thats easy for commenters to say! we didnt pay a penny, its easy to say he was worth it.These people said they didnt have the money ,really! These people are amazing, they should have done a crowd fund etc..Im sure they'd have got 30k no problem.
Yea, ok i am not a dog owner but i know the pain wen you need to say good bay from pet, it realy f*ckin hurts even yers pats by it still dos, for some pets are a lot more then animals
I'm Sobbing aswell...... We Love You Sherman And thanks to this Good man and Woman at Least at the very last stage of his life he FELT RECIEVED GAVE AND KNEW LOVE .. 💝
Right? Warning or a "Tissue Alert" is mandatory for these! I'm dealing with an adopted rescue that she just does not believe that she will no longer be on the street. We've had her since January 2016, but that bit of her history we cannot seem to make disappear in her mind. We adopted a puppy a couple days after we got her since she was So Lonely & missing for her 6 puppies that had been found with her on the street. Puppies all got adopted, but we wanted & needed her (Merry). Now she has a perpetual puppy with our Jack Russell mix (Pippin) that she mothers, plays with & fusses at.
I had my own Sherman. His name was goose. Great big gray and white pit. He had been a bait dog because he wouldn’t fight. Then some people got him and acted like they saved him but they beat him and threw him down basement stairs. By the time we got him he would barely bark. But he was 125 lbs of love. With a 27 inch head. After we had him for about 5 years goose had a seizure. He passed with us all around him. Hugging him. Telling him we loved him. I miss him.
I am crying too!! I adopted a little female Pittie that looks a lot like Sherman....right down to the little nubby, badly cut ears. "Brie" (Bree) wasn't even a year old and was scheduled for euthanasia...I couldn't imagine not adopting her. She had scars all over her stomach, chest and inside of her thighs...a bait dog...smart enough to climb a fence to get away from her abusers. She was found wandering the streets...picked up by animal control and sent to a rescue group. She just turned 2 and is the sweetest dog...loves my cats, my 2 Chihuahuas; and at just 40lbs, she loves sparring with my 110lb Anatolian Shepherd who never had a good playmate until Brie came along. Brie also loves my chickens and goats...now, if she gets the chance she'll climb the backyard fence to visit the goats...but I keep an eye on her just because there's always a chance she'll head the other direction, down the drive and somehow escape my little farm. I cried watching this video, because I've seen Brie cower and roll on her back for even a minor reprimand, so I try to overlook her mistakes. I let her know all the time that I love her and think she's so smart and amazing, even after chewing her new bed into a thousand pieces. I don't think I'll ever understand how some 'humans' can subject such innocent animals to terrible cruelty, leading to so much pain, suffering, and too often, death. Sherman and Brie, and so many others just want to be loved. I can't imagine how painful it's been to lose Sherman...very heartbreaking. I'm glad the end of his life was full of love and protection!
Wow....the emotion in this man's voice really hit me hard. Thank GOD Sherman found his way to your family and vice versa. He's at peace and you'll be reunited at the Rainbow Bridge.
@@BronteBlu2 Thank you! You are an earth angel! Please remember that Brie’s destructive ways probably comes from abuse and frustration...She probably doesn’t know how to act towards love and patience, very new to her...thank you for your patience with her..she desperately needs you! I love your little farm and always wanted one! God bless you for your understanding and love....Also, some dogs have brain damage from being hit by the evil abusers! Please keep up your tender love and care, but, most of all, patience...💜❤️💜💔💔💔😥😥😥 God bless you and your family always 🙏🏻💜
You can HEAR how much the guy loved Sherman in the pain in his voice as he spoke about the end. Sherman got a beautiful end of his life. He was thoroughly cared for and loved more than he'd ever felt in his life before. God bless this person, their kind heart, and the dedication they had for Sherman...who totally deserved every bit of love they gave and more.

