I bought the Coiltek over Christmas and have swung it a bit. I have the ML 6" and 11". Noticed rather quickly that the Coiltek has support on mounting tabs. Why this is even an issue with the ML coils kind of baffles me. Thanks for the vid!
I noticed as you pointed out that the coiltek had ear stiffeners I wonder why Minelab doesn’t do that. I would think that would help stiffen the ears up and keep from breaking so easily.
Great review 👍 I have both and was expecting better results for the coiltek no complaints but haven’t noticed any any difference in the field other than a little extra covered so I’ll be keeping the coiltek 15 as my go to coil and use the Minelab as my backup.
Mr. Gig, great review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ You went over what most of us want to know about the coils. I did have some of the same questions that have already been posted by the others... Standing by for the answers!!! The coiltek 10x5 is looking like my next coil, trying to sort through some trashy spots 🗑️.
Great comparison Gig ! The Coiltek does seem to go through the water easier than the Minelab coil. Durability 6 months no issues with the Coiltek coil ! HH !
Thanks it helps a lot I have the Minelab 15inch and wondered about other brands from what you have presented fixing the Minelab is the better option weight is a huge factor when swinging all day at the beach, every ounce counts. when in dry sand I will tap my coil against my sand scoop to knock off sand and it feels like I droped a brick off. good job Steve.
Have you noticed more false signals with the large ML coil? Sometimes I hit a blade of grass and get a signal. I have to turn the sensitivity down when I use the bigger coil. I cannot go above 20 without getting a lot of false signals. Do you get the falsing with the CT?
I bought the coil-tech due to the fact that if my lab can't put out a product that won't break on those ears then I'm not purchasing s*** from them besides the equinox that leaks and the wobbly shaft that I replaced I have a sovereign excess to a pro and I've had a coil tech 15-in coil on that and it's all I've really swung on it and it still is waterproof and does well and it's 23 years old coil tech baby
Good review Gigmaster, Answered most of my questions on the coils. Thanks so much for the reviews. Keep the video clips coming, too cold here to get out hunting!
Having an Equinox coil ear break myself there's no way I would buy a similarly designed coil or detector that had one. Yes it's repairable but totally an unnecessary repair if it had been designed correctly. Add to that leaking issues and a new pod costing over 400 dollars, no thanks. My Excal is 20 years old and the only thing replaced has been batteries. Minelab needs to step up and take care of their customers.
I'm waiting for a new machine I did see a video with somebody posting and bragging about coil Tech 10.5 several people said it's amazing but I'm going to wait on the Deus 2 seems like that guy Calabash think that's that's the new boy in town the problem with his videos is he's bragging how small the targets are he's finding the back of a small earrings stuff like that I want that big fat silver and gold so the nox to me still bit easier machine to operate and I guess to all you out there I really believe it's not the machines that finds the gold it's the education studying the beaches all locations getting the right information I think if you don't know what your doing does it matter what machine or coil you get you won't find anything unless you do your homework thanks for the great video I won't be buying another coil for now I love the videos you guys do when you go out to the location and explain the search areas education for me is why keep watching all the RUclips channels but the gigmaster is my favorite
Yes I've watched a lot of vids about the Deus 2 some I did pick up a bit of slight of hand work no doubt it's a good machine quite possible ML will soon produce a update to the Nox firmware interesting times
Kinda funny Steve that you're doing the comparison between the two coils I've been looking to buy the 15 inch coil and definitely I would buy the minelab although I do most of my scanning on land don't really need the depth I'm looking for more coverage.
I use the Coiltek 15 inch round coil. The supports both snapped off on me. Coiltek is honoring the warranty and sending a new replacement coil. Do you think coil stiffeners would be a wise purchase to reinforce the supports on the 15 in coiltek coil?
Good morning ,,mr Gig I bought the 14x9 coiltex it’s hevy,,, my cuestión is ,, can I clean the coil cover?? Because the 11 coils that’s easy to clean,, same time is to munch sand inside the coils,,, that my cuestión,,, thank Mr Gig ,,God blessed ,,
hey Steve have you noticed at all with the coiltek that in heavy mineralization at the beach the equinox kicks into beach overload mode. the symbol comes up next to the battery indicator. I find mine does it quite regularly at some of the beaches i hunt due to the black sand i am presuming. have you ever had that with the minelab coil.
Hey Steve, does Coiltek make an 11 inch coil, and if so, how much is it? On the Minelab coil, would it make a difference if you loosen the plastic coil nut/bolt when not in use or stored away, to eliminate the constant stress on the coil ears? Great video.
Hey Mr Gigmaster!!! I just recentently subscribed to your channel. I loved the videos that you have put out there for every aspect of metal detecting the beach. I live in Alabama and frequently fish the Gulf and always have my Garrett with me but can never get around to doing any detecting around the beach but you have truly encouraged me to get that thing out there. I bought this detector while out in Oregan while my wife was a travel nurse. Although very expensive at the time and heavy, (2005), I feel as if its not the detector that I need for beach metal detecting!! I have really enjoyed watching all of your videos and will continue to do so. There isn't many detectorists on the beaches from Gulf Shores to Fort Morgan, AL but i do know there are some restrictions around the Fort Morgan area also. Thanks for all your input on the Minelab, which I have considered purschasing, but could use your insight also. White powdered sand is the best way I can described these beaches!!! LOL Help me get the fishing pole out of my hands and put the metal detector in them!!! Thanks Again, JT
Its Lunch time, fern leaf soup made into a purée of nettles and milk curd pancakes. on the side tobacco dust swept from the ventilation shafts nice vitamin B. with Dandelion leaves ,general weeds topped off with pine needles for a vitamin c boost
Coil tech coils have a lot of problems poor factory qc seen a multitude of them go bad or come out of the factory bad minelab coils are made better less problems less money as well do what you want it your money 👍

