Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero (and my dad😂) is the reason I got into cars. When I was 13 in 2001 around the time the game came out me and my dad started modifying his e36 328. One of the first mods he let me pick out was an exhaust. So of course I went with the one hks made for the e36 at the time. By the time fast and furious released (only knew about the movie because the original trailer was included with the game) we had manual swapped it , m3 cams and a tune. Car eventually was the first 1000whp example a few years later and it all started because of those highways. Edit: also txr0 was the only game that I knew of at the time that had an e36.
I still have TXR Zero, 3, Drift and Drift 2. (Yes Tokyo Xtreme Racer made drift games heavily influenced by Initial D) but I don't remember my copy promoting the original Fast and Furious. I was 16 in 2001 for reference. I've been desperately hoping someday some company will have major fans of those games and make remasters or remakes of them. I know on PC there's an independent guy developing a game called Night Runners which is inspired by TXR but I have no idea if it'll ever reach console.
@@tinystar3010 yup mine had the trailer and a tokyo street racing documentary called Tokyo hardcore that you can still find on youtube. In the bonus or extras categories. Cant remember what it was called.
5-6 year ago my 15 year-old son was begging me to get one of these and store it till we could bring home to the US. Do you have any idea how much I hate myself for not doing it! Good news is that I did get super-nice, one-owner, mostly-stock R32 😅. Enjoy that car! You’re loving many people’s dream
Very excited for you Larry - the process of driving and enjoying your car then restoring it back to its former glory is one that I relish. I am currently doing the same thing with my S15 Spec-R in Sagamihara. Glad to see you and Dino taking a step back from shooting others cars and getting to enjoy your own. Have a blast at TAS and look forward to your content!
While I do see inspirations in Gran Turismo and details that stand out there, this video also heavily reminds me of racing in Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero and Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. I loved the entire TXR series as much if not more than Gran Turismo and I own every GT game too. In TXR3 you actually begin your career on the C1 Loop. Such a nostalgic throwback for me.
I like the white gauges on the Bayside and his taillights are upgraded, I think. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to change your 34 a bit, Larry. Thanks again for sharing your adventures in Japan.
OMG I haven't played Gran Turismo in years but I still recognized every single turn and straight away on that beautiful C1 road! Amazing man! I hope to do the same one day IF I ever finish or can afford to finish my Supra haha! Love your outdo btw, sick mix up!
Random comment here: My name is Kevin, and when I used to play World of Warcraft many years ago, my character name was Louis Vuitton. I laughed when Louis was talking about how he got his name. Thanks for the great video footage showcasing the "twin" R34 GT-Rs on the C1 Loop. I can't wait to see the progress on your R34 restoration Larry. Greetings from San Francisco
Absolutely outstanding Larry one of the best drives you can do in any car Real question is Mr Chen when are you importing it to Australia to get a Nitto 3.2L done by CRD ;)
Best cars were done 25 years ago. Both my carbon clownshoe preproduction model and my last of line turbobrick are 98. Soon to be 26 years, and more I own them and more I drive them the more I have drove of their total mileage and more they are imprinted in my life story.
Now this goes to show you that the average person doesn't even think about having another car so he can drive while in the country. That is different from having money and not having money because I personal wouldn't even had thought about that at all and have live in other countries before amazing isn't when you think out of the BOX. LIke always enjoys your video
The difficult thing in Japan is finding someone willing to have your car registered in their name. Larry obviously has a trusting and generous Japanese friend
Larrr i think it looks faded cuz the "clear coat" which is a paint code needs polishing then a ceramic coat protection.... after that cures ppf Everything... It's cheaper. Than to get a fuel respray of the entire vehicle , a polish then protection. Do. A panel seee how it looks then you can decide to do the whole car redone at a paint booth, which I think it's better cuz then you can lay down more mm in clear coat ..😎😍
You could literally do a paint correction and more than likely have it looking better than it did new, paint wise anyway. Assuming you dont have clear peeling off.
R34’s on the wangan? 🥱 Z32’s on the wangan? 🥵 Sorry i just feel the R’s are getting to a point of being overrated. They don’t excite me as much anymore.

