My puppy is 3 months old, and he’s on day 5 and he’s still here surviving this parvo. He’s still weak and everything. I did take him to the vet and he was prescribed medications. I paid roughly $1,000.00 is dollars with everything we needed. Since we couldn’t afford the 4,500 to keep him at the hospital. Today we took him to his regular vet and he was parvo negative. But he’s still weak and vomiting. But at the beginning of the parvo what I did for him to survive past these days, was syringe feed him with medicated sconce diet food as it was a prescription. I did every 30 minutes for 4 days, no sleep and lots of love, also syringe giving my baby pedialyte clear formula to keep him hydrated. So even tho he’s still weak he is eating on day 5 a bit more and little quantities. Have faith and hope and do your best and trust they can survive. But you do need a veterinarian to help you and follow what they tell you to do. I hope this helps for anyone going through this now. I wish you the best! My baby’s name is Dallas and he’s still here weak and all but still alive after day 5.

Praying for Dallas’ recovery. My Duke has had parvo for 6 days. He’s still alive. He stopped vomiting and hasn’t done diarrhea. Today he started drinking water on his own. I’ve been feeding him chicken broth with a syringe because he refuses anything else. I hope both our dogs survive this virus🙏🏽

I have a unvaccinated pitbull puppy that is 4months old. He was only let out to use the bathroom and he caught it. He started showing signs of Parvo on Thursday night July 6th, one day before his 4month old mark. He was vomiting and wouldn’t take his food or water. I took him to the vet the next day and they confirmed he was positive for Parvovirus. the Vet told me it would be $8000 to keep him in the hospital and I could not afford that or the at home care the vet charged. The vets STILL gave him fluids and enough DONATED medication for up to a week to fight the virus. The hydration and force feeding for him was COMPLETELY IN MY HANDS. I had to force feed and hydrate him throughout the day every few hours. I must say unless you truly can’t Afford it, PLEASE DO NOT TRY AT HOME CARE, it’s very stressful and it will ultimately be a lot harder for the puppy to recover faster than Vet Care. I didn’t have those resources so my story is for anyone that can’t afford it either. I gave my dog Half of my human amoxicillin (I had strep throat the week before so luckily I had it) twice a day, as well as probiotic pills the vet gave me and a medication they gave me called nutramax to take 1 time a day everyday. The fluids I had him on is Alkaline PH+91 Water, Pedialyte, Gatorade and Electrolit Zero. All of these fluids were given to him with half of a Vitamin C pill crushed and mixed with cefpodoxime ( a pill for vomiting) and Minced Garlic. ITS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT HYDRATION AND REBUILDING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM IS KEY, JUST BECAUSE THE DOG DOESNT WANT IT DOESNT MEAN U SHOULD GIVE UP! Get a Syringe and force feed the dog the medicine mixed with the fluids. The Food I had to syringe feed Him was Purina Beyond Immune Support ground meet. (Chicken carrots and celery), I also crushed up blueberries and syringe fed him the juice. IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT, but for your Puppy YOU WILL DO IT (TRUST ME I KNOW!)…doing this repeatedly, my dog stopped throwing up in two days, and he only had liquid diarrhea twice, with no blood. By day three his poop was mushy/Solid.. here we are 4 days Later and my puppy is as normal as ever before, he is Jumping playing and eating and drinking on his own, BUT I STILL HAVE HIM ON HIS MEDICINE. Do not stop giving them medicine, until you are certain the virus is gone. At the end of the day I have learned a valuable lesson,GET YOUR DOGS VACCINATED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO HELP, and Also I learned ASK FOR HELP, even if u don’t have the money, these Veterinarians love these animals and will help as much as they can, had I not asked my baby wouldn’t be here right now! God bless you all and your fur babies and I hope anyone going through this can have a positive outcome like I did, God Bless

