Honda VTX 1800 Short Run
2005 Honda VTX 1800 project bike.
The frame is bent and it has a "Junk" Title and sold for parts only.
Runs excellent and it has less than 18,000 miles on it.
The frame is bent at the steering head and down tubes, the original forks and front wheel were broken. I installed the front end off one of my parts bikes so that I could roll it around the shop.
I bought it just for the motor to put into a Locost lightweight sports car.
Then I thought about building a reverse trike (Tadpole) using most of the frame, or a three wheel car like the Polaris Slingshot again using most of the Honda frame.
Many possibilities but now I am moving and selling all my projects.
I made the 2 into 1 exhaust using Cobra...

    What kind of an exhaust is that? Never seen it before

    • @JagLite
      @JagLite 16 дней назад

      Never see another one either. It started out as a "Cobra Long Shots" (or whatever they called it) but the previous owner had gutted them and they were painfully loud straight pipes when I bought the bike. I cut them shorter and made up a 2:1 collector then welded that to a universal Borla muffler I had. So, all custom.

      @@kiriyukazuma Thanks! I wanted to get it running so that I can sell it. The bike was wrecked and has a bent frame so it is a donor engine for something else. Maybe a tadpole trike like the T-Rex? I love working on projects but we are moving out of state so everything is going to be liquidated. Now I can put this on CL and wait for fellow project builder to see the potential.

    BRUTUS LIVES! typical Honda, pack it away for more than a decade and thumb it over like you've been running it regularly. Is that your Drifter muffler? I'd love to throw a seat on it and take it down the dragstrip. Edit: i see now in your description that you made this muffler for this bike.

    • @JagLite
      @JagLite 17 дней назад

      Yes, I used the Borla again and it always amazes me at how well it reduces the volume even though it is a straight through design with a large open core. It would be interesting to watch you take it down the strip but you would be thinking; "Man this beast is slow" since you are used to your Turbo ZX14 with more than 3 times the power. But I still prefer the sound of a big twin to any turbo 4.

      Saturday was 53 miles and Sunday was 58. I ended up cutting out the parts that showed Steve in his Talon but my brother, Scott, rode with Steve on Saturday and Robyn rode with Steve on Sunday. Robyn and Scott tell me I need to buy a SxS now. I will when we are living down there. My camera didn't capture my two "crashes" where I lost momentum going up a rough trail and tipped over. Busted the right side handguard. But I had tools to move it out of the way. Most of my crashes are zero speed tip overs. I need to hit the steep climbs faster on the little TW. Or ride with my feet on the ground.. Both rides are on my Relive page for March 2 & 3rd. www.relive.cc/profile/jaglite (if that works?) Huh? Relive tells me it was only about 6 hours total not 9. Memory is the first thing to go I've heard... Maybe it took me 9 hours to go through all the video files?

    At this point, either lay-out dye or a wide sharpie becomes your tool of choice. Clean & dry both slide & carb bore. Mark a band of color around the top of the slide and one around the lower circumference. Run the slide down and back up one time. Examine both parts for where the color has gotten marred or transferred. Once you see where and how much distortion exists, you can determine a plan of attack. Good Luck.

    Hi Jim I. too have an xt225 it's a 2001.I bought it for my daughter, then she went off to school, and never moved back , so it's mine now. Love the bike but don't ride it much any more. She and her husband ride it when they're home for a visit. Looks like you've accumulated quite a few bikes. I'm looking to buy an electric duelsport as soon as they come out with an affordable one, then I'll sell off The CRF250, maybe.

    • @JagLite
      @JagLite Год назад

      The 225 is a nice bike and I hope to modify it to fit me better. Riding the XR200R and the XT225 on the same day, same trails really shows the differences. But my XR is far from stock with major modifications so I have things I can do to the 225 to make it better for me. One big difference is the distance from the foot pegs to the top of the seat, the XR is 3" taller than the XT so my legs aren't bent near as much on the XR. But I did make a tall seat for it. I really like the simplicity of an electric bike and I hope the battery tech and price improve to make them lighter and more affordable. I've been looking at electric fat tire bikes recently. I like the quiet stealth riding possibilities.

Lot's of hiking and biking trails, some that are for x-country skiing, and some horse trails, and in the winter one trail for snowmachines. But no motorcycles which is why I made the videos about the only trails in town. One along the airport security fence (this one) that becomes a skiing/walking trail just beyond my turn around point. Another video of riding along the perimeter fence of the golf course. that becomes a horse trail, and the video of the trail at the mx track that goes along the back side next to the fenced walking/biking/ski trails. The mx track is really nice but I'm too old and slow to ride it anymore. The closest trails are a 90 minute drive out of town and most of my riding is during the week after work so I explore.

I don't remember now if I cut it from the front or not. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't very hard either. I think it was well worth the effort. When I first brought it home I called Newmar to explain the project and that I was going to order a lot of things from them, including the aluminum header beam that supports the roof over the slideout. I was told that they do not sell parts to owners, I would need to order through a retailer and that they do not sell structural parts anyway. Nor would they give me information on the dimensions, specs on the header beam. ( I just measured the old bent beam and built my own) Then when I had it opened up inside and had the rats nest of wires exposed I tried to get an accurate wiring diagram but the RV shop I was ordering from said they couldn't order anything (no wiring diagram available) and suggested I call Newmar directly. I tried again and was told the ONLY wiring diagrams are the ones found in the owners manual and I could order that through my retailer. I have the complete owners manual and the wiring diagram is a joke. It is a generic diagram for ALL their motorhomes (at that time) and the diagram states that "Your coach may be different" and that the wire colors listed for various circuits "may be different". Totally worthless. They had the wires going any which way, wires that were spliced in the middle of runs, wires that changed colors between connections, etc. I had two options: 1. to completely rewire the bus and run the wires in sensible directions and locations, or 2. to just put the mess of wires back where they were since most everything was working. I went with number 2. We only have two lights that don't work and those are the reading lights for the two front seats and we don't use those lights anyway. The shop I ordered most parts from said Newmar was the most difficult brand they order parts from. Hopefully that has changed and improved over the years.
