What scared me the most was ppl saying Kate brought her kidnapping upon herself and that it was her fault. Like WHAT! She’s a literal CHILD! Martin was a grown man and as the adult it’s entirely his responsibility to set the boundary! Tbh I understand why she didn’t tell the public that were in relationship considering how society treats teenage girls. She would’ve been victim blamed and gaslighted so hard.

yes exactly. so because jeanette was creepier then your knowingly-questionable assumption that she saw you should be beat into her & broadcast to the world, meanwhile mallory gets a tinge of shock and tears from you and then u begging her not to go? i get the forgiveness and shit asking her to stay but NOT following it up later with “ok i didnt want u to go but we need to fucking talk about this”, meanwhile she never gave jeanette the time of day until the damage was done. obviously we learned later she was as creepy as she seemed, but kate was still problematic with destroying jeanette over it (since SHE didn’t know jeanette did find her there, she wrongfully assassinated her)- even tho everyone loved kate anyway and didn’t need some story to start hating jeanette, they were already turning on her for kate so it was unnecessary.
Well Kate did know Mallory more than she knew Jeanette so it did make sense for her to go easier on Mallory. Kate didn’t want to let go of that friendship that she had with Mallory especially during a time when Kate was struggling while Jeanette was more of a fan

Although I did find Mallory annoying and was actually rooting for her to be the villain the entire season, I am going to defend her a little and give her the benefit of the doubt because we see in the flashback that she actually does not recognize the person in the window at all and from her point of view it’s completely blocked by shadow and she only sees blonde hair from the back, she only realizes that it was Kate that was in Martin‘s house because when she was discovered it was on the news, which means that Mallory only knew that she saw her in Martin’s house and that it was Kate around the same time that they started becoming friends, she didn’t know while Kate was trapped in the basement, unlike Jeanette. Although it was weird that Mallory didn’t tell her that she saw someone in Martin’s house and then found out that it was actually Kate and that’s the reason that she wanted to become friends, but at the same time I guess she felt bad but also didn’t want it to weird out Kate or make her think that she had something to do with her kidnapping or make her think that she knew that she was kidnapped while she was in the basement

I never felt bad for Jeanette. The scene in episode 1 (?) where Jeanette watched the tape of the separate court testimony (The one with the girl crying and pleading on the stand), and then PRACTICED CRYING solidified it for me. If she wasn’t fully lying, then she wouldn’t have to practice emulating a crying victim.

I have to admit that I knew Jeanette didn’t see Kate but I was SHOCKED to find out that Jeanette knew that she was locked up in the house. I should’ve known because Jeanette broke into the house multiple times, you were bound to find out eventually and the MOVIE scene where she had to pretend to be more “likeable” and Jeanette was copying the movie scene. THAT was creepy and was the first major red flag that I completely skimmed over 😭

It was actually really scary to see how Kate and Martin's "relationship" morphed so much over time. That Hide and Seek scene was TRAUMATIZING and then the Christmas episode like Martin really had it in his head that everything was gonna work itself out

They didn't decide the ending until more than half way through the season so you weren't wrong. Everything was kind of up in the air at first.

@@quizbangandedits1134 I don't think she did. Based on the fact that it was a misunderstanding, everyone involved seemed to forgive each other, and Jeanette was able to wholly heal her reputation (if not make it better), suing a traumatized teenager seemed redundant by the end.
If Kate HAD been lying with ill intent, then I would feel differently, but her blaming Jeanette came from a genuine place of her thinking she was achieving justice.
In the end, Jeanette having ACTUALLY had a level of responsibility in Kate's continued imprisonment kind of ruined the whole moral argument for me, though. Legally, she's been absolved as there's no evidence of her knowing about Kate, but from the all knowing perspective of the audience, she loses a lot of the credibility and compassion she may have had on my original watch through.

There was not a single thing Jamie did in this show that did not infuriate me. First of all, (spoilers) he was dating Jeanette for like months and he was literally in love with her and then Kate reappears and he just punches Jeanette with NO hesitation and I still don’t really get why. Then later, what the hell was he thinking trying to gaslight a kidnapping victim when she literally saw him and Jeanette kissing?! And also him drinking on Kate’s birthday led to Kate’s kidnapping, AND his drunk driving messed up Ben’s shoulder and led to Ben and Vince’s breakup! How do you mess up SO many things in one show?! It ALMOST makes me feel bad for Jeanette because she’s stuck dating him now.
Anyways Kate and Vince can do no wrong and Jeanette is evil and I do not want to spend another moment of my life thinking about her anymore.

