i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
On the violin "controlled squeakiness", generally it's a form of distortion and emphasis of harmonics that comes from technique. Tim uses two different techniques here, one is traditional, of playing right near, almost on the bridge (sul pont) with a lot of force, which mainly gives distorsion due to the very limited range of motion of the string, and the way it allows the scratchy bow sound to actually play through instead of being lost in the string. The other is something I've only heard in NeO pieces and Leprous/Ihsahn's Contaminate Me, which is lessening pressure with your fingers and bow, and allowing the instrument to warble between the note you should be playing, and a few harmonics. I have never found written reference to this
NeO is my favorite modern band by far. You did everything justice here and it's great to watch. They are absolutely incredible live. Also, your reactions to the music are my exact ones since I first heard them. Just absolutely floored by the talent and composition. Absolute master class in songwriting.

I don't know the name for the violin squeaking , but it's done by playing closer to the "bridge" with the bow. That way it sounds really metallic and squeky :) I myself started to play violin beecause Tim. And I've wanted to learn the same techniques he uses. So far not so good, but I'll get there!

I love NeO! They're definitely one of my favorite bands. Well, they haven't released anything in quite a while and I"m not really someone who checks live footage so maybe he improved nowadays - but comparing Xen's vocals in the earlier releases and the latter ones, I feel like there's a noticeable change in his tone (he sounds much hoarser and more "tired" on Urn compared to the demo or the first album), plus I've heard he lost his voice live at least once so maybe his approach isn't very safe or he isn't particularly very careful with his voice on live settings? Tim on the other hand doesn't have that much of a range (G2-D5) but his voice compliments Xen's so well and the contrast between Tim's and Xen's works so well!
I love them too! Its possible he lost his voice for reasons unrelated to his technique, but I haven't heard much about it so hard to say. You can definitely do these types of screams safely. Hopefully he's in good vocal health! And yeah I agree Tim's singing is a great contrast. G2-D5 is about where I am. Well, D5 requires me to really warm up and get my voice going before I'll go for it
Lol sorry I just noticed I ended up eating a bunch of words and some sentences didn't end up finished lol I should always proof-read stuff before writing. I made a profile for Tim on The Range Planet (formerly known as The Range Place) if anyone is curious to know what pitches he hits in each song therangeplanet.proboards.com/thread/325/tim-charles
It could be due to age, not sure. I've definitely noticed their more recent live stuff has Xen skipping some of the more strenuous parts, long screams, etc. Then again, he may have just been saving his voice.
TFW you open RUclips and see "posted 14 seconds ago". Good stuff, as always my man. I'm feeling more confident in my upcoming releases with some vocals thanks to these videos! Keep it up.

The violinist is doing that by bowing close to the bridge. It’s called ‘sul ponticello’ - there are other variations on the name but that’s the one usually encountered most often in classical scores, usually shortened to sul pont. - the opposite of that, sul tasto, is where you play more over the neck, getting a more flutey/hollow sound. It’s the same playing on guitar close to the bridge vs. neck (but not usually referred to as sul pont/etc to my knowledge) or... even choosing which pickup(s) to use in a given section of music. I really don't know what it is but I just can't get into that style of clean vocals. I don't necessarily hate it. But I definitely don't love it either. And sometimes I really don't wanna hear it. But he's good at it. The growls/screams were solid too. Sounded like he used some kinda subtle tunnel throat on some of the highs that added some dope depth if I heard it right. But the music was rediculously nice, especially that bass! And the drums were almost too clean lol Hell of a group for damn sure, even if it's not something I'd listen to much honestly. Unlike the "if it's not what I prefer it's trash" groups out there, I can say that 😂✌👊

How about some A Capella Metal? Have a look at the band Van Canto. Songs "Lost Forever" or "Badaboom".
Check out Shadow Of Intent Oudenophobia or Cthonic Odyssey
Please do Lowlife - deadweight, there are so many different vocal styles in that song
Unlike the "if it's not what I prefer it's trash" groups out there, I can say that 😂✌👊
Ok please please I beg from the bottom of my heart, do Draconian or Wintersun!!! I would of asked for Draconian in the other vid but wasn't sure if you would like it:(. Now I see kinda in the same boat.
PS. Dig the magic mat and d&d figure!!