My little dashund puppy who I rescued from some questionable people had parvo at 6 weeks he stopped eating and drinking, I knew there was somthing wrong. I knew if this little puppy didn't get any food in him or water he would die. I forced water down his throat and mashed some dog food together and did the same. It was late at night and no vets were open in my city. First thing in the morning I took him to the vet and he was indeed infected with parvo. He was so small and malnourished the vet told me he had a 20% chance of surviving when asking if I would like to continue with treatment. He told me if he makes it through the night, the odds should increase. I saw my little puppy not bigger then a size 4 shoe with a huge needle sticking out his arm and sitting in a huge cold room all alone because of containment. Low and behold he made it. The vet said if I had not forced that water or food he wouldn't of made it. Not saying that anyone should do this , but listen to your puppy and you'll know if somthings up.

Just to inform you. We have a dog who got neurological phase of distemper. Dog was very bad affected. We gave him GISKAN, russian antibodies for distemper, parvo... It saved our dog. Also, we have donated other GISKANs that have left. It has saved another dog from parvo. Dog was very very ill, and as our vet said in no time, after two doses dog came back in normal. In Serbia it costs 15e. It WORKS!!!! If your dog is ill from these illness, search for GISKAN!

She has pointed out so many things that fur parents should soak in. When a puppy begins bleeding, sepsis has set in. Please everyone going through this take the time to read. My puppy has parvo. The moment she became lethargic, stopped eating and drinking, and I saw a bit of white foam. I pushed fluids orally. First off she is 20lbs, so I gave her zofran 2-4mg, and Imodium 1-1.5ml and waited 1 hour before the fluid push. Take a bottle of clear pedialyte and add 2 table spoons of pure sugar, shake well. This is going to help the dog’s sugar levels from dehydration!! VERY IMPORTANT!!
Every 1-2 hours push fluid! ALWAYS DO 2-4ML/CC times dogs weight!! Because she is 20lbs I did 40-80ML/CC. I also gave her vitamin c, vitamin e, probiotics to restore her gut! No matter if she threw up or had diarrhea, I replaced the fluids when it was time! Zofran and Imodium every 8 hours. Vitamins once a day. Anywhere from 40-80ML/CC every 1-2hours!! Your pet will not eat on their own. They don’t feel well, they don’t want to throw up, they are scared, and they are too weak! You have to push fluids slowly! I just saved my puppies from Parvo and I encourage you to try this. As it might save another pets life dealing with Parvo. Write it down, set an alarm to remind you of when to push fluid and meds! Takes up to 7 days!! Just like if you have the flu or covid or stomach bug, you don’t want to eat or drink, but you have to! Dogs won’t! Push fluids slowly so they will not choke.
When they dehydrate, you can pull the skin and if it remains where it’s been pulled it’s a sign of dehydration. Hydrated dogs skin will bounce back! Do a gum test, it will be pink, wet, glistening if hydrated!
Grab chicken with chicken broth baby food, or puppy food canned. Encourage her to want to eat by letting her smell it, keep access to water and food that’s fresh available! She will want to when she’s ready AFTER you’ve done pushed the fluids. They are solely dependent on you. It’s all about timing. Chart your pets behavior. Ask yourself, are they playing like normal? Sleeping a lot? Skipping out on their favorite treat or meal? Not drinking? Have they thrown up or drooling? Drooling is also a sign of dehydration. Grunting while lying down is a sign of abdominal pain. I am not a vet, but I’ve seen many many pets with parvo and saved my own.
I could not afford a vet bill. However, I made sure I got everything I could to save her and she is great! She threw up 3 times, and had diarrhea 4times. Day 5 I was able to cut back some while allowing her to drink and eat on her own, I’ll push fluids when I see she isn’t taking enough. I also do a dehydration test for her. We did not do IV, only oral! This puppy on day 5 was running wild and playing like crazy! Good luck fur parents with your fur babies.

