Ready to start your youtube channel? Watch my free RUclips workshop to learn how to get VIEWS on RUclips even with ZERO subscribers ➡www.gillianperkins.com/youtube-growth-workshop/
Start with what you have I started doing my videos with a tablet and got an external microphone with a small ring light at that time. Now I do my videos using only my phone to film, edit and everything. Do not delay start now you will get better over time.
Exactly just get started! People get hung up on needing a pro camera or a mic. You don't need them at first. The most important thing like you say is to get started, and improve over time.
@@martynask5681 I just reach 3k lest than a week now. The subscribers count does not influence how much money you make. The amount paid is paid based on views. So basically you can have a small subscription but get lots of view that equal more money or you could have lots of subscribers but get small amount of views that equals to less money. Views are more important when it comes to earnings on RUclips. My views are not high right now hopefully it will improve as time goes on. I hope this helps.
👍I totally agree ... the most important step to making your first RUclips video is to just take action! Use your phone to video, use a window for light, use a stack of books or a shelf to hold your phone, place blankets on your floor to get rid of that echoy sound. Next make that plan using Gillian's strategy that she shared in today's video. Then after you get your first video done, watch it. Don't judge yourself, simply look at what you created and find things you like about it, things you want to do differently next time and so on. And remember that if your video gets even just 5 views, you are a winner! You are on your way. The only way to fail is if you give up. Keep going, keep learning, keep using the tips that Gillian shares with you, take Gillian's training to grow to 1000 subs so you can at least start earning some RUclips ad revenue. Along the way you can use your videos to promote your own products and services or affiliate products that you will earn a commission on and so on. That way you can earn money while you grow your RUclips channel. You've got this. You can do this. If someone like me, who has a severe lung disability with very limited physical and mental resources can do this and make passive recurring income from my RUclips channel then you can to. Hope you are excited. Can't wait to see your first video! Big BIG hugs. Thank-you Gillian for always giving us 110% of your best! 🤗
People worry too much about appearance - appearance really doesn't matter if you're content is valuable! We're all unique and that's what makes you and your channel different from everyone else. Just create valuable content.
One thing I am wondering ( As I’m about to create my first RUclips video) is : How long should your videos be? More importantly, how long should the first 6-12 videos be?
This was great timing. I have been subscribed to your content for awhile now. Several channels I watch have been after me to finally get started so that is the plan for this week. Thanks 😊.
How do you attach a Thumbnail to the video that you have made?? Is it done as the video is being uploaded?? What i have done is planned out about my first 25 videos and made many of the Thumbnails, I just need to sit down and film the videos. Maybe that seems backwards, but as I learned in s business school: if you don't plan, then you plan to fail. Thanks for the great video 😊!! Miss Monique 🙂🙏🌷💗
How do you get this shot where the background is slightly blurred as in your video here but not as much as in a e.g. zoom meeting? Can you achieve that with a phone camera? Is there an app for it? Thanks in advance for any tipps.
Thanks Gillian - great video. I had created this RUclips channel and hoping it will organically grow. I am in the process of planning my next RUclips channel and setting up the fun and preliminary work behind the scenes until I shoot my first video. 😀
07:32 Cutting out all the little extras and pauses...takes 5 seconds to say in a video, but guaranteed burnout if you still do this by hand. 80% of the edit battle in long video commentary is what to cut. TimeBolt auto cuts silence, and a bunch of other stuff in seconds not hours. We fixed why people don't record a video in the first place.
I haven't made very much content yet, but I do have one tip for those using their smartphone as a camera: use Airplane Mode! This will disable cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity, making it where you won't receive calls or texts while you're recording content.
Great video as always Gillian , just recently joined the start up society so looking forward to putting it all into practice , 2 questions , firstly how important is it to have a good branded intro sequence and how long should it be ? Secondly if like me you have a face for radio 😂 how can you get over that I don’t belong in front of camera syndrome ?
Thanks Gillian. I'm at that awkward stage of figuring out exactly what I want my niche to be and just beginning. I ripped the band-aid off and filmed my first video today. I just need to figure out how to edit it, release it, then get onto the 2nd one now :)
I love your videos Gillian. I have a couple questions I'm trying to help my brother start a channel and we are having problems with his name. 1) his name was exactly the same as another channel but youtube allowed it , I didn't think you could have the same name ? 2) he changed his channel name and I subscribed but it doesn't show in my subscription list and when I search for his channel on RUclips it doesn't show up. Does it take a certain amount of time for things to show up ?
Thanks for this video. One thing I always struggle with is how much time it actually takes to create a video (especially while the videos are only getting dozens of views). Out of curiosity how long did this video take to edit?
I have a question for you. You touched a little bit on appearance. To be honest with you I started watching your videos because I thought you were pretty and Smart. (Still do) And I was already interested in making videos. I realize appearance is important to get views. I have several teeth missing. I'm asking for suggestions to make videos with out people focusing on smile. And if I am asking this question I know many people feel like I do. Maybe this could be for you another great video.
I don't know how to do that. A few days ago I learned how to upload a picture. I don't know where it goes. I know this sounds funny believe me I am laughing at me too. But with technology I believe a cave man has a better shot at this. I spend a lot of time by myself. My job requires this. I believe if you can help me, I truly believe you can help anyone.
First off...You are Gorgeous 😍 ✨️ Had to be said. Next...It's ironic really. I've been doing a build now for 3 weeks. Building a patio umbrella table. I am a woodworker and this is a completely custom piece, hand made, joinery, inlays, the works. I've been taking videos of the entire build and am going to make this my FIRST RUclips video. I am starting my own Woodworking business (hence the reason I found your videos and subscribed). I hope you'll take a gander at it once posted. I have a question though on the "Taking video" side of things...more to the point, downloading them off the SD cards. I'm on my 4th SD card cause my computer doesn't have enough storage available to download 128g four different times. I am recording in HD. I was thinking I'm going to need to buy an external hard drive to download to....Is there a better way of getting these videos off the SD cards so I can start editing them? Thanks 😊
I think applying David Grohl's method for becoming a great musician may also apply to being a great RUclipsr. Get into the garage, pick up your [guitar] and suck. Continue to suck until you no longer suck. Or something.