Man it was the best game. I forgot how amazing that game was. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

One of the best games I’ve played as a kid. Growing up in the early 2000s was something else.
Was it actually on the disc like a featurette? Might have to pull mine out and check
Dinos R34 looks so good, the bronze coloured wheels and the design of them wheels looks brilliant😊
as an italian car guy i'm so proud of Dino waiting for an italian friend to finish the tune in Japan on a Japanese car.
How can Dino make such high quality videos from that nismo phone.. LEGEND
Dino's paint, lights, wheels, stance. 🤌
Wow,2 blue colour R34 both Larry & Dino, both R34 look like twin brothers to me.Great and awesome guys

Thanks Larry for the really nice BGM on the intro, and at 11:35 !
It's such a treat to be able to watch your footage of both of the bayside blues driving together. Thank you Larry!
The Corvettes tuned in Japan always look good
I love this video! I follow Dino as well & I really like you guys bringing the R34's together & having a good time together, more videos like this 👍

Look, bayside and fadeside blue together 🔥🔥🔥
You should drive these cars on Japanese country roads too sometime. Maybe even on the touge roads.

Dino DC made a video at the Collezione store which seemed amazing

JP Performance in Germany had the first KW Suspension for the R34 in the world with KW Development Team, back 8 years ago.

Larry was playing "Getting Kicked Out Simulator: Tokyo Drive"... 😁😜
Love your car bro.... color is fantastic man
Gave me big Tokyo extreme racer on Dreamcast vibes..
Sometimes I find it hilarious when 2 guys talk to each other in the wild and both are holding a camera in their hand with a stretched arm :D.
Great video vs the regular stuff. thx
Really sweeeeet, are you going to do some togue runs with these? Btw what are your future goals besides enjoying cars(that's my great passion too)?

Tokyo is so bright we can see the glow in the west from port Angeles Washington......😅

Say hi to Dino from me.
Kamran
Nice catch Larry, "they would win and they would come....back". Hahaha
Reminds me of freeway speedway movies
What exhaust does Dino have?
Tomei Powered & Mines front pipes
Louis ain't lying about the R32 not about Godzilla -1

Larry Chen drinking a soda, coming to theatres near you
gosh.. I was thinking tokyo xtreme racer on dreamcast ha
Sad to see in a year or so these R34s will just turn into garage/trailer queens
I'd say the R35 is a real Godzilla having won 2015 Bathurst as well and the commentators dubbing it after the win.
You could literally do a paint correction and more than likely have it looking better than it did new, paint wise anyway. Assuming you dont have clear peeling off.
In this upload: Larry experiences extreme License Plate Envy 😅
Hey Larry!!! What is your outro music... been asking for years.. help a brother out!!
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero!!! 😁
Get those wheels in black chrome🤌🏽
“Ok!” 😂
Why is parking anywhere in japan an issue?
How come it’s always the tuner cars getting kicked out and everyone seems to be able to enjoy their time there?
Just came to say I saw this 8 mins after you posted it! Take that everyone else!
us mexicanz fuckin' love the GTR!
I get that its important to be respectful but why are they so quick to kick you out when you haven't done anything?
Deterrence. Preemptive expulsion before you can even think about the possibility of racing or driving hard.
Larry you need LED taillights lol
Noo, keep it stock looking, people need to preserve those cars
so sad they ruined this PA with that fence and the speed bumps
👀👍
👀
Tokyo extreme racer not gran turismo homie
Sorry but the white rims are NOT it Larry. Sick cars and video otherwise
I like the dark bronze Volk Racing TE-37's
I like this contrast between car color and rims. 🫶🏁
R34’s on the wangan? 🥱
Z32’s on the wangan? 🥵
