Cruising through those snow covered valleys trying to avoid detection reminds me of the Clint Eastwood movie 'Firefox' (1982), where he cruises along the Ural Mountain range in the fictional version of the 'MiG-31' trying to avoid Soviet listening stations that detect and report sonic booms.
That's exactly what I was thinking, such a great scene, especially when he decides to go hypersonic in the mountain range and leaves a trail of destruction behind him. Great SFX especially for 1982.
F-22 infiltration missions are so fun. Just sneaking around and then "whoops, target dead". Of course, it also shows one of the F-22's biggest limitation: the lack of internal weapons storage. I wonder if the stealth drop tank technology being researched to extend its range can also be used to load up more missiles on its wings without compromising stealth.
Stealth weapons pods that open to drop a missile before closing again, letting you use standard AIM-120s or a modern equivalent. They can make a missile with the range of the 120D that's a lot smaller now due to a reduction in the size of the engine needed for the same thrust, might as well take advantage of it. The real question is if they have native stealth air-to-air missiles in the works or not, to allow you to mount them on the outside of the fighter, or if that's even worth the effort. I suspect it may be necessary to modify the payload on a per-aircraft basis to prevent it breaking up the stealth profile of the carrying aircraft in unexpected ways, so weapons pods may be the better bet long term.
@@jakammor4449 They can still get RAM coatings, they do that for the F-35 afaik. I guess it is not as good, but it´s probably better than having a missile with a larger RCS than the fighter itself.
@@martinselame9029 Think of it this way, what would be the mission set of a loadout where you care enough about stealth to use RAM coated externally mounted missiles, but . . . you also DONT care enough about stealth to where you would sacrifice it to have ** Externally mounted Missiles? ** My point being that by the time you are willing to use externally mounted missiles, you by extension must also not care about your RCS, so to put RAM coatings on the outside of the missiles would be completely unnecessary, cuz you already don't care about stealth. You would only run externally mounted weapons if you had already dealt with all Anti-Air weapons the enemy had, negating the need for stealth in the first place. Because before that you would never sacrifice your stealth by even the slightest amount in a heavily contested environment, and afterwards, you are in an uncontested environment where stealth doesn't matter, so the mission set of RAM coated missiles would be completely redundant.
There was a concept by Boeing for a stealthy external weapons pod on a f-18E upgrade. Not sure how stealthy the pod would be. It was supposed to be carried centerline.
This was the strategy used by Klingons in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. A cloaked Bird of Prey which was sneakily beneath the Enterprise fired at another Klingon ship, putting the blame on the Enterprise for the attack. A stealth Raptor is like the 21st century equivalent of a cloaked Bird of Prey.
8:02 that's a cool idea for future videos: try to sneak in formation with the Raptor against different planes and see how close you can get before being detected
This video is officially my favorite. I like the commentary a lot, it's why I subbed to your channel ages ago. Combine that with the radio chatter, the mission scenario, the F-22..... *chef's kiss* Now add Longshot to the mix for the perfect combo 😂
You could imagine how utterly pissed off the enemy's High Command would be when debriefing occurs. All those air patrols and even escorts, only for the important package and it's two special escorts to get smacked out of the sky by an unseen enemy.
*“As far as I'm concerned, there are two kinds of stealth; there's a stealth where you're not seen and there's a stealth where there's no witnesses."* Me Praying for the Flanker pilots to not look down.
I remember playing DiD F22 Raptor back in the day, what a great simulator it was.... you could do a salvo shot, where all your targets would be shot at, at once. Wonder if you could have done that in here? The missions are so much fun to watch, it was like watching a Hollywood action movie from the past. Cheers
Just imagine being in the cockpit of that bomber seeing the missiles streak out from under your own nose. "Damn, the ordnance guys really fucked up our strike package."
I guess, if stealth tech is as good as what it seem, at least in DCS, that putting out people with binocs and radios, the old fashioned spotters like back in WWII will be back in the mix?

I'm addicted to F22 stealth shenanigans
Funny seeing you here
"Would you intercept me, I'd intercept me."
Grandpa Buff: Don't worry kid, you'll get your chance. We all will.
imagine being WAYYY behind your frontlines and a f22 forms up with you 🤣🤣
_Let the kid eat!_
"I'd intercept me SO hard!"
"Put the lotion in the basket"

Wait wasn’t it based on the MiG-25? That was the one that NATO got so scared about that they made F-15

Horrible movie. Lol it was cheesy as hell.

@@TheOriginalFaxon stealth messes with aerodynamics so I would say that missiles wont get stealthy so they could be carried on the outside.

200+ ppl in 3 minutes is crazy fr
2500 in 20 minutes, thats well over 100/minute sustained
It's like a constant Russian air safari above you when you sneak deep in the valleys.
A Su-57 with baby drones must be a very rare species.
Rarer now, now that we know they’re cannibalistic.

General chang used that tactic in star trek 6 , firing while cloaked 👍
F22 upskirt, F15EX vs. EVERYTHING, and A10 scorched earth missions are always entertaining and appreciated. I can't get enough of them.
Lol f22 upskirt? Tf?
Interesting. I liked the comm script.
I agree, brings more immersion into the mission
Your “two idiots” compilations are the best.
It's "Two Morons," not idiots! 😄
Last time I was this early the JSF was still being developed
Ah yes, light stealth and heavy stealth.
“What’s heavy stealth?”
“Nobody can detect you if there is nobody to detect you.”
That’s a VERY small taxiway and parking spots for a 135 to be sitting there hahaha 0:42
Yep! Very satisfying. Thanks
What a beautiful job making that base at the beginning. That looked really great.
Theres something oddly terrifying about 11:36, just looks intimidating
You have indeed scratched the itch GS. Big fan of Stealth interdiction missions.
Reminds me of Star Trek VI when a Klingon ship hiding under the Enterprise attacked Kronos I and the Enterprise got blamed for it.
“It would be a real shame….”, FUNNY! 🤣
Gives me goose bumps seeing that f22 just lurking behind
I kept hearing hitman as hey man.
Like "hey man, this is sentry, patrol of su-27s just passed by behind you"
Make sure to avoid the spotlights in the canyon. If you're spotted, the base will be alerted, and the mission will end in a failure.
Who are you going to pick on next o0 the Mexican Air Force o0 ?? ALL 4 piper Cubs and 1 or 2 Crop Dusters vs the F-22 ??
It still amazes me that the F22 is 80/90's tech. I can only imagine the tech we have now
Fun mission. Nice landing, too!
Love the F-22 stuff. that fighter is pure badass.
2:10 it definitely does bro. Your content is the best! These F-22 missions are my favorites!

i do believe that missions like this exact set up are what the F-22 was designed for, make the enemy look like it's shooting itself down lol
I heard the Jaws theme as you were climbing to engage lol
Yeah, if I spot an F-22 in the air I'm gonna pretend I didn't see anything either.
