I'm gonna hold off and hope they either make a budget version or run a sale. I find the knife appealing, but it's just a bit more expensive than I'm willing to go.
Likewise. This was looking like a great fifth pocket knife, but at $230? The Cub in the same materials is on sale at $152, normally $190. Was the additional engineering that tricky? Anyway, looks like a great little example of utility and compact carry. Let’s see if there is a drop in price, or a budget steel version down the road.
When I was a lad (too many years ago now to want to remember), my first visit to a knife shop with my dad, resulted in looking at Cold Steel knives (Ultralock, Voyager Lockback etc). Most were too expensive for a 13 year old…..except for the Ready Edge and the Hai Hocho. I ended up coming away with the Hai Hocho, but always wanted a Ready Edge. The bottle opener is so like the Ready Edge, it’s brought all that back.
Since I've been watching your channel I've picked up a lot of the knives I thought were appealing and a good value. Been wanting a Demko for a long time, but was a little hesitant about their price. That changed a few days ago when I went on their site and saw the 20.5 in S35VN and G10 on sale for $150. Got it a few days later, and I love it. I think that's a great price for what you're getting.
So much this. I absolutely hate the standard grip on the 20 & 20.5. That “beak” on the end of the handle ruins the ergonomics. Granted, I have freakishly large hands (XXL gloves are rather snug and it’s basically impossible to find anything bigger) so it’s a given I wouldn’t like it. However, I have normal-sized friends that don’t like how the beak crowds the grip (especially when using a saber grip).

This is basically the AD22.5. I like the size of the original custom AD22 that this is based on. This one seems a little small for me. The AD22 just feels so good in hand. Perfect size and ergos.
Hey metal, this, vs the lil native, which one would you take? No sprint run or anything like that. Both base, prices considered. Which one are you taking?
They have made one. They showed one off at blade show. Called something like the megalodon. Edit: I don’t think they ever sold any though, but at least they are at least thinking about it.
I wish demko would make a utility knife 🙏🏼 Yes I understand this and the sharks foot in general is basically a utility knife, but I'd love the changeable blades for work
I think that ultra-thin blades under 3 inches lack the heft to be easily deployed and manipulated. Demko seems to have caught on to the idea that if you're going to make a fidget friendly, short folding knife, the blade needs to have a bit of weight to it. I like this version.
I'd like one of these, but that price point is just a bit too steep for what it is. I have a Spyderco Lil Native, similar size and IMO looks like probably better ergos. Same steel and a compression lock, and it ran me $150. I love 5th pocket sized knives like these, but even for Made in Taiwan, that price is a little much.
You'd probably hate my collection, because I have an insane amount of little (under 2.8") knives! I absolutely live tiny folders. It's much more difficult for a tiny folder to have good action, so that's one of the reasons I love my tiny custom folders. The custom makers have to put more time, patience, and thought into them. Almost all of my folders are considered small or tiny... and I have hundreds. When it comes to my fixed blades I'm the opposite. They're pretty much all big and burly, with the exception of all the different Alan Folts Minimalists I have, with many being huge hahaha.
I am really upset about mine. It grinds when opening and will not flick open. You can slow roll it but that is it. The shark lock also indents my finger when pulling it down. Contacted Demko but they are not responding to my emails.
I wish they would make one the same size as the AD20 but the same handle and blade thickness as the AD20.5 if that makes sense.Take the AD20.5 and stretch it to the length of the AD20
I really wanted one till I found out the blade stock is thicker than the already thick 20.5 - which in my opinion- makes zero sense on a knife that size.
Very cool! Taiwan is preferable to China for me, but it will probably all be the same thing soon. I wonder if China will allow Demko to continue to make knives in the Taiwan shop, once they take it over?
I recently got my 1st Spyderco and it is made in Taiwan. The finish was subpar for the price I paid. I thought that may be because of Taiwan but here you say Taiwan is their best. 🤔 Maybe Spyderco is kinda hyped up?
Compare this in a video with the Tuff Lite, right? Big difference in that with the tuff lite, and lil native for that matter, my forefinger goes immediately to the choil.
@metal_complex I understand that, but it's definitely not a $230 knife... The Spyderco Lil Native is just as small and is $100 cheaper🤷🏻♂️ Demko is just a bit greedy on this one. I can understand and justify the price on the bigger models.
@@metal_complex ok a little bit off on the price🤷🏻♂️ but my point still stands. Small, American made knife that's still well under $200. Demko could take notes👍🏻
Everything he said about Taiwan manufacturing for Spyderco is definitely true that is the highest level of their production I do disagree with one part though when he's talking about the China Spydercos being done as garbage I don't agree with that the byrd 2 line is well done knives for the price, the normal China Spydercos are done decently as well but over priced. But I'm sorry anyone that thinks the mid locks are poor done garbage considering they are 25ish dollars is just wrong. Those knives are very well built considering the price and perform surprisingly well.

I can't tell you how happy we all are that Demko didn't name this thing the Baby Shark!
Yes but that would have been hilarious and I would have still wanted it LOL
@@HyperactiveNeuronthe jokes everyone gets to make are just as funny and aren’t printed on and around the knife so it’s a win win imo

The Demko shark Chub

Nobody can argue that, but like they say, it is what it is.

Looks like my cheap cold steel folder

The shark cub is an absolute gem. This one is just a bit small for me. You really can't go wrong with a Demko. Just pick the size that suits you.
