  • This video describes how to install keyless entry in a 2002, 2003, or 2004 Honda CR-V LX.
    Back when these cars were initially released, this was an accessory option offered directly by Honda for several hundred dollars. Fortunately now, the accessory kit is very easy to get, cheap, and the install only takes a few minutes!
    Here are all the parts mentioned in the video. I personally get all mine from All Discount Parts in Boulder, CO - they're great!

    Holder, Rod | 90602-S2K-003 | bit.ly/30EoqEy

    Thanks for the video guide.
    I installed mine on a 2002 year CR-V LX (the first year for 2nd gen in the US)
    There was only 1 difference from the video, the plastic dash piece was different, there was no door for the screw, so no place to put your fingers in to pull the storage piece out.
    To get that piece of plastic out on a 2002 year model, remove the screw. Then on the deepest part of the cubbie hole place your hand in and push up on the top of it, that should dislodge the piece a bit. From there it's wiggling it out and pulling it free, if you still have the rubber mat that goes into that storage hole try using that for some grip.
    Completely skipped disconnecting the battery and the revving stuff and it worked fine.

    This video was a godsend. I have a 2003 LX without keyless, and my lock cylinders were loose so my key only worked in one of my doors, and who knows how long that was going to last before I can't unlock any of the doors with the key. I started to call around to locksmiths who all told me they didn't have the parts to fix it. But then I found this, ordered the part and slapped it in, and a couple of minutes and $100 later I can lock and unlock my car now no problem. And I didn't have make a dozen more phone calls to maybe have a guy come out for a couple hours and charge me a couple hundred dollars!

      I’m so glad you found it helpful! Funnily enough, that’s exactly why I did it to my car as well - my lock cylinder was all screwed up, and after not much longer I wasn’t going to be able to get in the car!

    Did this without unhooking the battery (because I couldn't find a wrench for that) and it worked fine right after I plugged it in - didn't do any of that hocus pocus stuff with the window and rpms and whatnot. But YMMV, I suppose.

    • @DylanClarkSallee
      @DylanClarkSallee  3 года назад

      Yeah, I think that stuff is just best practice to avoid screwing with the ECM. YMMV - figured I would do it the Honda-recommended way. :)

    Will this work for crv ex rather than lx? Is there anything different with the wiring that you know of?

  • @JPWarrior02

    Picking parts out of an 06 EX. I wonder if that module would work with the OG FOBs retrofitted to an 04 LX.

    • @DylanClarkSallee
      @DylanClarkSallee  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, probably would. I think there is a part number directly on the module that you could compare - I believe it’s the same for that entire generation of CR-Vs. You’d need to do the re-learning procedure to associate the existing fobs with the new transceiver - I think the instructions are in one of those docs in the description.

      I would guess not - I believe this is specific to the Honda CR-V LX 2002-2004. But there might be a similar procedure for the Accord out there somewhere! I would check the Honda eParts store and see if a keyless accessory kit was offered for your vehicle at the time of purchase.

    heyo, question. I'm looking to install this same module in my 01 civic. Does the panic button on the remote set off an alarm? When the doors are locked or unlocked, does the horn honk and/or do the turn signals flash?

      I'm not sure if the module will work the same, if at all, in a civic. But in my 2004 CR-V, yes, the panic button works and the honk/lights flash when locking and unlocking.

    • @DylanClarkSallee
      @DylanClarkSallee  4 года назад

      I do not unfortunately - it might not have something like this. I would search for/buy the shop manual. Additionally, you can often find a list of all the OEM accessory options that were available when the car was first sold. Each accessory item should have an installation manual. I think they're available on the Honda eParts store. Good luck!