I knew Jeanette did some shit by the look on her face when Kate's friend said she was alive and when she said "they found her body". What normal and innocent person says that....Also I want s2 to go into why Jeanette specifically kept going to Martin's house (also why would she announce herself each time like he would be cool with her having a key??) and also what Mallory meant by "we don't need another Kate Wallace." Kate wasn't a mean girl so that comment made no sense.
I think Jeanette definitely tells on herself by saying "found the body" because the night before she was so so freaked out about the gunshot, she couldn't have guessed Kate was dead without already knowing that she was in an extremely vulnerable position

the whole wanting to be a popular girl thing phased out of me by high school so i find jeanette really childish for wanting it since she has really good friends but ANYWAY they both went through emo phases because of this whole situation and i for one think it's so daunting that this show is doing as well as it is because PRETTY LITTLE LIARS WAS SUCH A CULT THING. in conclusion im excited for season 2.

I don’t like Mal. The whole I’m edgy, I’m so different act is annoying to me. I also don’t think Kate should have forgiven her so quickly. I don’t trust Mal’s excuse at all, “I keep it to myself because I didn’t wanna expose you” my ass. If she was a good person she would have told Kate that it wasn’t Janette Kate saw, it was her, cause than Kate would have dropped the accusations against Janette like she did at the end of the show. Instead I believe Mallory keep it to herself because she liked seeing Janette suffer. Mal knew damn well she was the one that saw Kate, but would always act like Janette was the bad guy (even though in a way Janette is) Like for example referring to Janette as a “psycho bitch from hell.” Mal liked seeing Janette suffer because she was jealous of how infatuated Janette is with Kate, which is why she hated Kate so much. Another reason is she was afraid that Kate would drop her if she told her what happened. I mean the fact that Mal started packing to leave just solidifies that she knows she was in the wrong.
Mallory definitely liked seeing Jeanette suffer cause she was upset that Jeanette said she didn't want to be her friend anymore!
i’m just happy they didn’t over sexualize kate being groomed unlike how they did with pretty little liars. jamie’s white passing self threw away his life for no valid reason and deserves the worst. and the way jeanette’s crazy behind dropped mallory was literally enraging. AS FOR SEASON 2, imma need to see more of the sister ashley (and her mother we never saw), jeanette’s mother, and vince w his lil relationship.

It literally might not even be intentional and might be an acting mistake. I’m Texan and honestly when you spend some time around people with a heavy southern accent (usually older relatives), you just catch on a bit and speak back that way. You never notice when you do it. Olivia Holt probably just didn’t even know she was picking up the southern accent when doing scenes with her mom

PROTECT VINCENT AT ALL COSTS 🥺 hands down - one of my favorite characters from the show. i just adored him like immediately to be honest. loyal to a fault. stuck between a rock and a hard place being friends with two sociopaths aka jeanette & mallory OBV then being strung along by ben like ugh 🤦🏽♀️ 🙄 he deserves so much better. periodt.

I somehow knew Kate was wrong and hiding something, but I liked her and was rooting for her. I thought Jeannette was strange, but I had no idea how deep her insanity really went. The reveal at the end really shook me and I had to close my laptop lol
I knew Jeanette was creepy since day 1, her looking at Kate like she wanted to be in her skin was enough for me. I tried to be neutral but she did not make that easy.
Mallory was my least favorite character from day 1, her energy was so jealous try to hard to be different! I met tons of girls like her in highschool.

I was #teamkate from day one! I knew something was wrong with Jeanette just from the weird stuff she was doing and the way she acted. I figured Jeanette did see Kate and at the last minute in the finale, I was jumping up and down yelling "I knew it"! I was glad that it was even worse than I expected. Jeanette hearing Kate pleading with her and saying Martin locked her in the basement was heartbreaking and such a good twist after revealing that Mallory saw Kate and not Jeanette. Such a great show.
I only felt bad for Kate and Vince.
I wish we could have seen HOW Jeanette took over Kate’s life. We only ever got bits and pieces from before and after…because she’s a weirdo. At what point did Jaime ask her out? When exactly did Renee and Tennille start hanging out with her? I just think for a show to try so hard to be realistic we are missing key moments of character development regarding Jeanette’s induction into social popularity. We’re always being TOLD that she did it, but we are never shown HOW. ugh.

As someone who've never trusted Jeanette, that ending was pretty satisfying! And I'm glad my girl Kate, Vincent and Angela were ok in the end (I didn't hate jeanette's mum either). Overall, this was a damn good show. #TeamKate
