lost my daughter 3 months ago, stillborn. Never thought I would see a movie all about this and how it effects the parents. Not sure ill be strong enough to watch the movie for a while, but it looks very beautifully raw, real, and heartbreaking The reality us bereaved parents face every single day. God bless.
As a child of 11, I watched my mother be devastated by the loss of my two month old brother. At the time I couldn't imagine why she was so torn apart. In my mind, he wasn't here that long, how could she just lose herself and abandon her two living children. When I was 20 and gave birth to my first son, the moment he came into the world, I remembered my mother..I completely understood. I was so utterly in love, that love begins before they are here but in that millisecond you see them, you can not imagine life without them. My heart breaks for any woman or man that has gone through this loss. They are part of you, your essence as a being, it doesn't matter if they are born with life..they will always be your child. xoxo

You mean the highly accomplished Molly Parker? She is searchable on Google, you know. Her name WILL pop up. It takes a second and she’s worthy of mention.
I agree I was moved by actress who played midwife acting. When the patient refuse to follow her and everything was going out of her hand. That panic! Amazing acting. She had very less dialogues in the entire movie but her eyes and movements of lips said it all.
@@zipzap570 yes, very well said! You saw the growing panic in her eyes and you saw it increasing & intensifying by the minute. The fear in the court room. Few words, massive performance.
Saw this movie at TIFF. So so so good. Can’t wait to hear what you guys think of it. The first 30 minutes are so special and incredibly well done. The rest is super emotional and all of the acting is incredible.
For those of you who don't know, the first 30 minutes are meant to look like one entire take. Whether it's a simulated one take or actually one take, I don't know because I haven't seen the movie. I'm pretty sure the first 30 minutes is supposed to be of her giving birth.
Just watched this film today and my heart broke. We're so used to see the pain of childloss from a mother's point of view. But this film depicted perfectly how it affects everyone not just the mother. Shia LaBeouf brought me to tears a number of times and I deeply sympathised with him. He was deeply emotional and vulnerable and raw and I loved that!
As a L&D/Pediatrics Nurse, but more importantly as the mother of a Beautiful Daughter who has suffered through no less than 6 miscarriages, this gutted me. I have lived this irl, both personally and professionally, more times than I care to remember. I would trade my life right this second if it would somehow guarantee that my Sweet Girl would have the precious baby that she so desperately wants & deserves. Fortunately she's married to a good man (she found a partner who's *almost* as good as her Daddy is), & I'm so grateful that he has been there to comfort her through this. Although painful, it's good to see this subject matter being examined. Hopefully it'll help to ease the pain & stigma of loss for these mothers of Angel-babies... 🌈👣❤💛💚💙💜
I feel so sorry for the terrible loss that your daughter, yourself and family had to face and cope with. It must be unbearably painful to deal with that, so many times over too. May God bless her with all things wonderful to come her way now
It seems critically divisive from the few reviews we have so far, but I've seen pretty much everywhere that Vanessa Kirby is going to get a nomination at the very least 🙂 People have either really loved it or thought it was too melodramatic.
i think its about women that refuse to have their baby in the hospital instead of having it at home and also those that cant afforded to have it in hospital
6 months ago, i lost my babyboy so I will definitely watch this movie and Special thank to the executive producer and all people who thought about all women in the world who had face this in their lives. Blessings and RIP to all angels. gone too soon 💔🙏🏽
I lost my first grandchild, one of identical twins. It's been more than 7 years, and I'm still struggling to just care about doing things. People generally don't think about grandparents when a baby dies, and they assume the pain isn't too bad. We generally try to keep our grief to ourselves, so we can comfort out children in their loss. To all of your mothers who have lost a child, I am so very sorry for what you have to live with, day by day. To the grandparents, I understand what you're feeling.
When I watched this movie, the opening scene felt so real, all the emotions. I like that this movie tries to show how everyone is dealing with it differently. Martha losing something that was a piece of her for 9-10 months, even Shia LeBouf's character as the father of the child, Ellen Burstyn as the Grandmother, and even the Midwife at the end. Beautiful and tragic story.
