    Silva had a few years where he melted everyone in front of him and rarely saw rd 3. His absolute dominance made mw look weak, but he also starched Griffin just after he'd lost the lhw belt. Gsp feared him and he probably could have beat coutore too and been a 4 weight champ. His ufc losses came at age 38 onwards (the age Muhammad Ali retired) so that doesn't tarnish anything.

    Jones beat ufc champions but how many of them were in his prime when he fought them? Belfort was the champion in 2004 and fought Jones in 2012, that's 8 years after he lost his championship. Quinton Jackson jackson last title defense was in 2007 and he fought Jones in 2011, that's 4 years after he was a champion. Khabib beat opponents who were in the p4p list at the time: Dustin, Conor, Gaethje and he defeated a prime RDA who went on to become the champ in less than a year after he fought Khabib. Not to mention that Khabib was absolutely dominant while Jones had several close fights.

He could not finish his opponents in 5 rounds for all these years. He was just ouponting them by using his reach, which is the longest in UFC history. His was finishing guys when Usada wasn't around. Personally i dont care much about who's the GOAT, i think the difference in eras and divisions makes it complicated and the only sort of accurate judgement u can make is division GOATs.
    But in my opinion people love to overstate Jones resume and make it seem more than it actually is. He does have a good resume yes, but when you look at it closely you'll see that it's filled with aging big names who were in the tail end of their career with old school skillsets, it is also filled with so many guys who competed in the Middleweight division which is a whole 20 pounds lighter than LHW (double the difference between say 145 and 155) so he had a huge size advantage on all those guys. Plus the 3 super close favorable decisions that he should've/could've lost, add to that how shallow his division has been talent wise in the last 10 years.
    All those factors dont make Jones' resume as impressive as people claim, compared to a GSP or a prime Anderson Silva. That's without even getting into all his PED abuse.

    • @youcantseeme2244
      @youcantseeme2244 2 года назад +1

      Exactly right. It's a never ending, no right answer conversation. But at least when comparing the same era or same divsion you can narrow it down much easier. GSP's run can't be overlooked and Silva's prime was arguably the best prime of any fighter ever.

    • @saadx7724
      @saadx7724 2 года назад +2

      @@youcantseeme2244 Yeah for sure man, this whole GOAT debate to me is very silly and that word itself has only been created recently by the social media generation. The truth is it's very difficult to say objectively who's the greatest ever in any respective sport, or at least in all the sports i follow, the amount of variables involved and how constatntly things change just makes it way too complex.
      Even in a sport as young as MMA it's still hard to compare different athletes and their greatness, for now it's easier to name the greatest in each division but even that is gonna become more difficult with time the more we will get long reigning champions. That's why i think we should just make in our mind a category of the greats of the sport, and just call those athletes ONE of the greatest ever, we dont have to name a single person THE greatest.

    Khabib is flawless in every way shape or form apart from missing weight a few times. No PED pops, never came close to losing a fight, arguably only lost 2 rounds in his career, and most 10-8s in UFC history. I take flawless domination over longevity that is tainted by PED usage and controversial victories.

      3 titles defenses is not enough. Only 13 UFC fights. Super padded record. If he stuck around and beat Oliviera, as well as a couple of the young killers coming up the ranks like Gamrot and Tsarukyan, then he’d probably be the GOAT.
