  • I bought this Honda VTX 1800 V-Twin for the engine.
I was gathering parts to build a tube frame 7/8 scaled 427 Cobra using the Locost book to build the frame and using a Miata rear subframe with suspension and complete rear end. The car was going to utilize mostly Miata components and this 110 cu in motor. It sounds like a big block V-8.
But life changes and now that I have the parts to build the car we are moving out of Alaska and I can't take it all with me. The VTX has been sitting for 11 years in the storage shed waiting for its turn in the shop. I spent two days making the muffler to replace the straight pipes it came with that were so LOUD it rattled windows. Louder than anything short of a HD big twin drag bike.
I cleaned the fuel system and this is the first start video.
    It's ALIVE!
I wanted to get it running before I list it for sale.
The frame is bent and it has a salvage Title in my name.
Under 18,000 miles on it too.

BRUTUS LIVES! typical Honda, pack it away for more than a decade and thumb it over like you've been running it regularly. Is that your Drifter muffler? I'd love to throw a seat on it and take it down the dragstrip. Edit: i see now in your description that you made this muffler for this bike.

Yes, I used the Borla again and it always amazes me at how well it reduces the volume even though it is a straight through design with a large open core. It would be interesting to watch you take it down the strip but you would be thinking; "Man this beast is slow" since you are used to your Turbo ZX14 with more than 3 times the power. But I still prefer the sound of a big twin to any turbo 4.