I Had A Daughter Some Years Ago & She Only Lived A Couple Of Days...It Hurts. It Changes You, Your Life, Your. Your Everything As Folks Don't Know How To Approach You. Talk With You. Listen. So, I Can Only Imagine Losing a Child In This Way...The Heartache...Great Acting That's So Real... Netflix Is On Point...
This happened to me and my wife, our first children, twin boys, died at birth. It's been many years, but the pain doesn't quite go away even we had another son. Also in our case, there was no clear medical explanation, even after an autopsy and full medical review, as said in the movie. it's often like that. We didn't pursue the case, there was no point, the boys were gone. We had much support from the hospital staff, they were very good. They told us how to try to get closure. We found a compassionate priest(minister) who helped to organize a funeral even they were not christened. I carried their little urn to the lot and dug the grave myself. The stone only has the date of their birth/death. It does help to have somewhere to go and leave flowers or light a candle. What saved us was that we immediately decided to try for another child(we were doing IVF treatments). Our son is a happy healthy boy who brings us much joy. Our lives would have been very empty without him and I have no doubt we would have been divorced now and forever dwelling on the past. When tragedies happen they can break you if you let them or bring you closer together. To anyone that suffers this fate I want to say; hang in there, support each other, it's no one's fault. And do try again, don't lose hope, your life is not over even if it can feel that way. Love and care for each other, and remember that it can be emotionally just as hard on the father, he needs love and comfort too.
I wish you and your family a beautiful life. The past can’t be changed. Keep going forward. I’m pretty sure that your boy is getting all the love a kid needs.
Hello i don't experience this , but i have to say that i cried reading u r words u r a very nice person that you want to share what happen to your family and give advices to people God bless you and your family , iyou guys are what the world need hang on there your doing great
Glad they are making movies like this. Some complain that this is TOO SENSITIVE. Well, this is real life. My condolences to anyone who has lost a baby, or anyone who meant something to them.
Having lost my daughter at child birth, at home, this movie won’t be seen by me. Watching Shia run down the stairs and out to the oncoming ambulance. That was literally me. Nope...
I’m so looking forward to watching this! Vanessa Kirby is incredible!! This heartbreaking story is one that so many women live through; seeing it told to the world on such a raw, personal level with such powerful emotion and pain is truly inspiring and eye-opening.
I am going to be the mean person in this comment section and say it: That is why you should have your baby in the hospital. Nobody should experience that kind of loss and maybe the doctors could not have done anything. But maybe they could have. So I know these days everybody wants to be cool and edgy but please just go to a hospital :)
100% my 2nd son would never have survived if we had been at home he stopped breathing after 5mins and they had him in an incubator for about a week I thank the moment we chose the hospital for delivery.
There was a birthing pool at my hospital in a really none hospital style room and I wish more hospitals did this. It's the best of both worlds you can relax and try to have a natural birth in a relaxing setting but know that if things don't go to plan you are a corridor away from all the medical help you need. I think for most people with an uncomplicated pregnancy having a home birth with a midwife isn't so risky and some say it helps reduce anxiety and leads to a better birth but you can't ever know if you are going to be one of the unlucky ones were something goes wrong. This is why I chose a hospital in the end and would again.
Exactly ! You're not being mean, you're being a reasonable adult. Risking the life of your own baby for some kind of outdated fantasy about home birth is just irresponsible. There's a reason loads of women used to die during childbirth when we didn't have freaking hospitals !
I am ready to be BLOWN away by Shia LaBeouf again, and again and AGAIN. The roles he's taken on over the past couple of years have been so provoking. More so on character development than plot but it's so enjoyable. I feel like it opens a different side of film I've never thought too much of!
Wow. This is needed, issues like this are rarely focused on in movies. Lost my baby last year. Today would have been his first birthday, funny how RUclips suggested it today . He died 3 days after he was born. This movie I will definitely watch.