I am crying so hard I started crying when he said, "His world became pitch black, and he was so scared. " Broke me, and I kept crying harder and harder as the video finished I have had dogs pass away, and even though I have a hard time showing emotion of how much I miss them, and knowing one day one of the best, and favorite dog that I grew up with, which is a pitbull, will pass away some day and I'll never see him again I'm sorry for your loss I hope you're doing okay
These people did a great thing for Sherman, it almost makes me wish I had a dog of my own. Honestly I’d have given up one of my kidneys to save this dog. He’s just such a sweet heart
I have huge respect for men with a physical stature like yours who are willing to be emotionally vulnerable. Helps break down a lot of stereotypes and I love to see that shit. Again, huge respect 🙌💯
Only 6'2" and 230, but my face is just as wet... brought me right back to when we had to put down our sweet girl, "Havana", after 15 years. I just wish everyone could Love each other, the way we Love these dogs.
Me too 😂😂!! What a beautiful tribute!! I've cried like a baby every time one of my foster fails leave me forever and cross over the rainbow 🌈 BRIDGE 😢.
I know this has been 2 years ago, but this is my first time seeing this and I just had to comment. Talking about crying like a baby…I am a mess right now. Sherman..what a wonderful dog that had such an awful beginning of life (so not fair). Then this couple that had to be angels, gave him so much love at the end of his life. I have to say, Sherman’s daddy is one beautiful, caring man. If only others saw and treated animals the way he did Sherman. OMG, what a wonderful world we would be living. God bless this family and RIP sweet Sherman, no more pain. ❤❤❤
Hearing this man brake down talking about his beautiful and precious dog broke my heart. I’m crying my eyes out. I cry because Sherman is gone but also my tears are out gratitude because he had a warm home and an incredibly loving family at the end of his horrible life. How many Shermans are out there and will never be loved like this sweet dog? Please be kind to animals and report animal abuse if you see it. 💔
Just hearing him narrate the video, with his voice breaking and trembling, synced perfectly with Sherman’s goofy video, has me balling my eyes out as I write this. You’re a beautiful human being. And I’m sure Sherman knew he was incredibly loved.
Yeah, this hit me hard. I haven't cried like that since my dog passed two years ago. He died in my arms in the front yard while I told him, "It's okay. It's okay". I used to tell him that if he was worried he was in trouble or some noise scared him. I'm a bigger guy, and a former police officer and veteran, but two kind neighbors came out to comfort me as I held him and cried in front of the house. Seeing this video brought that back but I'm thankful for it. He and Sherman are worth the tears.

holy crap. I thought this was going to be a nice short story of a caring adoption. I did not expect to be sat here streaming with tears. I'm a grown ass man and it's not even my dog... If you happen to check the comments here, you sound like a great guy and Sherman got lucky in the end.
You unselfishly gave a stinky, big-headed creature that probably would've died alone and scared, an absolutely beautiful remainder to his life. He knew love. He knew warmth. He knew kindness, and he had a family that he knew cared him. Rest in peace, Sherman. 🕊
Thank you for your words. Had to let my dog go last week after two years with us. She was old, we had 1 great year and 1 not so great year. But I am adopting an older dog again and going to the process again. Hoping for 1, 2 maybe 3 great years.

I find it heart warming. Don’t focus on the tears, listen harder. You’ll find that the pain is only the outward expression of immeasurable love. So many will never know how much it means to have someone promise you that you’ll not be hurt again. Which is wonderful. Both hearing the promise and that there are so many that will never know the significance of it.
I’m a Marine Nam Vet and this video brought me to tears. Your family’s devotion to Sherman, was the best thing to ever happen to him. Thank you for giving him the best time of his life. 👍👍
@@cryp0g00n4 Dogs were bred to love men, it isn't natural. They are the result of the ideal of love which most men possess for friends and family. A love which is unconditional, warm, sincere, and self sacrificing. The dog is the embodiment of the love in the hearts of most men. Men shaped the dog in the image of our own hearts. They're man's best friend because we made them to be. Because so few people are really worthy of our friendship, we needed to create something which was. The world is not a nice place. It shaped men for hunting and war. Our species would not exist if men loved as dogs love. You can only afford unconditional love when all of your needs are provided for. Besides, women never choose or never stay with nice men. When given the choice, they'll pick the violent criminal over the nice guy -- all other traits being equal. Our species would've ended long ago if they didn't. Either that, or we'd still be climbing in trees. That's the way of human sexual selection and it always has been. It's because of war and female hypergamy that we evolved. Without those evolutionary pressures, the brain would never have expanded and we wouldn't be here asking about "unconditional love" -- we wouldn't have the brain to arrive at the concept. There's no unconditional love among unrelated humans because there can't be. There would be no humans at all if there were no selection pressure in evolution to drive the necessity of intelligence in our species. Nature doesn't gift a species out of kindness. She gifts it by killing off the maladaptive genes of our kind -- one way or another. Only the most adaptive survive. That's the price of every trait which is possessed by every animal. This universe is a universe of scarcity. No matter the resource, it will be scarce in some environments or all of them. Humans evolved to cope with that scarcity by competition -- in which all animals engage. No animal in nature possesses unconditional love. Even with pairs of lifetime pair-bonded species we find they've been stepping out on each other -- DNA tests confirmed. Unconditional love is the romantic fiction invented by humans during times when humans believe there's no scarcity -- though there is always scarcity, it's just that sometimes you become isolated from scarcity over space and/or time. The short answer though, is there isn't unconditional love because there can't be. It can't naturally occur in this universe. You can create it, but it doesn't arise spontaneously, it has to be bred and then conditioned in dogs.

