    We actually do put sugar in the sauce in italy BUT STRICTLY ONLY IF THE TOMATO SAUCE IS TOO ACIDIC, which generally means that the tomato sauce is simply not good quality unfortunately...
    Good quality tomato sauce shouldn't be acidic enough to require any sugar; if your tomato sauce is noticeably acidic you might want to switch to another brand

      I'm from Russia, and my mom sometimes cooks pasta, but she makes the sauce HERSELF from our tomatoes (we have a vegetable garden) and never adds sugar there. of course, there is an exception when she made canned food for the winter and added some sugar to it, but only so that it would not deteriorate during storage

      I'm Italian and I have never seen anyone put sugare in the tomato sauce. If you feel the need to use SUGAR to reduce the acidity of the tomatoes, then you are really using trash-quality tomatoes.

    It's acceptable to add just a pinch of sugar in your tomato sauce IF yout tomatoes are a little too acidic, but if you cook it properly you shouldn't need it.
    In the north of Italy it's perfectly acceptable to drink cappuccino in the afternoon. A lot of my friends have it, and nobody has anything to say about it. I don't really know about other parts of Italy, though. The real "NO NO" is having cappuccino after a meal.

      I drink cappuccino, all hours at my house, (I'm from Rome), but if I'm away from home, I usually take either a macchiato or a normal coffee if I'm like in a restaurant... perhaps it is a tradition that I carry from my grandmother's house since she does not drink milk...

    OK i wanna talk. I'm italian and we are not that strict in general(at least the new generation). If it's needed you can put a little bit of sugar in the tomato souce, but if the souce is good or hommade (i'm from the south of italy(naples) and my family do tomato souce from our tomatoes every year, but that's not common, expecially in the north) you don't need it. There are some people that eat spaghetti with spoon, but it's not common.(My grandpa does it and some children too). I've never tested pinapple on pizza, but i want. In italy we eat pizza with thousands of toppings (for examples i love pizza with corn, ham, mozzarella and cream). Most of the italians from the old generation do not like this "new versions", but we do. Cappuccino is generally drinked in the morning, and if you drink it with pasta for instance, it's strange. If u drink it in the aternoon or in the night it's not strange. I'm very mind opened on everything except for ketchup on pasta. In my opinion ketchup it's a shit in general, but on pasta it's the worste thing ever.

      Infatti, mai sentito i nostri compaesani lamentarsi tanto per queste cose. Io la pasta con il cucchiaio la mangio perché è comodissimo. La salsa la facciamo anche al nord ma dipende dalla famiglia, dipende se sei uno che preferisce le cose fatte in casa o meno. La pizza all'ananas la voglio un sacco provare, visto che ho mangiato quella alle pere, noci e gorgonzola ed era fantastica. Comunque non so te, ma io mi innervosisco più per come mangiano i tedeschi che per gli americani AHAHAH

      @@ecilapottu8859 Le bottiglie di pomodori fatte in casa ormai quasi nessuno le fa più, proprio perchè i contadini sono in percentuale nettamente inferiore. Credo che al nord la percentuale sia veramente minima. Onestamente a me non da fastidio se in altri paesi mangiano di merda, anzi, mi sento fortunato a essere nato in italia e soprattutto figlio di mia madre (che è cuoca).

      Esattamente soprattutto sul fatto del cucchiaio, io personalmente lo uso è semplicemente comodo non c'è niente di male non capisco perché a volte si arrabbiano quando vedono gli altri utilizzare il cucchiaio 💀

    I am an American that studied in Belgium and the Italian students thought it was so funny that in Belgium they sell ravioli in a can. They said they would never have canned ravioli in Italy. We also have canned ravioli in America though.

    different cultures can be so strict with their food/drink habits. I remember living in Belgium at dorm, I offered juice to Spanish friend at like 5pm. she was, no no no, juice is for the morning why do you drink juice now?

    I’m from the north of Italy, to be honest I think the cappuccino thing is a thing of the south. I’ve had cappuccino after lunch, and I’ve seen it fairly frequently in bars and nobody raised an eyebrow at that. But in Rome they are quite sensitive about the topic and baristas will indeed scold you if you ask for a cappuccino outside of the “designated” time

    Actually in Italy sometimes it's possible to adjust the tomato sauce with sugar if it's too acid. But just a little when you're cooking it.

