- Don't miss this one! 2022 YB racing pigeons update and a close look at one of my favorite 2022 young birds! Also shown is how to treat racing pigeon feed that is infested with insects! Finally, we try our best to splint a severely broken wing on a rescued racing pigeon from another state.

Life is very busy. The young birds looks good. Nice update thank you for sharing. Good luck to your son. I hope he has a fantastic senior year.
Thanks for the well-wishes!! Super thoughtful of you!
@@RFRP you’re welcome
I was just talking to my dad about how to treat infested food ,and a few moments later your video pops up,thanks for the information
Ha!! That’s awesome!! Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the tip about freezing the weevils in the feed, great idea.
I raced old birds earlier this year for the 1st time, I had a hand full of late hatches that hadn't raced as YB, not only they didn't perform well, I ended up loosing them all during the races. So it's either because I was an inexperienced newbie or the birds were not prepared for the races even with good tossing. At the end of the day do what you think is best.
Best of luck to your son in his football season, that's the one to focus on for sure!
Thanks for sharing your insight! Interesting-That is essentially what I’ve heard from others as well. Not sure how I’ll be able to prepare them adequately but I’ll try my best and hope for the best. Appreciate your well-wishes for my son too 😁
Hopefully the young bird you rescued will be okay! Thanks for the update buddy! Good luck ! Again can’t wait to see the loft turn out!
Thanks my friend!!
You have fantastic looking birds 🕊️ awwwww poor bird so cool that you helped him. Good luck to your son.
Thank you, and thanks for the well-wishes to my son!! Super thoughtful of you!!
TY for the nice tip/idea on freezing the feed!
My pleasure! Glad you found it helpful!
Greetings from Flying with TOP!
Hello!! Great to hear from you!
I really hope that bird heals fully 🙏
Thank you! Me too 😢
Thank you for trying to save that poor bird .
My pleasure! Always worth a try, right?
The most important thing in life is getting that aviary finished! 🙂 If I found weevils in my new bag of feed I'd be changing feeds in a NY minute.. Need to get Beyers or Vanrobaey's feed if possible.. Those are two of the best feeds in the world for racing pigeons. Don't know if you can find it where you are in the 'Old Line State' though..
I would love to find a distributor of Beyers in the area! Also, I did work on the aviary a little today... Slowly but surely it's coming together. Hope to have a significant update next vid. Thanks!!
wow naman po idol ganda ng kalapati mupo
Thanks!
I had two late hatched birds yearlings that didn’t race during YB season and was race during OBR and won first place at 150 miles and also made 10% during second 200 miles race.
Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s good to know!
I'd love to chime in but never have. Nice birds btw. I'm sure they will be fine as long as they get air time, they'll find their way.
Thanks Al!! Your birds are looking good as well!!
I know nothing about putting corn in the freezer to kill insects BUT we wash all our corn and put it in the sunshine to dry before feeding it to the birds .
Oh that's interesting!! Cool
Great vids, yes that’s the way I also got rid of those insects from the feeds.
Oh nice!! Thanks for the kind feedback!
Great video. Nice idea of freezing the food. I got late hatches last year that I flew as old birds this year and they did good. Try to basket them, spend the night in the basket and do combine tosses with members of the club and that should work like races. Good luck
Great advice Angel! Thanks for sharing!!
I’d say young birds do need some experience and definitely road training. If there are any club or group training tosses that work into your schedule, you should definitely take advantage of those. Many have great experiences with late hatches flown as yearlings. Actually young birds can be pushed too hard and burned out. Some fanciers elect to limit to a few races as yb only for experience sake.
You’re a good man James. Go Knights!
You also crack me up with some of your commentary.
This is great advice and insight you are sharing here, John!! Thank you for that! Also thanks for your kind words regarding the videos 😁 and thoughtful well-wishes to my son 🥰 Appreciate your kindness!!
Good afternoon Robertson family loft watching from phillipines what nice morning 🌅 shine always subscribe 💯🇵🇭🙏🏼 God bless keep safe..nice Young birds is healthy.
Thanks Mark! Hope you are doing well! 🇵🇭
Hi James, D.K.s lofts Birmingham Rollers, I use 11 litre plastic buckets with lids with two-inch holes all around the sides cheaper than brought feeders.? and used milk bottles as drinkers and grit with a hole cut on the side .cheaper than brought ones, ?
That is a great suggestion! I love to hear about inexpensive and effective solutions like this. Nice job!
hoping to have a beautiful birds like you have.. im from philippines and i really love racing pegions.. but sadly i didn't win because i dont have a good foundation bird. just a bird that i like and also cheap one i have. have a nice day sir james and goodluck to your son😁
Thank you Arvin!! Really appreciate your kind words! I hope that you can get some additional birds to improve your stock 🤞🏻 Best wishes for a successful racing future!!
This Is Nice
Aww thanks!! Appreciate that!
If you are not racing the ybs give them plenty of 60 /80 km tosses and try train them out to 120 km for 2 or 3 tosses give them a good education .
Great advice! I'll do that!
Good looking pigeons, and good luck for your son, by the way I never race my pigeons, but this year I participated in OLR, I shipped 16 only 7 so far made it to activation race, good luck to everyone this year,
All the best James
Thanks for the well-wishes!! Very thoughtful of you! Which OLRs did you enter birds in and under what name? Good luck with the remaining 7!!
