I remember playing this at my grandparents house as a kid some 10 years ago, good times. My grandfather and I would take turns playing, singleplayer as they didnt have an internet connection, and I would always fly aircraft while he sniped/tanked. I cant remember when it was, but one day we discovered if you pressed 0 it brought up a huge menu of songs to play while you were in a vehicle. So, my best association of this game is seeing some fifty or so VC getting blown up by my grandfather in a Sheridan while Surfin Bird played.
Good times, if he ever gets a better PC hopefully i can play RS2 with him.

Chris Lee Type 56-1 is identical to the Russian AK 47 but with a folding bayonet and hooded front sight. The Type 56 in this game look so off for some reason (not only because of the inverted controls)
At least they got the left sided ejection port right!

It always bothered me that the M14 had only 50% of the ammo it should have done
However inaccurate, these animations are pretty good, especially for 2004.
Its montly ok, but has quirky inaccuracies in animations and left handed weapons in right hand not that different from Counter Strike. It was improved in Condition Zero so only left-handed asepct remains while animations were more accurate(especially M4). Battlefield 1942 and this dont really bother me much with these, some are fun like M1 Garand or russian LMG on 1942

Kacpa2 Dude I say the machine gun animations are some of the most detailed animations I’ve seen for a game as old as this. These are good animations. He did say “although inaccurate” tho. :d
Call of Duty 1 had the bast animation at that time.

Although most of the new weapons (Gewehr 43, SVT-40, M1919A6 .30 Cal, SG-43 Goryunov, Torkarev TT-33, MG-34, Webley Revolver, DP-28 and Browning M2) that were introduced in united offensive looked out of place, they weren't on the same quality as the original game imo

The Arsenal Mod for this game did the M14 justice with 20 rounds and full auto. Much fun!
Also the AKs portrayed in this game are Type-56-1s, with the folded bayonet under the barrel and closed front post.
Just reinstalled this game because of nostalgia. I missed this game so much.

Why almost all early FPS games completely ignore the concept of "one in the chamber" for pistols and assault rifles is beyond me.

You have to get a disk or the 1942 pack but its cheap.
softonic has it for free, i haven't yet installed it though so i'm not sure if it works.

I played this when I was very young back in the early 2000's :) But I don't remember an AKM Being in the game though :/ than again I was a kid back then so I could be wrong as I was always on the NVA Side shooting the AK 47 lol XD Oh yeah the good old days, and Battlefield Vietnam inspired me to make War Stories including an old Vietnam Story I made back in 2007 :)

Call of duty 2 was released only 1 year after BF Vietnam and the same year than BF2 but is much beautiful
That AK looks so nice
The bolties are pretty nicely animated, despite the strange artistic license in design.
It's not realistic at all, but I just love the sound of the bolts being racked back on the AK and the M14. I haven't played the game since I was a teenager, but I still remember that sound haha.

First, in the rifle of the NVA. That’s not the AK-47, it’s the Type 56. The bayonet is attached to the weapon.
And second rifle for the Viet Cong, how that’s a AKM?! It’s another Type 56 with a folding stock and a bayonet!
I'm 100% sure those AK are China copied version!!!

It's funny because the cong were more chummy with the soviets.
All of the guns were mirrored so that the gamer could see the action while still having the gun as a right handed shooter.

Ak 47 has always been ak 47 and will remain so.
Still one of my all time favorite games but boy howdy did they get some of those guns completely wrong. I don’t think there was ever a left handed mosin nagant. Mag dumping the m16 was always satisfying though.

the CAR-15 should have got similar gunshot sounds to the gunshot sounds of an AK-47

Literally NOBODY on youtube has done that, possibly tigerfield will be the 1st one.
Nightboy Ryan Maybe reasons nobody has done it before:
- BFBC1 is console exclusive, PS3 and X360. Though this isn't much of a problem.
- The 9-yr old game is overshadowed by the much more popular (also on pc) BFBC2.
- The Veteran exclusive weapon, the F2000 is no longer obtainable, as the Veteran program no longer functions properly for BC1, and is a rare sight in MP matches.
Although there is 1 popular BF YTber that has high interests for BC1: DannyOnPC. Try contacting him to do that.

Corrections:
1. They wanted to name it AK-47 but they basically named Type 56 instead.

I wonder why they mirrored the body of the AKs so that the fire selector switch is in a REALLY awkward place....and the casings get thrown in your face. O_O
It is almost always either copyright issues or for the sake of showing more action/animations.
Because it is easier to animate/code everything to the one side of a weapon.

I loved this game, but damn, those weapons are not historically accurate. The bolt on the left side, the charging mechanism for ak on the left, wtf? Can it be that hard to get the look and operation right?
