That crawl in full:
"Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute.
Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo.
While the congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict...."
Hi Chris. I wasn't sure how else to contact you but I've only just realised you were heavily involved in Firewatch, and I wanted to say how much the game touched me, and to thank you.
I thought this was quite easy for a Saturday puzzle. Usually, I can’t get more than a few clues, but I was able to nearly complete this one unassisted.
I agree, it's as though someone declared "oh-pun season" on us. I've been putting up a bunch of best times this week, but I'm sure the inevitable hammer will drop at some point...
This was difficult but today's Saturday Stumper may be even more ferocious!
Got the NW to SE corner fairly quickly, but struggled with the rest. And didn’t solve all in one sitting. But even with all that, it wasn’t too painful. Although I will admit at one point I had to look up MIKEY. I was pretty stuck in that section. I also had BLEEPING instead of BLURRING until quite late, which threw everything off
Awesome that #2000 will be a Sunday
these days i only use "fun fact" ironically when i'm describing something that's horrible.
I struggled. Good time but nothing was easy.
I don't know how should I take 28d as an Italian.. do you call teeth "sausage grinders" in the us or is it totally random?
It's not an established phrase (as far as I can tell, and I assume not anyway as that would ruin the punny clue), it's a misdirect designed to make the reader think of a meat grinder or perhaps a sausage-filled 'grinder' sandwich.
Using rebus one might try Giro d'Italia there...