Both are designed in Adelaide, South Australia too.

They want you to buy coiltek.they get a kickback
Good review! I wonder if one of the coils may perform better with bottle cap identification/rejection.
I noticed as you pointed out that the coiltek had ear stiffeners I wonder why Minelab doesn’t do that. I would think that would help stiffen the ears up and keep from breaking so easily.
Very informative Gigmaster. Thank you for sharing. Hope you get to get out before the bad weather on Sunday. Have a great weekend😊
Gig, thanks for going over the two coils. Your presentation was very informative.

I'm glad to see you do this one Steve. I'm thinking about getting a 15" coil for my 800 but I'm a little afraid of Minelab coils!

Not able to go much
Thanks for the update

Amazing how much weight sand can add!
Never had a problem with any gear all good.

About the same
There is also a larger 18 inches. I think it should be deeper, but I don't know how about anti-interference?
Which one pinpointed better or did you notice any difference?
About the same
Gig, thank you for the coil comparisons. Your presentation was very informative.
I.ve had 2 -15" coilttechs used on a minelab explorer se, both coils had short lives both shorted out. I'll stay with the minelab coils.
Hmmm.... ⚡
i would like to get the coiltek 6x10, great vid. the 15 inch is heavier than i like.
I think I'm gonna go coiltek to go with the 900 but I don't know wether to wait and get the new 18" coil or not

What's coil use on beach with black sands? Need more deep than the 11" coil
As always reviewing and helping. Thank you!
Hola ,entonses no llegan más ondo sino que es para cubirmar espacio ,llegan lo mismo que la de 11 pulgadas ,solo que abarca más espacio al detectar.

Competition is our friend! 😂

Get some shims for the rubber so it fits tight in the supports every time and you are never over stressing them.

Yes, got to clean that sand out regularly!
@@Gigmaster thank so munch mr Gig,, we waiting for more videos
Hey Gigmaster...Did you notice any difference with sound with these 2 coils?
No
Good comparison of the two coils. I bought the support brackets from you and will be installing them soon on my 11” coil!
Question, do you void your warranty when using that coil? takes more energy from the box to fill the coil.
What did you use to repair the Equinox?
hey Steve have you noticed at all with the coiltek that in heavy mineralization at the beach the equinox kicks into beach overload mode. the symbol comes up next to the battery indicator. Gigmaster,
As usual, great job on the review/comparison of coils. I'm curious if you noticed any difference in drag when swinging in the water.
Bill
Did not notice a difference
Hey Steve, does Coiltek make an 11 inch coil, and if so, how much is it? On the Minelab coil, would it make a difference if you loosen the plastic coil nut/bolt when not in use or stored away, to eliminate the constant stress on the coil ears? Great video.
Check with Don over at north georgia relics for the coil. Dont think that would help on the tabs.
Do you have a video on the tab repair?? Happened to me too...I lost a month of detecting time...
Greetings from Finland!! (Great video...thank you!!)
Yes
Coil stiffeners 14 bux slides over the coil ears on the minelab coils makes them heavy duty like the Nokta coils
Great comparison. Have a 15” coil tech. Functions great. Both products are quality. Like you say- it’s a personal preference. Thanks 👍

If you dont plan on submerging the head get the nox!
Does James sell the coil tab reinforcements for the equinox tabs? If so, how can I contact him?

How do you repair the coil
Great information as always!
Have Minelab improved their coils?