@@queenjenna2696 The cable TV channel NatGeo Wild broadcast a show in Fall 2019 called “Dog Impossible,” starring this dog trainer/behavioral expert named Matt Beisner. He specialized in the “rehabilitation” of dogs that had been labeled as aggressive (often via neighbor complaints, but sometimes just because of willful ignorance & plain spite!), and in many/most of the cases shown, they had attacked and/or bitten people (usually their owners first!) and/or other pets. Almost every show, as Matt was agreeing to help a new dog and set of owners, he would state: “There is no such thing as a ‘bad dog’, only a dog that’s been trained & rewarded for fighting (often for years), or one who is acting out of extreme fear & anxiety, usually due to being beaten & severely mistreated.” I ultimately would understand 2 messages from watching his extremely loving & patient methods to (successfully, of course, since it *is* a TV show) rehab the dogs, many of them pit bulls (pure-bred or mixed): #1) dogs, like dysfunctional and delinquent people, only get to be labeled “impossible” when they’ve been forced/made that way by their human overlords; and #2) the corollary that there may not truly be “bad people,” only those forced early on to be, or eventually made into, violent criminals and/or degenerates. It was good food4thought, and I missed that show over the year of COVID (March 2020-2021).

Sherman was lucky to have such parents? The perfect parents in the end took away his life just because poor child Sherman got old and blind with some disease? If you love such parents who can't keep you in this life as you become blind and old with diseases i hope and pray to God that you should definitely be blessed with such parents like that who can't afford you if you become blind and old with diseases just like they couldn't afford Sherman to live his life and the couple took away poor child Sherman's life as poor child Sherman became blind and old with diseases. Poor child Sherman's soul must be crying because the couple took away his life just because poor child Sherman got old and sick. That got me bawling like a baby. I'm so grateful to be reminded that there are men in the world who are loving and protectors of the vulnerable and voiceless. Thank you❤

“I think he thought this was the start of a beating so I stopped and kneeled down and loved him so hard” I’ve had two rescues in my life both had a fair amount of neglect so I know that feeling when you see them with glimpses of fear from their previous life. Good people do exist thanks for sharing your heart touching story.
The stray pit I found in the Bronx would react to an angry voice. She'd cower and raise her butt to be kicked and submission peed. She taught me to control my temper. She was the most loving girl ever. She left me Jan 2016 at age 17+.
I'm about a year into life with an often frustrating rescue. He's the latest of a long line of many that I've had the privilege of having. I thought this guy would be easier, but it hasn't worked out that way. Every time now that I become exasperated, I stop and listen to Sherman's story again. It reminds me of why I do it: The love you give, and the love you get in return 💖 God Bless You, Dear Sherman 🌈, and Sherman's Mom and Dad, too ❤❤

For some of us, who have never known love, having a creature that loves to wake up to see your face, is the only warmth we have in this world. That's why we cry over them like they are our children, because they are. They are our light in this world, our love and sometimes the only reason why we wake up in the morning. I have a two year old pitbull I adopted. I know she'll have a long, loving and healthy life with me, but I cry, just about every time I think about that in fifteen, twenty years I'd have to let her go and my heart breaks into a million tiny pieces. Sometimes I wish that if she has to go, that I go with her because I don't know how to breathe without my beautiful girl. When you finally know love, true, unconditional, non-judgemental love, love you don't have to earn, losing that is so hard.

