    The one and only Disney OST that made me cry. It just feels so deep, especially if you have the connection to the culture even when you're from different Pacific country. The pride as Polynesian is real.

      i have no connection to the culture, but this song flows so deep into you, it can really stir all the feelings inside.
      It is a wonderful song, and everything about it is beautiful. I love it.
      It is so hard to keep the tears inside when i sing it, it makes me feel so free.

      Didnt want to watch it as first as though the animation looked dodgy.. some are a bit off putting.. this has as much as i didnt want it to .. beomce my most favourite disney/pixar etc film ever.. i can walk down the stiars when my 3 years old is playing it and be happy.. for once!!

      The song was used in the Disney movie moana, it may help you in finding a rough translation( if you're a non native English speaker especially). They sang the first part in the native language in the movie, but then switched to English for the rest of it. I'm sure the english version is not 100% accurate in it's translation, but should get the idea.

    God I loved this scene in the movie. Absolutely electric. The sequence, the song, these people just epitomize the human spirit of exploration and adventure. To reflect on the knowledge that thousands of years ago they conquered such a vast and hostile ocean in these canoes and catamarans... it's breathtaking. Mad, mad respect for one of the greatest achievements in human history.

    Proud to be the Pacific Islander from Molo'uku, Indonesia. Molo'uku or Maluku is West Melanesian Archipelago of the Pacific ocean but, sometimes I think we have a very strong connection with other Polynesian people as well. I watched so many videos from Hawai'i, Tahiti, Aotearoa and Samoa then I found that we have a bunch of similarities in Language, Culture, Carving, Arts, Myths, and Habits.

    I have always been fascinated by languages all over the world, especially those that have been around for thousands of years. They all sound like some kind of elvish to my ears, so pure and so charming.
    If I had a wish, I would wish to be able to fluently speak every language that had came into existence since the beginning of time.

      Don't let those cultural appropriation BS affect you! That only applies to those who look down on other cultures or to intentionally mock others. If you genuinely love the culture, and are willing to make effort to learn the language, history, and their way of life, I'm sure you'll be welcome there and everywhere!!
      I'm a Chinese but I know French and I'm learning Arabic and a little Tamazight, I love the middle eastern and north African culture a lot (Islander comes second 😜)! I lived there for a year and all of my friends there support my endeavor and actively help me to achieve it! When I go to the desert and wear the blue turban (which was given by my friends there I learned how to do it properly), I wear it proudly (also if you don't the sun and the desert wind will kill you in hours lol)

    Cela fait plaisir d'entendre une version totalement traduite en tahitien! j'étais frustré de la version de disney (même si je comprends plus ou moins la raison pour l'exportation à l'étranger), mais maintenant je profite pleinement de la chanson. ^^