      Instead of that you should try cherry tomatoes, they're perfect on Pasta, they're the perfect balance between acidic and non-acidic and sweet/salty. Just don't put too much salt otherwise it tastes just like standard tomatoes

    About socks and sandals, we have a word for it: "scandali" (calze + sandali), and it works even in english (scandals)
    So, remember: SOCKS + SANDALS = SCANDALS
    About the sweet cappuccino with strange things on it: we should import it in Italy, they're perfect for breakfast 😍
    In Oregon I tried honey and lavander cappuccino, it was delicious 😍

      I'm sorry,but I'm Italian and if I want to put socks under my sandals because it's too hot for shoes but too cold for sandals+bare feet I'M GONNA DO IT and there's nothing you can do about it! 😤 You know what freaks ME out and I can't see how so many people can do it without blinking an eye?!?Wearing no socks under shoes or wearing socks so short that it LOOKS like you don't have them!To just see a bare thin ankle popping out a massive shoe literally gives me SHIVERS 😖 and I'll never understand how people can be such jerks about sandals+socks and then accepting *THAT* horror without questions!

      That's true but creative doesn't always mean good! Sugar in the sauce is additional sugar that your body could really do without. Ketchup on pasta is the same thing
      Pineapple on pizza is fine and I say that as an italian, I don't like it at all but the flavors work for some people.

    My nonna and nonno were both born in Italy and lived there until their late teens. Both of them were from the south and always used a spoon to eat their pasta (you roll it on top of the spoon instead of doing it on the plate). My nonno even joked how my brother and I disappointed him since we didn't use spoons to eat our pasta. So I think the use of the spoon depends on the region. What you should NEVER do is cut up the pasta. THAT will for sure make a true Italian upset.
    Also, it's perfectly acceptable to add a spoonful or two of sugar to your tomato sauce if it's too acidic. Tomatoes are different depending on where in the world you live and what season it is. Personally, I adjust the acidity of my tomato sauce by adding sugar and baking soda and it comes out delicious every time.

      It's not a regional thing it's more of an "etiquette" thing. Here in italy only older folk do it and strictly at home. It would be considered rude to do it at a restaurant and I have this memory of a family dinner at a restaurant with both my maternal grandparents and my paternal grandmother; since my maternal side was more "lower class" my grandad would use the spoon to eat spaghetti, nobody else did it in his family though, not the daughters nor my grandmother. I remember the shock of my paternal grandmother seeing my grandad use a spoon; she didn't say anything but you sure can bet she was thinking about saying something.
      So if you want to look like an old italian dude with a wifebeater and a cross necklace, eating spaghetti while watching football on television then yeah go ahead and use a spoon!
      The sugar thing is true, even us italians may do it and it is not socially unacceptable BUT ONLY IF THE SAUCE IS NOTICEABLY ACIDIC (which unfortunately either means that the sauce is bad quality or that it is overcooked). If your sauce is too acidic go ahead and use a small amount of sugar but a better idea would be to switch brands or be careful to not overcook it. Tomato sauce should be cooked with the lowest possible flame.
      And yeah we don't cut pasta, if you want short pasta there already is short pasta available, long pasta is supposed to be... long

    I'm Italian, of the South, and in the sauce I put only salt, never sugar nor have I ever heard someone put it. Already many times the sauce is very sweet, sometimes not even so strong the taste without salt, God forbid I also put sugar in it. When I saw this thing of sugar in sauce in American films, not even in Italian shows with cooks on TV, I never heard anything other than salt, I was very amazed.
    The cappuccino, on the other hand, I also drink at 11 in the evening if I feel like it, there is no time limit for me.
    However, pasta on ketchup is not only American as a thing, but also English, at least as a stereotype.

    It’s perfectly allowed add a very little bit of sugar in the recepy of tomatoes sauce. The reason is to regulate the acidic of tomatoes.

