Simple, elegant, effective. A fine example of one of the less-appreciated features of the Tally Ho project. Leo has developed a sophisticated and artistic eye to his video production. Always a pleasure to enjoy. This is one of his best.
It’s not a new boat. It’s an old boat that’s had the all ribs replaced, one at a time. The keel was also replaced at a different time. The stem was replaced, also in its own time. Likewise for the deadwood and sternpost. Then the planking was redone just lately. Each of these jobs was a maintenance operation on an existing boat. Each job mostly independent of the others. This is one of the most fascinating aspects of this project.

Lovely - good choice of music too (but then it always is!). Do you ever look at it now and think "blimey, I've built a boat!". I know that's what boat builders do, but to me it's almost a miracle that you can put some wood and bronze and other bits and pieces together, and then suddenly one day it's a boat - a real, proper, fantastic, beautiful boat! It must feel fantastic.
So inspiring to watch! Many episodes ago you gave a lot if information on lofting. That really intrigued me. I have since found a set of plans for a boat (step-hydroplane) from the 1940's that i have lofted and scaled down to under 12' long to create a small wooden "speedster" fishing boat for myself. Never would have happened without watching this channel. Thanks for sharing!
Simon, What you have accomplished so far is truly amazing. Starting with a little money and a great big idea, you've accomplished so much with a crew of mostly untrained workers,. beat up tools, and an incredible imagination for finding ways to overcome adversity when things go wrong or too difficult to do by oneself. Truly the British way. I hope to see you set sale for England when you're ready and go back to a hero's welcome when you get there. But now, I just want to see you do the decking and interior, the mast and the engine. Go young man !

Your knowledge is paramount. Pete, and Rosey and well all your crew starting and up to now have been great. Your viewer that have made machines or sent you cool tools is just super.
You and crew have built a beautiful yacht. Brought back to life a skill and shared it with the world. Nothing like real boat building and craftsmanship to bring a smile and sense of accomplishment. Even with all problems the county dragged you down with you still managed to smile stay focused and build art. Cheers and Beers to you and all your crew.
It’s a beautiful sight to see her coming together. Ships are one of the most graceful things created by the hands of man.
Such a beautiful work of functional art/sculpture. Thank you for bring it to fruition!!
Just beautiful Leo. What a treat. Like ice in the desert!
I've watched this restoration from start to finish 3 times now and have loved every minute of it! its soo great to see the progression from the half rotten shell to this beautiful piece of art! Im glad that no matter what obstacles comes your way that you will push past them and continue on your craft for this vessel! cant wait for the day that it gets into the water and see it slide into ports throughout the world! Great job Leo!!!!
Hug to you Leo and to the crew. You sir, have built a boat...and she is beautiful. SO well done...applause....take a bow. ❤
I'm currently quarantining on my canal boat & it's great to chill and watch you incrementally building up Tally Ho - thanks for the entertainment Leo! ⚓
Oh wow! I'm usually late to these events! LOL ;o) What a fantastic way to end a sunny day in Scotland - not many of those, so we all rush out and get burned.
Yep; I live near Seattle, and when it is sunny, folks all of a sudden act like we live in San Diego. They sell more sunglasses here than anyplace else. Sunburn is a regional affliction in the summer.
Cant agree more - been a great weekend! And what a surprise to see this timelapse pop up
Wow, that was satisfying to watch...I've been hoping for a time lapse! All of the work and skill that went into that 3 minutes utterly amazes me. That is just beautiful.
A staggering amount of detailed work. Well done!
staggering indeed....i understand why shipworks had hundreds of builders to do production builds
Love the look of a wooden boat with fresh planks. Love that full keel too. Beautiful boat. Well done.
She is going to be a very beautiful boat on the water , she is already a beautiful beast on land , your workmanship is so special guys , you are honouring a very special boat with great love to bring her back ,
Just amazing. WOW!! I have no idea how you were able to maintain all of those precise camera positions for that length of time without tripping over them. WONDERFUL job. Thank you so much for having the foresight to do this.
Awesome look at the progress! I would love to see this old girl at sea someday. Thank you Leo and friends for making these wonderful moments come to life. I can't wait to see what this year brings to the fitting out of this magnificent old craft. Much love from Vancouver WA ♥.
Color of the wood with the different natural lighting is beautiful
Leo and company, you all are SAVAGES. Sooooo smart, and just all around good eggs. Hope your journey continues my friends.
That was gratifying. She is stunning, Leo. 😊
That original transom looks so good.
Leo that was absolutely the coolest… I think I’ll watch it 10 more times
It's amazing what it takes to keep the sea water out. Looks AWESOME. Keep it up Leo and crew.
Who is Simon?
@@moonshine3333 Simon is Leo's middle name.
That’s probably the most satisfying video possible. Thank you Leo. What a beautiful boat she will be, again!
You sir, are an artist on so many levels. Cheers!
Tally Ho is a beautiful boat. Her lines give me great please to look at, a work of art.
Thanks Leo. Beautiful lines, with masterful shipwright skills. Enjoy your vacation now.
Beautifull craftsmanship. I hate boats but i watched every video in amazement of the quality of craftsmanship of everyone involved.what a work of art... Luv ya rosie
Thanks Leo, The time-lapse from multiple angles gives a better perspective to shape of the hull. I now understand why you say she has beautiful lines.
BRAVO ! and thanks for your continuing work and skill,I can't get enough of this project.I keep watching the old videos...
Extraordinary achievement Leo, your skills need to be passed on to as many as possible!
Tally-ho is looking absolutely beautiful, Leo. She is going to fly when you get her sails up. Well done, man.
A beautiful yacht and amazing craftsmanship! BRAVO!
Just wonderful to see the lines coming together - great fairing - thanks for all your hard work Leo on all these videos and photographs. Quite a handsome documentary and a beautiful vessel. Looking forward to seeing the quality of workmanship continue as you move inside to fit her out. Well done. I guess moving about inside will be much more tricky that working from the outside. Greetings from the West of Bonnie Scotland.
WOW! At least half a dozen 'whiskey planks'-going to be a great night. Many thanks Leo.
It took me many weeks to watch that all! And now you show that in slightly more than 3 minutes.....making it look really simple. Yet we all know it is a lot of work. Excellent video! Really nice you thought of making that timelapse.
Congratulations Sampson Boat Co. on achieving this milestone in the wonderful restoration of Tally Ho. I eagerly look forward to watching the next phase of this amazing documentation.
Aloha from Hawaii,
Thomas
You clearly had this planned out from the start as you have all the angles fixed, heads off to you. Great work Leo, and she looks gorgeous!!

How you managed such quality with the help you had is just amazing. Great job and work, Congats to all hew had a hand on her. I am a home builder and don't give out compliments very often.
I did not mean this as an insult, On the contrary with the amount of experience I would say everyone did a great job. Everyone exept that one neighbor.
I lover her shape. A truly classic and proven design. And a cutter!
Honestly, these were all beautiful time lapses and merged together so nicely with music. Well worth the effort and it’s own video!