Omg this looks so good and may help us all understand a little what women go through when they loose a child. Even if they have another ... It will always be a loss we never fully understand. Thank you for this film
My fiancé and I welcomed our first light into this world, January 14th, at 11:37 am. I can’t describe to you all the feeling. We decided a home birth. What an amazing experience! Also, tragically, my sister lost her daughter, my sweet beautiful niece, a few years back. She was only 3 months. This movie is one I want to watch, but I am afraid of the feelings that will come over me. We had a miscarriage prior to our daughter being born. Man, like someone said, this is the kind of movie you want to watch, but you also don’t. I understand. Love OUR children.
I am honestly shook and in quite awe of this trailer... Vanessa is mind blowingly, intensely brilliant just in this 2 minute trailer... Looking forward to this❤️
I've been absurdly happily married for almost 30 years (come January '21), but I was emotionally exhausted after watching "Marriage Story" (the 2019 Scarlett Johansson film). It was brutal. There was no 'feel-good' moment in the entire film. I wish we had read the synopsis before we started watching it, but by the time we realized where it was going we were invested in the outcome. In hindsight, we wished we hadn't finished watching it. Alan Alda was *the only* redeeming character in the entire movie, in my opinion.
Beautiful film, amazing acting, brought me back right there when I lost my son. Showed exectly the feelings, surroundings, it was a good cry much needed ❤️💔
Years ago vanessa played an air hostess on a flight that Charlie Countryman was on. Charlie Countryman was played by Shia. Just a small role lasted a couple seconds. Now he's supporting her.
I am over 65. My Mother had 4 miscarriages and 5 kids. Those children that died before birth still haunt her to a degree. Still she was the best mother and my best friend!
Amazing. As a good movie viewer and also a film producer, i can say that this movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. The script and the adaptation is great and the actors play very naturally and make the audience forget the camera. Vanessa plays incredibly natural and the scene of her labor pain at the beginning of the movie is amazing. Shia is also very good specially his crying scene near the sea. Ellen is gorgeous. By the way, the frame on the wall in the lawyer's room (sarah snook) is the view of istanbul bosphorus. Thanks to all who contributed in this film.
Good for you! As a L&D/Pediatrics Nurse supervisor I commend you for knowing that you don't want/aren't meant to be a parent. It's much better to not have children than to be pushed, guilted, or shamed into having children that you already know, in advance of their conception, that you don't want. You just can't begin to imagine all of the many ways I have seen parents ruin the lives of their children over the course of my career. It's heart-wrenching. Good parenting requires a selfless sacrifice that not everyone is capable of nor willing to make. Kudos on recognizing the fact that not everyone is meant to be a parent. Don't give in into something that you know isn't for you. You don't owe anyone any explanations.
As a mother who has lost two of her three children, I’m both terrified and incredibly curious to see this movie. I will say this-of all the movies I’ve seen so far about miscarriage, infant, or child loss, this one looks to be the most accurate portrayal of what this sort of loss does to the entire family unit as a whole. But it especially looks like it captures the utter devastation a loss like this does to the mom & dad. Fingers crossed that the full length movie is as revealing and respectful as the trailer.
@Rifik Amani Little Woods (2018) Saint Frances (2019) Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020) Unpregnant (2020) Those are just a few films about promoting/glorifying abortion and irresponsibility. They're shallow propaganda films.

I KNEW IT!

One of the most intense movies ever ! The whole cast deserves an Oscar
Ellen Burstyn will forever be imprinted in my mind for her Requiem for a dream role in which she was beyond fantastic.

Just finished watching this... what a film. It's heavy on the tears like Manchester by the sea. Stellar film.

I agree with you!!!!
@@dartheastman1599 I am so glad that he is doing well!

Marriage Story was tv sitcom, this is not
I've been absurdly happily married for almost 30 years (come January '21), but I was emotionally exhausted after watching "Marriage Story" (the 2019 Scarlett Johansson film).

Hopefully you will reconsider... it is my greatest joy having my children

It's nice to see a movie about a woman grieving the loss of her baby and not celebrating it like other recent films done.