      You should use the best quality of ripe tomatoes, than you need no sugar. Some ketchups have more than 50% sugar added. Never compare ketchup with original Italian tomatoe sauce.

      yes, correct, a "coffee spoon" of sugar in a 5 litres pot of sauce is acceptable if you want to correct the acidity (not all the tomatoes are the same, and sometimes depends even the age of the plant, the type of terrain, the type of water, if rained or not, so is ok to correct) but it never should becomes sweet

    I always go out with my hair wet in Italy xD the sun dries it quicker than any hair dryer would. I've never gotten stares, but then again, I've only ever worn my hair wet in beach towns, where it's no issue, ppl just assume I must have been swimming recently.

    actually, I'm Italian and I use a spoon and fork to eat spaghetti.. and I know for sure I'm not the only one, it's just less common 😅
    but actually, I think it's less messy and somehow it just gives me a more "polite" vibe 🤣

      Anch'io uso il cucchiaio. Infatti il mio nonno mi ha sempre insegnato di fare così. Ho visto anche alcune persone che da bambino usano il cucchiaio, poi quando sono più grandi usano solo la forchetta

    As an American who has traveled all over the US, I can clearly say that I have never seen an American put ketchup on pizza. I know Russians and some Mexicans do use ketchup on pizza.
    This channel must do a real video about what not to do in America. So many foreigners come to the US and commit so many errors it is crazy.

      As an American I have seen Ketchup on pizza in Mexico, and Cuba, but never seen Ketchup on Pasta. I've seen people put ketchup on eggs in the U.S.

    I was raised in an Italian American family in New Jersey... A couple years ago I moved to New Mexico and I was honestly disturbed lol to see people eating pizza and pasta with ranch dressing. In New Jersey, that would definitely be a faux pas. I do not understand it. But it's a thing out here. Even with mozzarella sticks, I have to specifically ask for marinara sauce or else I will get ranch dressing.

      Omg i’m so sorry to hear that 😭 lololol I grew up in jersey so i can only imagine how much you must miss good italian food. I live in one of the old-school italian-american neighborhoods in brooklyn so i’m really spoiled by good italian food and groceries stores / butchers. Probably the best you can get outside of Italy. I have to say NJ beats most of NY state when it comes to Italian food though.

      I personally know Italian restaurant owners in different parts of the world and everyone says the same thing: "I can't cook real Italian food because people think that's not Italian" let that sink in.....😂

    Fun fact: I'd learn to eat Spaghetti as a kid in Italy 50 years ago - with a fork and a spoon. In this time it has been a normal behavior. That changes in the late eighties.
    It's like eating asperagus in Germany. Before the eighties it's a no go to eat it with a fork and a knife (only fork is aloud), now it's normal.

    I was born in the Bronx, New York (the northern part of New York City, right above Manhattan) and I grew up & still live in the suburbs right above. I grew up with good pizza, when I was in elementary school I really liked Sicilian pizza. When I went to university I discovered Chicago pizza & really liked it. And when I was in my 40s I discovered Hawaiian pizza - I had never tried it because it seemed so crazy and different but I was shocked that I really liked it.

    I'm brazilian and here people put ketchup on a lot of foods, and pasta and pizza are two of them. I personally don't like ketchup, so I don't put it on anything. I prefer to make a tomato sauce myself. But if you go to more traditional pizzarias here there's only olive oil and they will frown if you ask for ketchup.
    About the pineapple pizza, one of the best pizzas I had was a pineapple and smoked turkey breast pizza. That's not an uncommon type of pizza in Brazil, since we have lots of toppings, including shredded chicken, requeijão (a type of cream cheese we have here) and many more weird toppings. We have sweet pizzas too, like chocolate, chocolate and strawberry, chocolate and shredded coconut, nutella and banana and many more.
    Of course, more traditional pizzarias stay away from those odd flavors.

    As an Italian who lives in Italy I tell you you can also order cappuccino in the afternoon but it absolutely should not be taken while you are eating, Certainly not in the evening.As for sugar on tomato sauce,You can use it if the tomato is too acidic but no more than a pinch Basically the same as you would add salt but I guarantee that if you cook the sauce at a low temperature rather than a high heat it won't be so acidic.Regarding white socks, they can be tolerated if you play tennis or if you are dressed completely in white, otherwise avoid them And as you said, absolutely not with sandals :-) Then for the rest we are quite tolerant and we understand that you are not Italian.But for sure we are horrified or feel bad lol

    where I live, ketchup on pasta and using a spoon for pasta is seen like a kiddie thing, like any adult who can't eat pasta with just a fork with at best get teased in a "do you also need mommy to cut the pasta?" way, and at worst relentlessly mocked for ti, and in kids is okay cuz, you know many younger kids have problems with forks.
    Ketchup with pasta... is not a thing as far as I can tell, some kids may add it to their plate (and too many dishes) precisely because it's sweet and they like it, but it's not added to the sauce itself, but most older people wouldn't be caught death putting ketchup in anything other than nuggets, fries, burgers and hotdogs (which maybe not so coincidentally are stuff you more often than not, found in the kid section of menus.)

