Isshin-ryū Wansu kata traditionally is the forth kata Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei taught.
Shimabuku Tatsuo (1908~1975) learned Wansu kata from Kyan Chōtoku (1870~1945).
At 00:14 and 00:18 i am using a back-fist strike to the solar plexus. This is how I learned Wansu kata in 1959. Later, Tatsuo Sensei changed it to a punch.

Nice kata, good form.
Wondering why he bothers to put his left hand under elbow for the uppercut. Was once told elbow makiwara. Thoughts?
If I remember correctly, the left-hand acts as a reference for the upper-cut to be a fake (for the student to reference in the kata) to draw the opponents defense up while exposing for the follow-up kick performed immediately after. At least that is one recognized interpretation.
It is like an exclamation mark meaning the uppercut is loose and is a fake followed by the kick.
Is he gonna throw a competition anytime soon? If so when and where?
I'd like to fight his best people.....im curious too see if they are any good or not, anybody got any info?
