If I have to make a guess about the "wearing of camouflage in space", it is possibly because the army didn't plan on fighting in a spaceship and/or space itself. They probably just want to land on a planet and fight it out there and just assume every planet is green looking. Kinda like the first Avatar movie I guess.
And as always, what a great video ;)

Space Marine visiting The Shire and the Idols of Torment are my two favorites so far.

Hi Alex, I personally enjoy the narrative flow retelling the thinking and problem solving behind the creative process of coming up with the design of the diorama. I belong to those who don’t paint, hence I don’t need a detailed guide on “how to do it”. But got excited following the thread of your reasoning. You went the extra mile with the final UV resin, and I am happy to hear that you use matte varnish “Just because” you like the effect! Appreciate showcasing of personality in all your creations. And btw Those umbilical look amazing in the closeups… dont be too harsh on yourself! Agree on the yellow accent though… so.. we live to implement these improvement another day! Thanks for the writing and editing, and take care!

Beautiful work and storytelling as always, Alex. I actually really like the two spots of yellow on the diorama, I tend to find a single spot sometimes attracts the eye too much, this looks perfectly balanced to me. Also love how the dark green wash in the shadows really boosted the mood.
    I love your work!

  • @malazar

Cool diorama. I'd love to see a part 2 with the aftermath - a marine, discarding his helmet, and not feeling so good, or whatever happens when the results of face hugger/space marine emerge. Maybe the marine is fine, maybe his friends don't want to take the chance. Perhaps the Apothecary has some thoughts on the matter. I like to think this story could go in a few directions, and perhaps building a follow-up would be fun, or perhaps it's better that this is an open-ended question: "What next?"
Maybe that's what makes the diorama so cool - because it leaves you with questions your imagination is all to eager to answer. Great job!

"The Marine curses mildly under his breath in surprise as the hugger attaches to his helm, before sighing in exasperation of his too base-human response to what, at this point, he should expect as a possibility during a standard cleanse-mission. He then chuckles as the gun registers the casual annihilation of the second hugger he saw emerging from its egg just as the first finally blocked his lense-sight. That done, he absent-mindedly cripples the first while clearing his view, before stamping it to paste under his boot. Momentarily ignoring his armor's warning of degrading layers, he mag-locks his boots to the deck as he punches a burst of shots through the hull-side wall of the room - the decompression pulls most of the other emerging huggers into the void. He waits until all the atmosphere is vented, punches a shot through the body of the last remaining xenos, then exits through the breach. He stands upon the hull and rolls his shoulders, off-handedly monitoring the armor's self-repair progress until satisfied of the suits integrity. He sets off at a light jog to the nearest registered air-lock, wishing he could smoke the cigar he had retained for the post-op debrief. "Another beautiful day in the corps", he thinks to himself, as he blink-clicks his status to the Lieutenant."
Lovely diorama, Aleks - I very much enjoy the amalgamation of the differing Marine concepts in this one. The Dark Horse Comics expansions of the Aliens franchise are some of my most-treasured items from my comic-collection days. The issues graced by the art of Denis Beauvais are the absolute best, IMO, but many talented artists and writers contributed to the series.
Your content is very much appreciated, thank you for it.

Don't know exactly how bolts work but, almost all have a HE filler high explosive warhead behind a armour piercing cap so they would logically have a mad, minimum arming distance, otherwise it would immediately explode as it hits something potentially harming or killing the shooter. So the fact the bolt goes straight through the face hugger is probably more realistic than if it hit and immediately blew up.

Not all Bolt rounds explode so them completely piercing through something instead of exploding is lore accurate. In short, don't worry about what they say and if they complain just refer to the fact I brought up.
