I love that people like watching tornado videos on RUclips. Its helps educate people and so on. However I think sometimes you guys underestimate how difficult chasing can be at times. You can be the best in the world but sometimes the storm doesn’t produce. For every 15 mins you see a tornado i would say roughly 8-10 hours (possibly more) are put in logistically. My guess would be that 80% of people who like watching tornado videos would hate it in real life because it’s literally 60% driving, 30% sitting waiting and maybe 10% exciting.
yeah sean missing missions is such a big problem for you, but then the teams all have to wait for you to figure out what's wrong with the DOW when you disconnected a bunch of wires.

The EF scale is fine. It does what it is meant to do well. The NWS could have chosen to rate El Reno EF5 based on the radar data if they wanted to... they're the ones who do the ratings, so it is what they say it is. They say it is rated EF5, then it's rated EF5... no one is going to take them to tornado court to argue it should have been EF3 because that was all the damage survey revealed. Intensity ratings are not a competition between tornadoes where we need to make sure the rules are the same for everyone. The point is to have a best-available estimate of the intensity of the tornado, and if you have more data than destroyed structures, it makes no sense to ignore that relevant information just to stick to a set of rules you made up in the first place. You made them... you can change them at will. You don't need a new scale to just add in "Oh yeah, and we can look at DOW data too if it is relevant" as part of the process. Reality shows, btw, are not real. Don't believe what you see.
@@tid418 El Reno literally was downgraded to a 3 because of damage when DOW truck had it doing 295mph. They still gave the thing an EF3 rating regardless of literal proof that tornado was a EF5 based on wind speed (201mph or higher). EF scale is flawed and for this reason the NOAA is updating it in about 2-3 years. They know it has a flaw and came out with an announcement to address the issue about a year ago. I have spoken with my meteorology professor over it and he says the same thing it's flawed.

He and his team at RAXPOL, the guys that operate the DOWs do a tremendous amount of work and the data they collect is immense. Josh has brought the state of the science forward. He is also a pretty cool dude. Please don't fall for the standard reality tv tricks, nobody involved in this show was actually antagonistic toward each other and the drama plots were largely made up (to a certain extent, some stuff did happen tho)
If you think this is bad, just wait until you find out Josh is now back in the DOW after stealing money from taxpayers to pay down his mortgage. Saying he got a slap on the wrist is putting it lightly.
Season 2 (up until 6:15) was generally really tame with any sort of manufactured drama, much in the same vein as season 1. A lot of these soundbites were concerning how wildly unreliable TIV 2 was in 2008, which was very much a real thing. The Little Rock bit may have been instigated by the TIV side of the production crew, but it at least played into the very real agreements the DOW and TIV teams had. This season didn't drag shit out ad-nauseam like the following seasons. Season 3 and on is where things went completely off the rails. You could make a video twice as long as this with all the insufferable fake shit between Reed and Joel.
These are from a television show, which was wild watching for its time. Got to be 15 years ago now. Josh and Sean had a decade of working together. I'd say these a real storm chasers.
