Dylan O Brien got into a serious accident while filming the train scene, which nearly killed him, causing them to delay shooting while he recovered. That little cheer he does when they're being carried away was actually Dylan breaking character for a second because he was proud of himself for getting through the scene.
What sucks is that the part in the scene where he got hurt was the very beginning meaning that not only was shooting delayed they didn’t even finish the first scene
For those who don't know, Newt dies on page 250 thus the fandom hates that number with a pASSION! Also, sad fact, that girl Sonya? She's Newt's little sister. WICKD found them as kids and then separated them by sending Newt into the maze before she went. He used to look through the window in her dorm to try and catch a glimpse of her and make sure she was ok. He never forgot that her real name was Lizzy until WICKD wiped all his memories and sent him into the maze. He died never knowing that the person he loved most was still alive and that he got to meet her again after years. Cue my sad ass lol

I agree completely. Dylan went through so much after his accident with that opening scene. And at the time he was supposed to be filming this and Teen Wolf and both had to get put on hiatus. He was barely in the last 2 seasons of TW because of it. And he wears a beard now to cover any scars he may have. The last thing I saw him in was the All Too Well short film. He’s still an amazing actor though. And I’m so proud of his dedication to come back. 🖤

Also I think that him not reading the books make his commentary/review much more honest since he has no idea what is coming. He can either like or dislike it on its own merits. It was really amazing because the letter at the end the Newt writes for HP was actually written by the actor who played as Newt (Thomas Brodie Sangster) then read aloud for the first time in that scene. So Thomas's (Dylan's) react was all real🥺🥺
One curiosity: in the books the zombies are called Cranks and they have not totally lost their minds. They can talk and think, but their bodies are diyng and their minds comes and goes between rage, memories, insanity and violence. But as long as time passes they are more lost in their insanity. I wish the movies kept the cranks the same as the books. It would have been more believable as a possible future for people to get an infection that turns them rabid instead of going the full on zombie route.

The prequel book explains why Newt wasn’t immune. His sister was immune and WICKED came to take her and her parents fought back and they accidentally killed the parents so they had to take Newt as well. Also Brenda knew Thomas before he went into the Maze
This movie series is crazy because the books aren't really like this at all - the movies are fine as standalones, but they veer far from the books which are better and i wish they would have followed those more. Still good on their own though. Glad you enjoyed it! Newt and Minho = best characters in the books AND the movies. I also agree, the Maze Runner is the best movie.
I really loved the idea of doing something different in the movies, but doing the Thomas is the real cure thing and just go away put the character in a very selfish position comparing to the books, also with that they could cure Newt which was inevitable in the books, so i don't forgive them for that 👀

theres been so many theories/like headcannons where (especially since minho was a runner) as soon as they got to the safe haven, minho would spend as much free time running, pushing himself bc he couldnt get to newt in time
Tbh Newt is the hero of the movie even though he knew he was going to die he didn't stop fighting, and stood right by thomas side. Mhino also managed to save this movie not only by his amazing performance but the fact that his character went through mental torture for months and still recovered. But lots of credit to Newt, still grieving about his death but im happy you found the trilogy good. Amazing performance if you will excuse me i got some water to drink!
Teresa is straight cold. No misunderstanding. Also, Gally has possibly the best line in the movie trilogy in this one. Love how they did him in this. He just goes hard and gets shit done.

The letter... hits every time. Really. I actually had a dream few days after I have watched the last movie and it was just this actor coming to my house and talking to me for ever. I love his accent so fucking much. The only reason I cried during Teresa's death was because of Dylan's (Thomas) acting. He was just so good. Hopefully we will get some more movies with him. He deserves it.
Now I realised... If HP had listened to what Tiffany has to say in this, Newt wouldn't have died. If Tiffany hadn't betrayed them in the previous film, she would have found out about the blood and found the cure sooner, without so many casualties. They didn't finish the Divergent movie series and they aren't going to because the last flopped so bad at the box office. I hated the movies. While I loved the books. I also hated the Maze runner movies. The books were far better. I love Lin Manuel Miranda. But movies or Broadway shows that have his music in it are a hit or a miss for me. I loved Moana, Mary Poppins Returns, and Encanto. But I disliked Hamilton and In The Heights. Hopefully his music for the live action The Little Mermaid will be great.

The first movie is my favorite for sure, then the second one, then the third. The first was the most intriguing and accurate to the books. The second made a few changes that in my opinion kept the energy up, in a way the book kind of bored me with. Then this third one made the most changes. I really disliked the kiss and the fact that they confirmed that there was a cure after all. The books never fully confirm one way or the other, and I feel like that was better. Really fun watching your videos, as always.

