  • Today we focused on high wicket runs.
Took me a few attempts to find the right distance between each wicket but once we got it right, each run felt sweet.
Distance between wickets were 1.95m each

Seeing someone who’s inspired me so much training at my local park is so cool to see. One of the best to do it! Hope the rest of your year is blessed Dwain

I found some pieces of carpet the other day...thinking about nailing down pieces of them, like tactile patches, so that you step on them and not have to jump over anything through the acceleration phase. And then when you get to the wickets you can cycle over without having to stagger step because your stride is already locked in. That's the theory, do you think it would work?

Good idea, I like that a lot. Let me know how you get on

Great Video, legend( + kinda funny on the 1st approach)😂😂😂! One question -> how do you arrange the mini hurdles and maybe you can suggest any household items to replace the hurdles😬😬😬😬

Good question. The small cones (that were measured by my coach) started at 1meter and 50cm apart and were incremently increased up to the big wickets that were spaced out at 1meter and 95cm apart.
If your limited by equipment an alternative will be to use sticks/twigs, trainers (if you have that many) or wet handfulls of sand.

@@DwainChambers and yeah one more question though😅😅😅do you think doing long distance(read:30 minutes jog or doing 3km run) is inversely proportional to the performance of a sprinter? If yes, which part it will interrupt?

@@zulkhairyzaharil2317 long runs are good for general cardiovascular fitness and should be done in pre season. It also helps increase blood cell capillaries which in turn help remove the build up of waste products.
In order to run fast one must train on speed days at 90/95%. This will cause an adaptation for the body to change so it can cope with the demands.
If you run slow all the time you won't develop the necessary adaptations for white muscle fibres/fast twitch fibres to develop.

@@DwainChambers Ouh I see!!After all it is beneficial for us if we do it moderately and when suitable(pre season)...
Oh yeah,Coach Dwain...the small cones that you mentioned in the first answer is before the wickets right?(like at 0:16)?
