this is what I did for the grisha-verse, watch the (first season) of show first, then read six of crows. that way you know the lore and you know what the characters look like them you can rewatch the show after reading the duology and it was have so much for meaning!!
Omg thank you so much for the Shadow hunter series orders because I had no clue how to read them no matter where I looked, so the images of all the books in bunches helped me so much! Thank you. ♥️
There are also two sequels in the Grishaverse called Rule of Wolves and King of Scars. You need to read both the SOC books and Alina's story to understand them. They follow Nina, Zoya and some other characters two years after Crooked Kingdom. And then there is a little companion book with fairy tales from the Grishaverse.
I will take this video as my greenlight to start TID! I thought I had to finish TMI before starting, but I am so glad that I don't have to! Thank you for making this video Sunny!!!
I literally just picked up some beautiful hard copies of the mortal instruments and the infernal devices at a used bookstore like an hour ago for $10!!!! Can’t wait to read!
SUNNY IM ON BOOK 2 OF A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC AND IM COMBUSTING i feel the exact same as you that slow burn and build up is ten times better than when characters actually get together and kell and lila are feeding my soulllll

Thank you for this!!! I have the first 2 books of the Infernal Devices, but I was so confused because I didnt know if I should Mortal Instruments first.
I read the Shadowhunters chronicles for the first time using option B. I still haven’t read TDA. Now that the last book of TLH is out, I’m reading the books in chronological order: TID, TLH, TMI, TDA. I’m currently on Chain of Thorns and am loving reading the series this way ❤. Also just found out that Six of Crows is getting a third book!
I’m surprised shatter me was not on here, and I’m also disappointed that most of these haven’t been updated since 10 years ago. Can we get new series 😭😭😭
i don't think it'll be confusing... the last hours trilogy follows the main characters children from the infernal devices, and the infernal devices takes place before the other series in the shadow hunters world. so basically tid & tlh are connected but you won't be confused if u don't read anything else.
do you know if the shadow and bone show has spoilers for books 2 and 3?? cause I haven't finished the books, but wanna watch the show without getting spoiled
hey idk if anyone is thinking about starting the folk of the air (tfota) by holly black but here's a suggestion i have! holly has another faerie trilogy from the early 2000s called the modern faerie tales [tmft] (composed of tithe, valiant, and ironside) which she highly suggests reading before tfota. this is because there are characters in tmft that make cameos in tfota (and one of the characters, named roiben, has a significant role in twp and tqon). but similar to how sunny recommended reading soc before s&b, i think it's best to read tfota before tmft, bc tmft may turn you off from reading tfota (and bc tmft was published in the early 2000s, there's some stuff in there that'll give you the ick). also, holly has another standalone book called the darkest part of the forest (published in 2015) that is faerie centered, and i've heard ppl say online that the standalone is vaguely connected to tmft and tfota (and should be read between these series) but if you choose not to, you won't lose much. holly's suggested order is the modern faerie tales, the darkest part of the forest, then the folk of the air. do what that what you will
Can someone explain to me the kiss of deception/dance of thieves order and spoilers? Like can I read dance of thieves first without getting spoiled for the kiss of deception? Are there main spoilers about how it ends or who the main character ends up with? I want to read both the series, but right now I only own dance of thieves and I really want to read it but I don't wanna get spoiled. Should I wait until I get the original trilogy?
I read the dance of thieves duology first and loved it! Understanding wise it’s easy to read. I also want to read kiss of deception and haven’t yet so I’m not sure about spoilers but I think you’re good on reading either one or both on their own!
Ahahaha me neither, I found out watching cari can read's November wrap up, saying that it was the reason the start of dance of thieves was so confusing😅
this was so good 😭🫶 also the way i read the infernal devices first, books 1 and 2 of last hours, and THEN dark artifices 🫣 i just could not get into mortal instruments lmaoo
this is what I did for the grisha-verse, watch the (first season) of show first, then read six of crows. that way you know the lore and you know what the characters look like them you can rewatch the show after reading the duology and it was have so much for meaning!!

I've read most of the Cassandra clare books that's what I'd recommend they were definitely the best