I read the books but I had very little issues with the movies. They’re different but with the authors creative license, he helped make the changes he thought would be better on screen but they do leave out a lot of backstory for the characters. I’ll never forgive them not acknowledging Newt and Lizzy, his sister was there and film only fans didn’t even know who she was. I think it’s an underrated film and book series, kind of shadowed over by the fact that we were getting so many dystopian film series around that time.
Definitely looking forward to watching this commentary reaction. Got some water in the fridge getting cold for when I watch this video. This one is my favorite one after the first movie in this trilogy. I still need to read the book of this one though. I highly recommend the 2015 movie "The Martian". #Bingers
newt's one of the characters i care the most about in the world tbh i love him so so much. literally just seeing the short clip of his letter at the end made me tear up, i was sobbing like a baby the first time i saw his death. and the second time. and the third. i think my favorite movie is probably this one just bc of newt, but also bc teresa died and i hate her so i was pretty happy. i understand why ppl don't like the movie, but tbh that moment when newt goes "tommy... please..." is enough for me to rank the entire movie on top 1. i love newtmas so much im sorry

Oh the death cure was the best for me, I always tend to like the ending movies of a series it seems. It was the best movie of 2018 for me 🤷♀️ I would recommend the movie American Assassin, it's got Dylan Obrien (HP lol) and it's really good! #bingers

I’ve never seen any of the Fast and the Furious films or films like it so I never saw that comparison. My favorites in order are The Death Cure, The Scorch Trials, then The Maze Runner. This was a series I where I didn’t read the books I only watched the films. My sister read the books and said they’re really different.

i've watch this series so many times, but every time i get to newt's death and his letter i sob like i've never seen it before. literally the best character, should never of died 😭
So the movie was originally supposed to come out in 2017, but came out in 2018. There was an accident in that 1st scene where Thomas and Vince are trying to get on the train, so they had to pause filming for Dylan O’Brien (Thomas) to recover from his injuries. Which took about a year, including physical therapy. Newt wasn’t bit by a crank, he doesn’t have the immunity enzyme in his blood, so the airborne virus infected him. Even though the movie is a bit different from the book, the one thing that bothers me is Teresa & Thomas kissing at the end, cause in the book Thomas saw her as a friend at the end, nothing more!
Yeah this one had so much potential!! I used to be such a huge fan of the books and the movies, and in the books there actually is no cure and it always bugs me that here they tried so hard to make thomas special when he wasn't. Also the Teresa and Thomas romance that they tried to force here was just too much lol but Newt and Minho totally saved the movie for me idk. There's a deleted scene from this movie at the part where Newt was showing Thomas he was infected, the deleted scene was of Newt telling Thomas about how he got his limp(which is never mentioned in the first movie but if you look closely at how he walks then you can see it) by jumping off the maze wall in a suicide attempt because of his depressed state but his leg got tangled in the ivy on the wall and snapped it in 3 different places and he landed on the floor where later Minho found him and carried him back to the Glade but they never told anyone what actually happened out there. Everyone says that the scene should have been kept in the movie because it tells how much trust he has with Thomas by telling him a secret only him and Minho know, and how deep Newt and Minho's friendship goes and how he saved him from ending his own life, so Newt want to save Minho too.

I really loved the idea of doing something different in the movies, but doing the Thomas is the real cure thing and just go away put the character in a very selfish position comparing to the books, also with that they could cure Newt which was inevitable in the books, so i don't forgive them for that 👀

Tbh Newt is the hero of the movie even though he knew he was going to die he didn't stop fighting, and stood right by thomas side. Mhino also managed to save this movie not only by his amazing performance but the fact that his character went through mental torture for months and still recovered. But lots of credit to Newt, still grieving about his death but im happy you found the trilogy good. Amazing performance if you will excuse me i got some water to drink!
Teresa is straight cold. No misunderstanding. Also, Gally has possibly the best line in the movie trilogy in this one. Love how they did him in this. He just goes hard and gets shit done.

The letter... hits every time. Really. I actually had a dream few days after I have watched the last movie and it was just this actor coming to my house and talking to me for ever. I love his accent so fucking much. The only reason I cried during Teresa's death was because of Dylan's (Thomas) acting. He was just so good. Hopefully we will get some more movies with him. He deserves it.

