    Very nice review and reinforces what i love about mine. I have a 2016 1200 S and completely agree with you on all 3 issues, my mirrors aren't terrible but I think I will break down and get bar end. I haven't because I didn't want to decrease the width of the bars but you know what, lane splitting isn't even legal here in NJ so that shouldn't even be an issue. Now the TFT screen I completely agree with you on, I found a piece of smoke plastic see thru rubberized stuff that adheres to smooth surfaces and cut to fit, it works great at night but not so much day. I take it of and keep it in a ziplok when not in use but now its another piece of equipment to keep track of. Yes finding neutral can be a pain, in fact its the worst I've ever encountered and I've had a few times where I've put it in what I thought was neutral and got a green light only to have it stall when I let the clutch out. my bike does have the annoying footpegs that wont allow me to move my feet back. Stock exhaust and I do think it sounds great and quite loud for stock but next summer I want something lighter and smaller plus it will obviously be even louder. I'm embarrased to say that I only have 5000 miles and my only concern is I would have go a considerable way for service if it needed something I don't wish to do as 2 Euro bike centers including the one where I bought it have gone out of business, Oh I have a Suzuki V Strom which I love so I ride that too. Anyway sorry so long but yes I am very happy with my purchase.

      Yeah changing to the bar end mirrors have made a massive difference. Even though the mirrors I put on are quite small but because I have nothing blocking my view I can see very clearly behind me.
      I will definitely need to look into the smokescreen for the TFT. Especially at this time of year. Cheers for that. I didn't even think of that.
      I have to say the neutral thing isn't as much of an issue now. It still happens every now and then but I must just have the knack of it now so overall it doesn't bother me as much.
      I did like the sound of the stock exhaust but when I tested the bike it had the Termi on it and I was sold straight away ha. It is much louder though but it does sound gooooood ha.
      No apology needed Ha. Like to hear what others think. I always appreciate it.
      Thank you for watching the video and getting in touch. You will need to let me know what you think once you put an aftermarket exhaust on ha🤙🏼

      No I certainly wouldn’t rule it out at all. As bad as it sounds I only really wanted the S model for the colour. And was happy to get the upgrades with it. I did get mine at a fantastic prices though if it wasn’t for the price I got it at then I would have either went for the standard or another bike all together. I’ve even tested the smaller monsters and they have held there own as well 🤙🏼 cheers for getting on touch. Love to know everyone’s thoughts.

    Your spot on mate. Nice review. Yeah neutral is a pain ,I've found easier to go from 2nd into neutral than from first, when pulling up. Another issue is when you pull up you must make sure the N appears if only dash line is displayed bike won't start, even tho it can roll freely. There is a false neutral between 4th and 5th not frequent but keeps you on your toes. I found the Diablo tyres were very vague , I couldn't feel what the front was doing. I swapped them for some Michelin RS rubber totally changed the feel. You can trail brake into a corner and feedback from the tyre is so much better than the Diablo. Absolutely love the bike, the torque just catapults you forward , corner to corner. Like I said great review mate

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад

      Aww thanks Kym and thank you for watching really appreciate that.
      Yeah I know what you mean about the dash line. I’ve had that happen a few times. The gearing is certainly far from perfect but still absolutely love the bike. So easy to cruise about on but when the mood takes it’s got that grunt. I didn’t mind the oem tyres but as soon as I put the S22s on it was amazing. They really let the bike use it’s power.
      Cheers again and stay safe 😃🤙🏼

      Yeah I was torn between the MT10, The Monster and the Tuono. The Tuono was just a bit too expensive for me. I would have been happy with either the MT or the monster. The looks of the Ducati just swayed it more for me 😉.

      @@motorcycleMoff I test rode the Monster 1200s this morning. Took it out for 1 1/2 hrs and really enjoyed it. I specced it up with Termi's, heated grips & extended warranty but the only problem is the dealers want full rrp for it & I'm a no p/x, cash buyer!! That makes it £2,000 more than the 2020 Tuono factory & £4,000 more than the 2020 Speed triple RS. It would be my next bike for sure but for the moment, I can't get over the extra cost. Let's see what a nights sleeping on it will do!!

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад +1

      Amazing. That’s good that you got a decently lengthy test ride and that your really liked it. Yeah I was quite lucky that the one I got was an ex demo bike (had only done a 100 miles) but because it was ex demo they knocked a massive chunk of money off it. Maybe that could be an avenue you could go down. Obviously I don’t know what your budget is but I’m sure if you went for the Tuono you wouldn’t be disappointed. It would definitely be my next choice and might even be my next bike in the future 😉 it’s great to hear that you managed to get the test ride sorted. Really interested to hear the next chapter 😃

    • @ianchamberlain1631
      @ianchamberlain1631 4 года назад

      @@motorcycleMoff Phoned another local Ducati dealer who was prepared to reduce the rrp for a cash, no p/x deal. Placed my order with them this morning. They have no stock so have had to order it so I probably won't get it until mid August. I may wait and get the new Sept 1st reg.