      Food is not just food...maybe it is only that to you, but food is a very important social and traditional thing, depending on the person and the country, of course, but here (Mexico) there's a saying "Food is sacred" roughly translated, meaning at your job no one can mess with your lunch time, also that it is part of traditional celebrations and religious celebrations as well, so it has lots of importance, don't forget the status points it gives too...bottom line, food is one of the most important parts of life and culture.

      Italian here, I don't like pineapple on pizza myself but I have no real issue with it; it's simply my distaste for sweet+savoury combinations
      My ex girlfriend had a real talent for cooking, she could recognize what flavours went well together and when somone told her that "foreigners" put pineapple and ham on pizza, to try and shock her, she instead said "sounds delicious".
      Pineapple on pizza is so divisive because it's one of those flavours that some people really really dislike, like me. It tastes so weird and unpleasant that it almost looks inconceivable to them. People's taste is a strange thing; for some people bananas are a treat for me bananas make me gag

    About the sauce it depends. In general if the quality of the sauce is high/good you don't have to put sugar. If it's too acidic you can put a little spoon. In general it's better and healtier not to use sugar

    The American girl is not from the Northeast. I am from NY originally with my maternal side is Italian! I grew up with just the fork only eating spaghetti. I saw spoons in European countries outside Italy but I twirl my spaghetti very well like anyone in Italy. Ketchup on pasta depends on the. nationality. I cooked sauce in the UK! I taught there for 10 summer. I got cheers and more from the Italian students and French for my sauce because they were not a fan of English food. My paternal side is Irish and it is similar to English but of course my dad was American. The Russian students did not have my sauce some of them. They wanted strawberry sauce or ketchup. I thought that was gross!! Italians in the USA make fun of non Italian Americans on their Italian food cooking. My father's side used jar sauces like Ragu. Ragu in the USA was awful.
    My mom cooked and made her sauce with Puree like passata di pomodoro. I loved redpack tomato puree!! Best in the USA. I lived in Italy for 3 years. I tasted the passata di pomodoro and said thank God!! I can cooked a sauce. In other countries in Europe, I only found it in large supermarkets like Tesco in the UK. A big one because there was not too many. In the UK like the Irish by ancestry in the USA or in Ireland and UK think it is all the same to them. Jar ready made sauces and Puree cans or passata di pomodoro.
    Now I get passata di pomodoro in the USA, more expensive only because in case they use chemicals. When I was in Italy, I cooked the same and ate a lot but lost weight!! Eating almost a pound of pasta a day or in the afternoons but in the USA not it does not happen. I cook the same and it comes out the same my sauce!! Something is wrong. Pineapple on pizza started in Hawaii not surprising and spread to NY NJ late 80s and early 90s. Italian American families mostly prefer salami or a type of pepperoni or sausages or other toppings. Non Italian Americans some liked it that I saw it in the UK saying American style or even sweet corn on Pizza saying NY style. I never saw corn on pizza in the USA or corn in tuna fish or anything like that like in the UK. Pineapple I would never put fruit on my pizza!!

    Yes we add a pinch of sugar to the tomato sauce. We do that to regulate the acidity of the tomatoes.

    My father is italian, I dunno if this accounts for anything but I never heard of using a spoon to assist in spaghetti consumption….except maybe uppercrust white/Brit/non-southern Europeans thing to do? I don’t think our family marinara calls for sugar since the recipe calls for prepping the tomatoes or which canned kind to use which will not need sugar either…..? Ketchup I have never heard of anywhere near Italian things except pizza… In Turkey, or anywhere else outside Italy and US (to my knowledge) serves “pizza” with ketchup and mayo. 🤢

    I'm not Italian, I'm Catalan, but I lived for a while in Rome (I speak Italian too) and well, I'm Mediterranean too, so we share some cultural stuff, like what she said about not wearing socks with sandals, that's sooo wrong! And people do go out with the hair wet from time to time, but we are always told we shouldn't do that cause of what Jordy said, they say we can get a could, so we usually dry it as well.
    I've seen some people put ketchup on pasta and on a pizza, which I despise, I hate that, but some people do... I'm sorry Italians but we use the spon😅. And about pineapple as a topping, yes, there's the same fight over here. Personally I think it shouldn't be a topping, in fact I don't even like the taste of it, so I don't want it on my wood oven made pizza with a thin crust, which is the kind of pizza that I like, the real kind😊✌🏽.

