Im so happy we've reached a point in technology where smaller channels can put high quality videos that rival and surpass bigger channels. Im constantly surprised when i find great channels like this in the best way possible
It's just like Super Mario 64. The core gameplay loop is so strong that it didn't need much else, but it spoiled us with a legendary soundtrack, really good graphics for its time, immersive sound design, an intriguing story and a surprisingly competent multiplayer mode anyway.
I think it is important to note that what you said about the introduction of the flood turning the story on its head also applies to the Oracle and its sentinels. You think that you have found a way to stop the flood and Covenant only to realize you have a new enemy once again. Love Halo and thanks for the video!
I honestly prefer Halo CE. Its partially nostalgia, but it holds up so well. It is old and does not have modern mechanics, but to be honest, i don't even miss them. The game is just that good. Been doing achievements on MCC and I just finished the par scores for halo and halo 3. Two betrayals was a nasty one to complete. Halo 2 is.... brutal. Its like 5 times harder than ce or 3. I like that you mentioned the sountrack. The Soundtrack(and sound effects) is what makes halo epic. I always say that a good soundtrack is what separates good games from great games. Think about it. Some of the best games out there have such iconic soundtracks. It wouldn't be Halo without the music. And yes, the newer games soundtracks done by 343 aren't as good. They're ok, but its not the same. Marty O Donnell really knew what he was doing.
Your editing and passion for your videos has made me want to start uploading again, good on you mate! Also a die hard original Halo trilogy fan! Cheers!
This is still my favorite Halo campaign. Imo it has the best core gameplay of the series between the health system, enemy AI and encounter design, weapon balancing and strength, and general pace of combat is done the best here in my opinion. The only things I think are either superfluous or just weak is the flashlight and some of the vehicles respectively. The repetition doesn’t bother me as the encounters are all usually different enough that the game rides the momentum it’s built all the way to a strong finale in The Maw. The fact that it arguably has the best general shooting fundamentals and enemy design in a series that’s run this long tells me that any geometric sameiness that the levels run into in the last 3 missions doesn’t hold this game back when compared to more modern shooters and titles. It’s up there with the OG Doom for me as the best FPS campaign I’ve played.
I think people massively underestimate things besides the noob combo on legendary, hell... I see some players spam that and it just slows them down and makes them rely on cover to charge up, especially when elites dodge the charged shots a bunch. Plasma pistol's normal firing is also so underrated, spamming stuns is amazing when you're suppressing the right enemies, let's you play so aggressively when making good use of grenades. (Which can also be used even if you know it'll likely miss, just to make the enemies dodge instead of attacking) Things become more situational, but the situations are still very much there Needler I definitely find the least places for where I love it, but... When a hunter is hot on your tail, too close to use stickies against them or you're all out of grenades in general, not giving you their back at all, supercombine takes them out real nice, just be aware of what you're backing into and it's a free win. It's also nice at certain distances in some places where elites tend to dodge your other options, and it'll blow through weaker enemies just fine when trying to conserve some ammo. Just having any back-pocket weapon is nice when trying to avoid reload delays, which btw., plasma pistol doesn't have. Seriously, an infinite plasma pistol + grenades could solo legendary quite easily.
It was made to be fun, that's the reason why there are still people playing the gearbox PC port multiplayer every night over 20 years later. The fun will never go anywhere, it will still be there even in 100 years, as long as there remains a way to play it ofc xD +the art style and that all fits together makes it stand out even now Yeah, CE looked good for 2001, but Halo was never a graphics showcase, that is something that 343 2.0 still doesn't understand.
God, i really just find myself replaying the campaign mode just because how it is good, even lately finishing it for the second time. I die a lot, but damn it feels nice just getting thru something difficult on some levels. I'm surprised that the multiplayer is still active (albeit has alot of cheaters) to this very day, even playing in custom maps.

COD Zombies sound effect for keys was hilarious.

Totally agree, I actually had a clip from Mario 64 when I was talking about gameplay loop but changed to a Halo CE one at the last minute.
The Sniper and Shotgun are S tier even on legendary.

i was taking a break from infinite and played CE multiplayer on MCC for a bit. Super fun!
The original halo trilogy's multiplayer is pretty dlow paced compared to modern games, but it's still a ton of fun!

Yes! Unless you want to laso campaigns it, or in pvp if you meet trolls in your team
I think the combat revolved mod is the best way to play it
Halo ce truly is the goat
Because it's good.