My Grammy girl spent years in a no kill shelter because no one wanted a senior pit bull mix with cropped ears. When I saw her in the shelter my heart could not stop thinking about her. So I agreed to foster her and quickly failed at fostering. She was my best friend for 3 years. That old dog turned into a puppy overnight. She had such a zest for life and loved living out in the country where she could run. I knew she had been abused, I was having an angry phone call and saw her huddling in a corner where she had urinated in fear. I ended the call, cleaned the mess, and did everything to not raise my voice or make sudden movements around her. I miss her every day but I know she died knowing love and I have faith I will get those sloppy kisses again one day.
omg this is the most beautiful tribute. "Sherman was no dog. He was a fantastic beast that enchanted everyone he met." Medium And Large Dogs The larger the dog, the shorter the life span -- so it makes sense that middle age comes sooner for large breeds. Healthy bulldogs live about 10 to 12 years, according to WebMD. Based on that, they're considered middle-aged by the time they reach 5 or 6 years. The Irish wolfhound has one of the shortest life expectancy of any breed: between six and eight years -- a specimen could be middle-aged at the age of 3.”.
I had a rottie that I was extremely close to. I adopted him at age 2 and spent every day with him, If I went out of town I drove so he could come with me. A few years after having him I was told by my vet that the average age for rotties was 10. So it kind of crept into my head and once he got to 8, I started worrying about it all the time. Couldn't imagine him not being with me....so he gets to 10 and one day it just hits me... he's doing everything he can to stay healthy and keep living life to the fullest. What right did I have to keep thinking about him passing away? And just like that, I stopped thinking about it. He made it to 13.5 so if I hadn't snapped out if it, I would have spent his last 5.5 years worrying about him passing instead of just enjoying the time we had together...I hope you are able to do the same! : )
It’s good to know what your dog’s “life expectancy” is because then you can tailor both their diet and exercise as they age. In particular senior dogs have different nutritional requirements from adults, and adults from puppies.
I’ve seen this 3 times on 3 separate occasions and every time I get to the end I have tears running down my face. I’m so glad they kept their promise to him
The promise of "you will never be hurt again" runs deep with me and my dogs story. He's 16 years old. I got him at 8. Pretty neglected and abused with very similar problems. It's huge when you see that turning point from fear into whole hearted trust. Dogs that get a second chance at life are some of the most grateful creatures in the world. He's pulled me out of so much truama just by being himself. Love this story. Thank you for including his final slumber as my dogs time is coming up and it's been so hard to accept that I've got to stick to my promise to him and be there for his very last moment as I promised him he'd never be alone again.
Anyone who's been blessed to love a doggo knows this man's pain. Higgins was our family's dog for 15 years. He loved all five of us. He somehow always knew who needed him most. He shared teen age study binges and heartbreak. He encouraged me to walk further everyday after spinal surgery. He lived in my mom's room when she got sick. When Higgins died, it felt wrong to replace him. It was two years before Lucy joined us. Our home is very different now. The kids are grown, my mom has passed. Lucy and I are constant companions. I tell her about Higgins and why he was so great.
Thanks for your comments. Higgins was absolutely the most empathetic dog I’ve known. Lucy seems to be the smartest. My husband travels for work a lot, so Lucy and I are often on our own. I spend time training her that I couldn’t with Higgins. Lucy is a Shepherd mix, so she’s smart as a whip. This dog isn’t a year old yet and she knows every command I can think of! Last week I saw a hula hoop and decided to buy it for her. This crazy dog jumped right through it the first time I held it out. She saw the treat, knew what I wanted and delivered. She’s even got my old crippled butt walking twice a day. Playing fetch is the only thing saving me! I wish everyone could experience the wonderful dogs I’ve known. God bless you.
@susan. Rest in peace Higgins. I also had my rottweiler Shepard mix, Daisy, for 15 years. We so loved each other. She died peacefully 13 years ago. I have her ashes. They are to be mixed with my own when I pass, and released on top of My Kathadin in northern Maine. It is the end of the Appalachian trail. Higgins will be waiting at the end of your trail, Susan. Never forget that. 🙂🦮
Oh my gosh, tears rolling down my face as I hug my rescue pitty that had been abused. The ability for pittys to to show so much love even after being abused is a testament to their resilience. Thank you for sharing your story.
The pain in his voice reminded me of the day I had to take my boy to the vet for the last time, my boy was literally a dog version of me attitude wise it felt and still feels like I lost a part of myself. We think they rely on us when I feel like we rely on them so much more.
Oh, this made me tear up so much. What an incredible dog and what incredible humans you are. You made his life so special and he gave that back to you. It's heart-breaking when we lose a beautiful animal who means so much to us, but we can be so grateful that we could share our lives and our love with them. Especially the ones who need it most.
Rest in peace dear Sherman. I'm so sorry for what ever you endured before they came along, but you were so loved and cared for toward the end of your life.
Because of his ears and size, I wonder if someone (arse) tried to use him as a dog fighter, but he was too sweet. Would account for his fears. I'm glad he was a "fighter fail" he deserved a good life, and got it.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 😂. You guys trip me out . That type of dog is not even a fighting dog. Just because a dog or dogs ear are clipped doesn’t make it a fighting dogs. I can show you real pit bulls (Apbt) that were all fighting dogs and 90% to 95% had their ears
@@rawjan39 I said "I wonder". Also, it's pretty common these days to know it's best NOT to trim their ears that way, not a humane practice, so maybe the previous owners didn't have the best concerns for their dog. I am not "you guys", and I adore dogs, want to give all bully dogs a fair chance and APBT's are not the only dogs fought. Ok, you have knowledge, but don't have to try and shame people or be rude.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 I didn’t say the Apbt is only dog that fought. That breed (Am bully) is not fighting dog . Ear cropping and tail docking was just something people want. How many Rottweiler do you see with long tail vs the ones that are docked? It upset when people see dogs rather it’s a Apbt, Am Staff, Am bully or whatever with cropped ears . They automatically think dogfighting. That’s why I stated 95% of the Apbt (the Real Pit Bull) had their ears and were fighting dogs. Ear cropping has nothing to do with dogfighting. It’s a look just like on Doberman and Great Dane.