    Just to point out two things:
    I don't know if that is a valid reason for everyone, but the fact that we tendentially do not drink cappuccino after 12am in Italy, or at least it's not a common use, is probably tied to the normal digestion process that for us is extremely important, always generally speaking. Since in cappuccino, and not only in that kind of morning drink, you find a fair amount of milk, we tend not to drink it the more we get close to bedtime cause it's a pretty hard ingredient to digest, and you wanna be sure your body has digested all the food and drinks, or most of 'em, that it assumed during the day.
    The second point's aimed at answering the question I've found quite often here in the comments: "why is it that offensive for italians to see people cutting pasta?"
    ...well, let's make an example here. Every single shape of pasta has its roots in hundreads and hundreads of years in our history, and every single one of those 300 kinds, and more, originated in a specific area instead of the other, addressing various dynamics that led to the birth of their peculiar shapes, created and, initially hand-crafted in certain ways, both for artistic reasons, but also according to the cultural identity of that specific place, making them even more unique.
    Also, even if this should already be enough to answer that question, I'd still like to add another thing, specifically considering the fact that, out of all those shapes, people tend to cut spaghetti more often. In this particular case, it is worth noticing that, in orther to understand where that disappointed feeling of ours comes from, to make those long strands of pasta, it takes pasta-makers around 15 hours of their lives each time. And that's one of the other reasons why it is often perceived as being offensive and disrespectful to their efforts and, consequently, to our culture, added to the uncomprehensible act of buying a long-shaped pasta knowing you're gonna cut it when you have a bunch of short kinds available.
    With that being said, I hope I made everything clear and that people will hopfully stop seeing italians as a group of people who simply like to randomly complain about stuff. The only reason why we do keep complaining is actually a matter of always having to repeat the same things cause people just keep sharing disinformation about a specific culture, that, in this case, happens to be the italian one.
    Thank you for having read so far and sorry for this poem, but I felt it was necessary😅

    Why, i actually use the spoon to eat every kind of long pasta; i can also eat without a spoon but i feel more comfortable using it. I think using the spoon is something you do or not depending on your family: i mean, if your parents use to eat spaghetti with the spoon, growing up you're likely to learn using it too. It's true that not many italians use the spoon but it's not something unheard of.

    There can definitely be some sugar in tomato sauces, just saying. Like Callie says, in neutralises the acidity and makes it more rounded in taste. (Also, I have personally put ketchup on pasta but that's obviously when we don't have any pasta sauce lmao, like when I eat just meatballs and pasta or something. If you have a perfectly fine carbonara you shouldn't dump ketchup on it lol. AND I have had pineapple pizza in Italy lmao, to be fair in a touristy area around Venice but still. It exists. They do side-eye you as your order it though lmao.)

      Hmm… as an Italian my heart is breaking 😭 I think that if you have good quality ingredients and if you balance all the ingredients correctly, pasta sauces aren’t acidic at all. If Italian people add a tiny little bit of sugar to their sauce (which I’ve personally never seen but who knows) it’s usually just because they’re cooking the sauce with ingredients they have to get rid of, old stuff they have at home which isn’t that good anymore. And ketchup on pasta is just an abdomination… 😂. In Italy we have pizzerias literally at every corner, they are so many. So I’m sure some places sell pineapple pizza. But TRUST me, ALL of these places are either run by a foreigner, or very bad pizzerias that just target tourists (which are very few). I’ve never personally seen a pizzeria that sells the Hawaiian pizza, but my friends told me that they saw one once so I’m sure there are some… but no Italian would ever approve

Palermo is a touristic place, I've seen only 2 Pizzerias in the entire city(Palermo is huge) 2 Pizzerias out of maybe 100 Pizzerias, that's still nothing. Besides Palermo(again, touristic place) you'll NEVER find Pineapple Pizza or any ruined Pizza

      What region of the United States has this idea that putting ketchup on pasta is acceptable. Or maybe this is a Canadian thing please say it’s Canadian. Never have I ever seen anyone in all my days put ketchup on pasta. And my sister’s husband and her whole family are ketchup fiends but they would never put it on pasta. There are lines that should never be crossed.

