It was time to get away! In October one of my favorite places to fish the east coast is Cape Hatteras North Carolina. This is when the Red Drum run is usually in full effect. Mark and I drove through the night and make it to the beach at first light to wet our lines. This video is day one of our trip!

Love Beach Fishing. ❤️ Thanks for a view of the Sea there. I was hoping to make it ashore there in 2016, to lay a wreath in the Graveyard there to my Friend's Uncle, who was killed on a Fuel Tanker in WW2 Offshore on a Fuel Tanker headed for Britain, but got hit by U Boat Torpedoes. It was his first trip in the Merchant Navy as a Cabin Boy, and he was only 16 years old. Sadly, I never made it, as my Sailboat got attacked in New York Harbour by Wreckers, and she was lost off New Jersey. luckily she was a really tough boat and got me through it alive. Best Wishes. Awesome start to your fishing trip Kurt! Looks like plenty of fish were caught even if they weren't all the size you were looking for. Great advice you gave for any type of fishing, not just surf. It was SLOW! Nobody did well from what we saw
The reds are all inshore in the bay. We haven't had rain in ever and shrimp are thick and piled up inshore.
Been bagging shrimp like you crabbing!

I haven't been surf fishing since I was a kid. I miss it. One question, though. Does "YE!!" give you a few more feet of cast? Haha!!

I personally don't care much for blues to eat, but have had better tasing ones when we bled them right away.
The small ones are fine. Big ones are ok as long as they're fresh. Have to cut off the red meat

Take the legal bluefish cut 2 inches behind the head through the head out for bait that’s how you get to big red Fish
It's definitely good bait!