If HP had listened to what Tiffany has to say in this, Newt wouldn't have died.
If Tiffany hadn't betrayed them in the previous film, she would have found out about the blood and found the cure sooner, without so many casualties.

They didn't finish the Divergent movie series and they aren't going to because the last flopped so bad at the box office. I hated the movies. While I loved the books. I also hated the Maze runner movies. The books were far better. I love Lin Manuel Miranda. But movies or Broadway shows that have his music in it are a hit or a miss for me. I loved Moana, Mary Poppins Returns, and Encanto. But I disliked Hamilton and In The Heights. Hopefully his music for the live action The Little Mermaid will be great.

The first movie is my favorite for sure, then the second one, then the third. The first was the most intriguing and accurate to the books. The second made a few changes that in my opinion kept the energy up, in a way the book kind of bored me with. Then this third one made the most changes. I really disliked the kiss and the fact that they confirmed that there was a cure after all. The books never fully confirm one way or the other, and I feel like that was better. Really fun watching your videos, as always.

I read the books but I had very little issues with the movies. They’re different but with the authors creative license, he helped make the changes he thought would be better on screen but they do leave out a lot of backstory for the characters.
I’ll never forgive them not acknowledging Newt and Lizzy, his sister was there and film only fans didn’t even know who she was. I think it’s an underrated film and book series, kind of shadowed over by the fact that we were getting so many dystopian film series around that time.
Definitely looking forward to watching this commentary reaction.

newt's one of the characters i care the most about in the world tbh i love him so so much. literally just seeing the short clip of his letter at the end made me tear up, i was sobbing like a baby the first time i saw his death. and the second time. and the third.
i think my favorite movie is probably this one just bc of newt, but also bc teresa died and i hate her so i was pretty happy. i understand why ppl don't like the movie, but tbh that moment when newt goes "tommy... please..." is enough for me to rank the entire movie on top 1. i love newtmas so much im sorry
Dylan O’Brien (the actor for the main character) is in fact an ex-boy band member. He was in a band about 10 years ago.
He wasn’t in a boyband he was in an actual band which he played drums, he’s also now in a different band

fun but actually sad fact about the begging action scene , dylan had an accident when they were filming the scene for the first time , he got really hurt nearly killed him and because of that the movie took a while to be done , so thomas cheering when they made it was actually dylan proud that he pulled through the scene

I’ve never seen any of the Fast and the Furious films or films like it so I never saw that comparison.
My favorites in order are The Death Cure, The Scorch Trials, then The Maze Runner. This was a series I where I didn’t read the books I only watched the films. My sister read the books and said they’re really different.

i've watch this series so many times, but every time i get to newt's death and his letter i sob like i've never seen it before. literally the best character, should never of died 😭
So the movie was originally supposed to come out in 2017, but came out in 2018. There was an accident in that 1st scene where Thomas and Vince are trying to get on the train, so they had to pause filming for Dylan O’Brien (Thomas) to recover from his injuries. Which took about a year, including physical therapy. Newt wasn’t bit by a crank, he doesn’t have the immunity enzyme in his blood, so the airborne virus infected him. Even though the movie is a bit different from the book, the one thing that bothers me is Teresa & Thomas kissing at the end, cause in the book Thomas saw her as a friend at the end, nothing more!

I used to be such a huge fan of the books and the movies, and in the books there actually is no cure and it always bugs me that here they tried so hard to make thomas special when he wasn't. Also the Teresa and Thomas romance that they tried to force here was just too much lol but Newt and Minho totally saved the movie for me idk.

In the third movie they don’t look like teens anymore they look like there in there 23 while the ACUAL kids are like 13 14 or 15 like I get where there going why would they put actual teens as the characters and make the scenes more sadder with newt dying and Teresa dying with actual teen actors

There's a deleted scene from this movie at the part where Newt was showing Thomas he was infected, the deleted scene was of Newt telling Thomas about how he got his limp(which is never mentioned in the first movie but if you look closely at how he walks then you can see it) by jumping off the maze wall in a suicide attempt because of his depressed state but his leg got tangled in the ivy on the wall and snapped it in 3 different places and he landed on the floor where later Minho found him and carried him back to the Glade but they never told anyone what actually happened out there. Everyone says that the scene should have been kept in the movie because it tells how much trust he has with Thomas by telling him a secret only him and Minho know, and how deep Newt and Minho's friendship goes and how he saved him from ending his own life, so Newt want to save Minho too.
Thing that hit me was seeing Chucks name on the rock to know Thomas never forgot his best friend from the glade.