    Fork and knife for pasta for me. 90% of people around me use the spoon, but I was raised with the knife. With the spoon, I always end up with a roll too big. Difficult to get the exact amount I want. Even worse with rolling on the side of the plate. I might end up with the whole plate on my fork if there is not enough room to manoeuvre there to begin with.
    The spoon might help when the pasta is too slippery, when it does not stay on the fork. But so does the knife. Round knife, and please, don't cut the pasta.
    A more serious question would be : in Italy, what should your roll of pasta on your fork look like ? Is a pending "tail" ok, or do you need to produce a perfect roll with not a centimetre of pasta pending ?

      If the tail is short it’s acceptable even in a semi formal environment, like a meal at the restaurant with friends or family. But if you end up with a very long tail (basically too long to enter in your mouth in one go), you probably took a too large amount (or you didn’t roll it enough) 😉

    The thing people don't realize is that pizza is not a traditional food in central and northern Italy. Focaccia is. Pizza became popular throughout Italy relatively recently, perhaps in the last 30 years.

    OMG I'm one of few Italians who hasn't used a haidryer in like, 10 years and I'm totally fine with that!
    I was a little sad that she didn't explain the myth of the "CERVICALE" 🤣 (basically it's like, if you go out with your hair wet you're going to get neck pain from the humidity close to your joints or whatever - doesn't work on me apparently but my mom's still going on about it even after all this time!)

    Many resteurants in italy give you a spoon if you order spaghetti alla whatever. I never get spoon in europe outside italy.

    It might sound weird but I never heard the white socks thing other than here and on another channel in a video with the same topic. I mean I sometimes wear white socks and never questioned it to myself. I did hear of the fact that having sandals or flip flops with socks is kinda cringe to someone and other people consider it old people's behavior or a "German people thing" I also heard that.
    Eating spaghetti with a spoon and a fork. Actually it's true that it's reaaally rare to find someone doing that but maybe that's just because it's more boring and unnecessary, you can just get your handful with a fork. Even if this is true, I never thought it was a "don't" thing. My grandparents told me it was a really polite thing to do actually, but kind of old. A big no no though is to tear spaghetti apart before putting them in the saucepan.

    the main problem with too many toppings is that the main dish should be the Pizza, not the toppings. what's the point of getting a pizza if you going to stick 1kg of meat on top of it? get a sandwich at this point. all the ingredients should be in harmony and putting too many would end up only stuffing your mouth and nothing more, but this doesn't mean that you can't have pizzas with lots of ingredients (have you ever heard of "Capricciosa" or "4 stagioni"?)

    The SOCKS! That is totally right, no socks should ever be worn with sandals or open shoes in general. White socks are probably fine for any kind of sport related activity, like soccer, tennis, going to the gym, that's okay.
    Food is so subjective though, as someone who has worked in a coffee shop for a few years I can safely say nobody cares if you get a cappuccino at any hour of the day. If want to cut back on the caffeine you can always ask for it to be decaf 😁 We won't look down on you!

    Ketchup on pasta is f'n disgusting.
    You don't have to be Italian to know that.
    If you put ketchup on pasta you have 0 food sense, less than 0 *shakes head^
    As for ham and pineapple on pizza, that's more debatable, some like it, some don't, myself I don't mind it.
    My Italian father says Italians rarely mix sweet and savory flavors/things, but some cultures, especially in the orient do.

      @@Haylla2008 As an italians I confirm We have some exceptions at these rules:
      Parma ham with melon - cheese with fruit jam or honey- and pears with cheese, focaccia in cappuccino.
      But any kind of bread (pizza, focaccia, piadina, baguette, etc.) with Fruits is always a big no.

    A little sugar can be there, especially if the tomato is not so ripe. P.S. in South Italy there are some people that use spoon for eat spaghetti, my sister use often a spoon if the sauce is quite liquid.

    thats actually wrong, depending on the quality of the tomatoes, if the "sweetness" of the onions isnt enough u need a sprinkle of sugar to balance the acidity to really make pop that fruity taste of the tomatoes. so Callie's mum is right.
