I have not studied this piece, but, for stylistic purposes, I would suggest listening to pieces played on the "er hu," which is a Chinese two-stringed violin with no fingerboard. ("Er" is Chinese for "two.) The two strings are usually tuned to the violin's D and A strings. The bowhair passes between the two strings. RUclips has many er hu recordings.