Thanks much, my birds are in Hoosier and applecup under Aziz loft, I can tell applecup doing great job this year, i really get surprised with their outstanding schedule and training management, I hope my pigeons perform well, it’s my first experience in racing.
All I do is mix two large tablespoons of diatomaceous earth and mix it in to the feed bag.
I use the same feed from the same vendor sometimes the seeds is so chewed up the feed is full of dust I just call them and they send me a new bags.
Hmmm, that’s a good thought about the diatomaceous earth; May have to try that. Yeah, in the past I’ve had chewy replace the feed when it’s come infested but so often the replacement is also infested. Still a great way to get quality food! Thanks for sharing!
@@RFRP just be sure is food grade , also good to keep worms away from the birds gut .
Would like to hear what people have to say about birds being flown in OB that were not flown in YB. I would like they are at a huge disadvantage but I could be wrong. Getting ready to head to the club and ship a 200 mile. Hoping I end up with a few good birds after this season to fly in old birds but we will see. Good luck to your son and his team, kids definitely come first.
Thanks Paul! I too think they would be at a big disadvantage as well. Good luck on your 200 mile race!! Let us know how they do.
I also order from Chewy and have weevils sometimes if it was shipped from Arizona.
Oh interesting. I'll have to try and see where these were shipped from. Thanks for the heads up!!
@@RFRP I checked the bag and the Lot number is the same 😆
Oh my!! Too funny!
Also brother look at the winners of South Africa one pigeon loft most of them are hens and smaller birds
Yep! I agree!
Birds flown as YBs has a definite edge over birds that weren't raced. I'm not sure if it's the shipping or if it's learning to break (I hypothesize the latter) and learning to think (anthropomorphism noted) about navigation.
I suspect you're right about the learning to break and navigate. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts--thanks!!
Still hoping to read the article you mentioned.
send me an email, Bob. erotylid@gmail.com
As long as the young birds have been trained to 100milrs had no problems flying old birds but they have to be trained
This seems to be the consensus. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!!
Hi Sir, this is Nadeem from INDIA.🇮🇳
I am your subscriber and watch your every videos. Thanks for sharing, information and tips about birds.
Sir, please do help me out with the complete process of deworming the birds. Thank you again Sir.
Hi Nadeem!! Great to hear from you and thanks for your support!! There are multiple products for deworming including pills to give one bird at a time, ivermectin drops that you drop on their skin on their neck, or medicine that you mix in their drinking water. I like to use ivermectin drops because it treats internal and external parasites. Find one of these types of medicines online and follow the instructions. I will try to do a video showing the drops I use. Good luck! 🇮🇳
@@RFRP Thank for your valuable reply Sir.
Just a thought is there any fancier that passes your house onto the way to the club . Would you consider putting the birds in the crate and another fancier picking up the birds and putting them through marking for you . I am all for being a family man with pigeons not a pigeon man with a family the family comes first but maybe you can try to find a solution so you can watch the games and still race the pigeons .
That is a really good suggestion, my friend. I'll have to see if I can make that work. Really appreciate your comments, well-wishes and insights!
Salam nice piogen
Thank you 🙏🏼

🙏🏼 Racing medicine?
I love pigeons but also love football keep us informed how you son is doing .
Will do! Super thoughtful of you Doug!!
I’m planing to enter one pigeon loft race ,what pigeon loft race you think is better? And good luck to you also my advise to you brother try to send smaller birds birds who can fly between 250 miles and 350 miles also hands are better birds than cocks
I also prefer hens over cocks in OLRs. Check out my video from several months ago on how I pick OLRs to enter. ruclips.net/video/22yOsGlvvzY/видео.html
I’m sorry typo erro hens are better than cocks in one pigeon loft good luck brother my birds most of them from mike ganus family great grand children’s
Sounds like you have some great birds!!
I'm sure its hard to take care of the weevil infestation but I hate that chewy still dealing with that problem for a long while now.
BTW what system do you plan to fly your old birds?
You would think that after replacing so many customer's feed over and over again Chewy would work out a solution. I too am surprised we are still dealing with this.
Not sure which system I'm going to try for OBs. Maybe a double widowhood?? What do you fly?
@@RFRP haha unfortunately I never flown old birds so i wouldn't know. Just find the many old bird systems interesting.
Super! Wehre are you from my ?
I am located in Maryland 😁
🙋🇵🇭✌️👍
Thanks Jermine!! 🇵🇭♥️
I'm sorry but I just have a really bad experience with flying old bird with zero experience. 9 out of 10 time you end up losing them within the first few races. Sure, there are exceptions but not much. It is possible that they do wel the first few races but as soon as they have to face bad weather or just have a hard flight those birds are the first to get lost
Thanks for sharing your experience! One of my childhood mentors has had the same general experience as you described. Fingers crossed!!
What does eye trachoma mean?
I do not know much about it other than It is a bacterial infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. It can lead to blindness.
@@RFRP I sent a request on my Instagram account
i_26z
How many pigeons you have in total?
Around 50-60. How about you?
@@RFRP I only have 4 pairs breeding ND currently 15 young birds flying 🤝
That’s exactly where I was just a few years ago ! Good luck!!
Ybs not traiñed or race no good as old birds
That has been my experience as well.
