Used to own a 2006 International with a 435 Cummins ISX. I did some work on the engine, head, cams, rockers. Those engines seem to have that problem that you were looking for on the new truck. Since it was a 10 gallon oil system, I substituted 2 gallons oil with 2 gallons of Lucas Heavy Duty Stabilizer. Also changed the oil every 10,000 miles. Those engine seem to get a lot of spot in the oil. Anyway it worked out good for me.
You have the valve cover off, take the time and adjust those valves. It may take a little time, but you would have them set right. Like you said not sure when they were last adjusted. Could help with that fuel mileage!!
i hope this one goes as far as your old one. i run rotella and good filters....no bargain basement parts for me. i watch for the oil to go on sale at the fleet parts store. next video from chase5726...."running the overhead on the new volvo! you guys talked me into it!"
I've already done more than most do, I removed the cover and looked lol. Trying to finish the stuff that I know for a fact that is a problem. I might go back at some point and do that, but I mainly just wanted to see what the cams looked like right now.
@@LifeWithChase i was just joking around. hard to know how a comment is meant to be taken ....i agree. i am sure you have a priority list of repairs and the over head in not at the top. its a lot cheaper to do all that work before it goes on the road. no down time or expensive road side repairs.....you know what is right for you.
@@j.c.smithprojects I knew you was joking, but figured I would get alot of comments as to why I didn't do it, and as you know alot of those people who leave those comments wouldn't even have looked to start with lol
the D13 in my volvo had a bad roller ring on one of the rocker arms from factory, camshaft was junk after 50.000 miles. engine been good after that, veb valve been replaced when truck was rather new, same with the vds steering module. volvo do help the customers, even after the warranty go out. i run mobile delvac, 10W40 fully synthetic oil, seems like a very good oil. have to order it myself and take it with me to the volvo dealer that change the it. the ones that sell mobile in town charge 200 usd for the work and charges 30% more for the oil then what i get it for. so they can keep it.
Hey Chase, I have two trucks also. Had to add blowby tube like you did. That was three years ago , It would use a lot of oil so I put the Traveler oil you get at Tractor Supply seemed to work just as good as Rotella due to the shape of the engine. Tore engine down yesterday, the cam and cylinders looked great, but the valve train wasn’t, as in it needed seals and guides . Will over a Million miles . Just wanted to tell you that. Would you put the zinc additive in the new motor, and if so where do you get the brand your using, glad to see your engine looks good, gaves a guy peace of mind. Thanks for your videos
yeah seals and guides is common wear item. If I rebuilt my Isx i would probably still use zinc because i know people have had problems with the cams in them including myself. If it was an engine that didn't have that issue then I wouldn't bother probably, or if its a newer truck with a dpf the zinc is supposedly bad for the dpf. I get what I use off amazon, link in description.
I ran Mobil Delvac in my Detroit 60 series, changing the oil at about every 12 to 14 thousand miles. When I sold the truck at nearly 1.5 million the engine while getting tired had never even me any problems. I had a front seal leak and while changing that I checked all my rod bearing. None of them were worn excessively at all. So I had good luck with the product.

Nice idea to inspect now before you put it to work. Mostly rotella up here too.
yep, wanted to take a look just for piece of mind.

Rotella is good quality oil and that's what you want oil and filters is never the place to cut corners
Matt Coy hey Matt your right, when I get mine rebuild, I will use the Rotella T6
It's the same for cat and Detroit some would go 400 to 1 million + some want c13 cats had cam problems too

You better be careful working and owning that Volvo. You may develop a Russian accent and star wearing adidas gym suits.
