When I was there a few years ago for a project, I was shocked to find there's all that building and no food court! There was just a vendor with a refrigerator of sandwiches and drinks. On google maps, looks like theres a murphys there now.
This building does have an observation deck however it's not open to the public and I know for a fact because I used to do security in the tower and it's located facing the Westview it's not facing downtown nor the Texas medical center skyline and on top of that you can look on the floor and see the street through clear glass in one section the very room also houses other floor to ceiling replicas notable skyscrapers of the city such as downtown's Bank of America tower.
They closed it after 9/11 and haven't reopened it since which is wild because so many other observation decks in other major cities have reopened since then.
Very impressive. I had no idea it even existed. I suppose it's off the beaten path, because I've been through Houston many times and can't remember ever noticing it. Another reason to be a proud Texan, because the skyscraper is gorgeous. I've been inside the USS Lexington down in Corpus Christi. That is a really impressive ship. They have a really nice museum, heritage building area, and an awesome aquarium.
I went up to that beacon when it was under construction. A ladder went to a hatch in the roof that opened to the red clearance light. The rotating beacon had not been installed yet. Interesting looking out and seeing helicopters flying around below...
My brother in law was an ironworker on that project. He was given a glass panel that had a small chip and we used it in a house we built. Totally forgot about that- thanks for triggering the memory.
beside the 1 that was at Williams Tower, Chase Tower downtown had 1, you could just walk into the building and take the elevator, but i suppose they were closed over security concerns after 9/11
Transco Tower - built between 1981 and 1983. Renamed Williams tower in 1999.
I should have added that, I'll pin your comment to the top.
@@ThirdCoastDrone That's A Beautiful Highrise Skyscraper In Houston Texas!! But!! Miles Away From The City🏙️.. Of Houston.
It will always be Transco Tower to me.

It's connected to the Galleria by skybridge all the food is there.

This tower sits in the Galleria area. The freeway beside it in the video is 610 West. You can see Williams Tower easily.
It's quite beautiful for a monument to lack of wisdom . It's out of touch with economics, safety, productivity, health and superior ways to live.
i got to the top of the tower before i got kicked out by security, i stood there for a good 20 seconds, the view was incredible looking out west
does the elevator require a badge to go up?
Awesome video man! Thank you for making this.
amazing footage. I watched Transco Tower being built in the early 80's. Too bad the beacon was not turned on, it's been off for years.

No Observation Deck…seriously? Are there any Skyscrapers in Houston that have Observation Decks….?