Sharing the things I know about Parvo, hoping in might help (I am based in the Philippines so it might be different)
    Prevention tips:
1.) Once your puppy is already 1 and a half month old which is 6 weeks, have them vaccinated for anti-parvo as soon as possible since parvo attacks puppies that are 0-6 months old and anywhere 1 year below. Any parvo infection within 1 year or above will not be as fatal.
2.) If you cannot afford to get your dog vaccinated, it's best to put them in a cage. It's also best to not let them free both in and out of the house since parvo cannot be seen. If your dog likely licks anything especially slippers, then there is a high risk for parvo.
3.) This is similar to number 2, but isolate them from other dogs.
What to do when dog is infected with Parvo? (Consult your veterinarian if possible)
1.) For food, boil chicken liver for 10-12 minutes in medium heat. Mash and serve slightly hot. It is okay if your dog does not eat because it is normal for dogs that has parvo.
2.) Put dextrose powder in the water they drink to keep them hydrated.
3.) Give them an antibiotic medicine. Although Parvo is a viral infection, it makes the immune system of the dog weak and makes them more vulnerable to other illnesses. Making them take antibiotics helps protect their immue system.
4.) Give them vitamins, the antibiotic protects the immune system while the vitamins improve it.
    Parvo Information:
1.) Parvo is a fecro-oral disease which can be transmitted from poop to a dogs mouth through licking or biting.
    Most cases include:
Stepping in a poop and not washing your feet after and your dog licks your feet or the slipper you wore.
Interaction with other dogs that has parvo. When parvo attacks with dogs that are 1 year or older, they become asymptomatic. For short, they do not show sny symptoms and is not as fatal but can transmit the virus they have to other dogs.

My dog has been upset and he didnt eat, he drank water but not that much, he vomited twice today, first one was like green water and the second one was lime green mucus type vomit, he jad diharheea which was also green, he then pooped normally but still green poop, the vet came to my house and gave him a shot of something for the disease and a shot with vitamin, he said he'll continue tommorow, today were actually his first symptoms. He is like one and a half years old, the vet said he might survive but I'm still worried because he's such a unique and smart dog, he knows how to open gates by himself, learned that by himself and when he was a puppy he would do anything he could to get on the bed.

We spent over 6,000 on his treatment and medication. We still don’t know if he is going to live it through. He is a maltipoodle and weighs under 10lbs . Very tiny . XXXS guy. This concerns me but I have came to the realization there’s not definite answer . I took leave from work to give him at home care after we discharged him last night . He has been eating . He jus does not want to poop at all. No diarrhea, no normal bowl movements . Just simply nothing at all . The doctor said wait it out another day and see if he still doesn’t poop. I’m so heartbroken and confused. Our pup was admitted on Saturday after starting symptoms Friday. By Sunday they said he was keeping small amounts of food down and was eating. By Monday morning he was too far gone to save. What could have happened?

My Doberman puppy is 3 months old. She was fine on Thursday and on Friday had signs of Parvo. Saturday I took her to the vet. She was diagnosed and stayed. She has been there for 72 hours now. She can sit but has zero energy and is aware of her surroundings... she must be force fed, and is on the IV. The Vet said she is still dehydrated.. No longer throwing up.. still has the runs.. however they dont seem to be explosive. Most videos say after 72 hours we should see something. She appears to be exactly how she was when we took her in (except the vomiting). Any thoughts or ideas?

Hi i have a puppie thats three months old. We just lost 2 puppies to parvo. Remus is my puppies name and we havent been able to aford taking him to a vet but we have fuzzie ( like an online thing?) And have been consulting with our vet. Syptoms showed on thur and we immieaditly began surenge him with electroites.. he had runny direah (srry if i misspelled) but ive only seen blood in his stool once other thsn that its been a light brown (like gravy😅 srry) he has been eating , drinking water and even has ran around a bit. Are these all good signs and what else can you reccomend for home treatment. Ive given him a small amount if pepto which ive read can help. He also has been keeping everying down that he eats. Sorry for the horrible grammer😂

Any parvo infection within 1 year or above is asymptomatic.