I told you gillian am not this style i will not do gambling for erarning.
What is the lav mic you're using in this video?

YESSSSS! Just posted my first YT video a few days ago :) Thanks for this.
This is very helpful. Thank you for the information!
Just posted my first video last week. I was too afraid to do anything structured so I did a voice over.
Voiceovers are a great option!
Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I want to learn how to get started, but it is not at all urgent for me.
Perfect timing. Getting ready to purchase equipment
For small RUclipsr the best way to being is just by phone.
*Myself I started my RUclips channel with my phone!*

Nice one! Thanks for sharing the process!
Thank you🙂
love it !!!!!
You helped when I wanted to get an economic light with the lamp post, yeah thank you it was a step.
I just started my channel from the scratch. Hoping for the best but not scared for the worse because for now it’s just a hobby for me. ❤️❤️
Good luck with your channel 🙂 I started one recently too - let me know what you think!
@@thriveco subscribed you 😇 keep going

This was extremely helpful.
I'm so glad!

Hi Gillian I love your work! I have a question, How do you do to separate the videos in "chapters" or titles?
I would like to know this as well
make some more videos on the niche selection.
SHE ALREADY HAS... LOTS!

I tried to send an email to telegram@, but it didn't work. bounced
Well done, super informative and just what I needed to create that first video this weekend. So excited :)
Good luck!

Just uploaded my first in the 6 months
This is a good video
loved that monitor! nice video awesome!
yes....
Very common mistake to not discuss AUDIO at all. Audio quality makes or breaks a video.
wait, I didn't get the soft thing?

If you don't have a camera or tripod
I recognize your tripod, I think. What is the guys name who invented it and marketed it. I can't remember his name.
I thought I seen that little collapsible tripod. That's the one I am referring to.
I think applying David Grohl's method for becoming a great musician may also apply to being a great RUclipsr. Get into the garage, pick up your [guitar] and suck. Continue to suck until you no longer suck. Or something.
