      Thanks. I'll do my best. If you're using the 1010 i can definitely recommend you try the 910 for when the waves are bigger. It's an awesome small surf foil for use with FoilDrive. Got loads of lift for a small foil, turns great and rides waves that are too big for the 1010 sooooo well

    I come from downwinding on a full weight efoil so this is sweet for me.

    Great video and thank you for sharing. I am transitioning from E-foil Fliteboard Ultra (60L)the smallest and lightest setup at 22kg . I have done 3000km in 2 years. I will go 80cm Cedrus in Efoil position. I am 78kg . What would recommend for board and wings to start with? I don't mind persevering to keep the best out of it. What I found with Fliteboard - I went too big early and then realised to go with the smallest wings/board. I'm in the surf twice a day all aspects, flat, wind swell chop. So, I just need to get going and get a feel and see where I am. The surf conditions that I would learn in would be described and flat to rolling glassy. Thanks for tapping into your knowledge. 🙏👍

      Hey there. I'm glad you found my video helpful and I'm also really grateful you got in touch because I'd love to hear your honest opinion as to how you find the assist plus with integrated efoil mast compares to the lightest/smallest fliteboard once you've tried it . I've only ever used the really big efoils so i would love to hear from someone so has first hand experience with the small efoils.
      From my limited experience with efoils, this is what I can say... FoilDrive doesn't have as much thrust as your fliteboard, so you may find it harder to get on foil, but once you've got the right technique it's fairly easy. To learn the technique I airways advise beginners to use a big board and foil to begin with, but as you've already been doing the same thing (just with more power) I don't think you'll need to start too big. You might even be fine starting with a 30ltr prone board, but if not, there's no doubt that more volume makes it easier. I would say 50 ltrs is more than enough to learn with your experience, and once you've got the technique you'll be able to drop in size to anything you like. Personally I prefer around 35 ltrs of volume. Much less and it uses up battery power quicker and doesn't give much extra benefit in terms of performance in waves, however on flat water there's nothing like a sub 20ltr board.
      With regards foil size I find the super HA foils very difficult to get on foil due to their high takeoff speed, but even they are possible with a push from a small wave, it's just flat water that they are super difficult to get on foil. Foils that are AR 6 or 7 seen to work best with FoilDrive, and foils around 1500cm2 and above are pretty easy to get on foil in any conditions. I can use much smaller foils now but it took a long time for me to be able to go that small.
      I'd really appreciate if we can carry on with this conversation on WhatsApp or FB messenger as i think getting your opinion of FoilDrive vs the small efoils would be really useful to know.

    What is your favorite fuselage and rear wing for surfing with the PNG 1010? What is your favorite fuselage and rear wing for surfing with the PNG 910? What is your opinion on the 910b instead of then 910? Thanks very much for all your great work.

      80cm Cedrus/FD integrated mast.
      Crazyshort advance red & black.
      The only difference between the 910b and the 910 (red fuse) is that the 910b is slightly thinner in the middle section - this is because the 'head' of the black fuse is thinner than the 'head' of the red fuse, so it doesn't cause the foil to bulge as much at the connection. They are the same in every other way. As a result the 910b has slightly better performance than the 910 (red).

    Great review! Will you also be doing a review of the Project Cedrus mast in the assist position (5" to 10" down from the board) in similar water conditions as this review was done?

      I'll certainly try but I don't go to Aseelah that often as it takes 3.5 hours to drive there so it has to be a completely clear weekend to make it worth the trip, and I don't get many of those. Will do my best 👍

    I would think that there is less wear and tear from having the pod in the water rather than slapping in and out of the water.

    Hi Dominic would you say your comments in the video also ring true if you're using the FD without the PC mast and therefore having the cable taped along the trailing edge of the mast? Or does the extra drag from the cable mean you have to have the FD higher on the mast to surf/pump it?

    • @dominichoskyns9091
      @dominichoskyns9091  Год назад

      It's possible to downwind with the cable taped along the length of the mast, but for me I find it frustrating as the drag stops me from doing what I know is possible. If you don't know any different I'm sure it'll be OK. Basically the extra drag from the cable means you'll be going slower then normal, so I guess it'll just feel like you're using a slow, low aspect foil. Like I said, it's possible

      In the assist position it's about 8" below the board. In the efoil position it's as close to the bottom as the mast as possible

    It does look there is alot of drag when you are surfing, the foil is not gliding properly in the wave, i can see you correcting yourself alot of times to be able to stay in the wave. On the other hand it is quite impressive how you can pump it, it looks less draggy when you pump it then when you are on the wave.

    • @dominichoskyns9091
      @dominichoskyns9091  Год назад +1

      Yes, like I said in the video there is definitely some drag from the motor, but the point I was trying to make is that its still super fun to use in the waves. It'll never be as good as having the motor pod out of the water when surfing but there are a lot of people who want to know if surfing is possible with the efoil mast and what the compromises are. I hope that came across in the video.
      TBH I think the foil I was using on the gopro footage made it look awkward on the wave. It's a very high aspect foil that isn't designed for surfing at all
