Old Bosch Hobby Drill - Restoration? | Workshop DC
Hello Guys, how are you doing?
In this video i show you how to renovate a old bosch Hobby Drill.
This Drill belongs to my father and it have more than 30 years old, it's a very good tool from a very good brand.
Bosch is a brand that produces a lot of electric and non electric tools, as i already said is a company that sells tools with a very good quality for almost every type of work.
So, to begin the renovation i stated by removing the mandrel, after that i use my screwdriver to remove the screws and open the case.
I also remove the stickers, to clean them.
After the disassemble done, i begin cleaning all the case and other pieces with degreaser, some parts was really dirty with a old grease.
To clean electrical motors i always use penetrating oil and a soft plastic brush to do not damage the surface and in the electrical components.
The plug wires and triggers was cleaned with the same process.
I sanded the rotor to make a better connection with the brushes.
Now i Brush Wheel the mandrel to remove the superficial rust and make it more shine.
I Removed some bad casting marks on the plastic and scrapered some parts to make the damaged areas more smooth. I didn't wanted to make a super glossy finish on the surface of the case, i just remove some imperfections without remove the past marks.
I painted the case with a matte Black, 2 coats.
I also straightening the plaque with brand specifications.
The sticker needed a good clean, so i clean them with machine oil, i also laminate the sticker as you can see one of them broke when i remove.
    All done, time to assemble.
The assemble was not that hard but i needed some atencion to plug the electrical conections, and i replaced the old brushes to new ones.
After done i glued the stickers and make a little test to see how it is working.
For me the drill is making less sound than it was before the renovation.
The final result was good and me and my dad was happy with it.