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад +1

      Yeah that’s good. Dealerships always have room for movement when it comes to price. No harm is batting the two dealerships off of one another for who gets the sale. Yeah I was the same that’s how I ended up with the ex demo because they had no new stock and I was moving down south in a few weeks. So they priced me for the demo bike and pushed the sale through really quick to get the sale in.

    How does the low speed feel? is it annoying in bad traffic ? that’s the only thing that’s keeping me from getting this bike, heard it doesn’t like low speed but my 696 didn’t like low speed either but I became accustomed to it

      Aww cheers. Really appreciate that. In my experience I don’t think it’s too bad. I use it round town all the time and it fine to me. The worst bit I have found about slow moving traffic would be that the clutch can be a bit heavy. So can result in a bit if a aching hand. I have only ever had that issue a couple of times though. • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад +4

      Hi Rafal.
      It really depends on how your ride. I find it a very easy bike to ride. I use it for everything like commuting, town riding, quick blasts and also full days riding.
      I wouldn’t say it’s too powerful as long as your sensible. It certainly has the power there for when you want/need it but it’s also just as comfortable cruising along. It has 3 rider modes. So you can always knock the power down with it’s urban mode if you need to.
      Hope that helps and thank you for watching mate 😁🤙🏼

  • @ivohage
    @ivohage 4 года назад

    Have you ridden the 1290R? If you have: How would you say it compares to this in comfort? As in seating position and wind?

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад +1

      Sadly not. The one time I went round to KTM to test it the 1290 was getting serviced. I did test the 790 which was a fun. So if it’s anything like that. I would say not as comfortable(harder seat) but the ride position itself isn’t bad I felt more upright on the KTM. The Monster does have a sportier position but I find it comfortable and and can rise all day on it.
      I am looking to test both the 1290 and the new 890 as soon as I can though and hopefully get a video up. Obviously on these style of bikes the wind protection is non existent. Again I can only comment on the 790 and they were both give you pretty much none at all.
      Thanks for watching the video and sorry that I couldn’t be much more help 🤙🏼

    • @ivohage
      @ivohage 4 года назад

      @@motorcycleMoff no problem! Your reaction already entails so much info hahaha. I was afraid the monster is even a little sportier than the Duke. Maybe it's different on the 1290 but I'ld have to wait untill I can testride a Monster or you make the vid ;).
      I heard a lot about how consistent the wind is on the SDR and I rode one yesterday for the first time and it's true! For me at least. I don't know how they do it, but my Hypermotard 1100 EVO is crap compared to that. So much turbulence! Maybe it has to do with position though. Thinking about buying 1290R or Monster1200S. The SDR has CC though and keyless which is nice. Also has lighted switches. But the Monster is a Duc which I fell in love with. Also might be more comfy, but that's what I am trying to figure out.
      The seat was hard indeed. Got used to it though... Was pretty nice in the end. Didn't even had the performance seat on it. Read good stuff about the performance gel seat.
      Looking forward to when you'll make a video about the 1290 and hopefully drop some comments about riding position or other experiences vs. the monster or other supernakeds. :D

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  4 года назад +2

      Yeah the wind is definitely something you have to deal with. I do find for the most part I can ride long distance not too bad on the monster. Plus I recently I put a small Puig screen on the monster and that made a world of difference. So for long distances I will chuck the screen on just to take some pressure off of the torso. I certainly can’t wait to test the SDR because I know people absolutely love it and I am curious myself to see how it compares to the monster. The other naked I really liked what the MT10 but the monster just stole it for me with the looks. I absolutely love super naked. Some of the best bikes for on the road if you ask me. A good balance for longer rides and also sporty blasts. You will need to let me know what you think when you test a Monster. Will be great to hear your thoughts. 😁🤙🏼

    • @motorcycleMoff
      @motorcycleMoff  5 лет назад +1

      No I can say I have ridden the 1200 on standard suspension. The thing is for me I was originally looking to buy the 1200 R model but then decided on the S. Which was more so because the S had more Up to date electronics, quick shifter and it came in the grey. So kind of the opposite to what you might do.
      So all I can say though is suspension on the S model is fantastically. It’s mega easy to adjust and I have tried it on all levels. Comfort, sport and standard and I found that I like mine set up sort of in between standard and sport/track setting. So for me I’m glad I have the Ohlins purely for the fact that have been able to adjust it to what suits me perfectly.
      I have ridden other Ducati’s that do have standard suspension I.e a smaller monster, multistrada and for me the suspension on them was ok.

      As a replacement for the Monster? Oh I don’t know to be truly honest. I do love my naked bikes, so a Tuono or MT10 could be a good shout. Tested both and they are amazing bikes. I would struggle to go back to a sports bike as my main bike so I have played with the idea of a sports tourer like the Kawasaki 1000SX or BMW XR. I’m not quite ready to part with my Ducati just yet so will need to go on a massive testing spree to see what takes my my fancy 😉 Cheers for watching 🤙🏼