Why was there no warning I'm dying crying right now

I had my own Sherman. His name was goose. Great big gray and white pit. He had been a bait dog because he wouldn’t fight. Then some people got him and acted like they saved him but they beat him and threw him down basement stairs. By the time we got him he would barely bark. But he was 125 lbs of love. With a 27 inch head. After we had him for about 5 years goose had a seizure. He passed with us all around him. Hugging him. Telling him we loved him. I miss him.
I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔🫂

oh, man, you made me cry.....Sherman was an angel in disguise, he's now in Heaven
Well said and I agree completely.
Crying right now
I am crying too!!

If humans loved unconditionally like Sherman, what a wonderful world it would be.
Then why don't we
@@cryp0g00n4 Because we are not dogs.
DOG backwards is GOD.
@@mwillblade a mom loves unconditionally so your strawman just went up in flames

I know and especially hard rn bc I recently lost my (Heath) Jack Russell he was about to be 16 yrs old and out of no way had a bad seizure and couldn't come out of it and of course I refuse to let him suffer, every time I had a bad panic attack and anxiety he wouldn't leave me side well, he hardly ever left however he was taking care of me like we always did.
Hit me hard too.
I didn't really expect the sad ending, but grateful for the couple who gave him a good life.
What a blessing you loved him so much. Beautiful dog, beautiful family.
So am I ,it's these wonderful people who have this connection to doggies and other animals that keeps me going tbh
I'm a domestic violence survivor and I think Sherman was, too. When his dad said that when he met Sherman he knew he desperately wanted to be loved and that he couldn't leave him there. That got me bawling like a baby. I'm so grateful to be reminded that there are men in the world who are loving and protectors of the vulnerable and voiceless. Thank you❤

Didn't know a RUclips video was supposed to be able to make me cry. But even crying felt too less. Just privileged to see and listen to such care and love existing in this world.
The pain in this man's voice is really sad to hear.
That much pain can only come from genuine love, they had a great and unforgettable time together, he'll have the good memories to keep his heart warm.
My heart breaks for Sherman and his Human parents that love him so unconditionally 💔

That dog is lucky that his owners had the money.
I'm about a year into life with an often frustrating rescue. He's the latest of a long line of many that I've had the privilege of having. I thought this guy would be easier, but it hasn't worked out that way.
Every time now that I become exasperated, I stop and listen to Sherman's story again.
It reminds me of why I do it:
The love you give, and the love you get in return 💖
God Bless You, Dear Sherman 🌈, and Sherman's Mom and Dad, too ❤❤
We need updates on this! I have a special needs rescue that took 2 years. never agressive, eventhough she has been beaten and chased away on the streets of romania. First 2 years i learned a lot about her, and now ive had her for 5 years, she is a different dog. still scared of many things, but im exposing her on her own terms and time. All she really wants to do is lay on everything soft and enjoy the sun

Yeah, my son got a dog and she transformed the whole family. Now I have my own dog.
If you ever get a pet and build a strong bond, you'll dread the day you'll have to give them up...

“Small Dogs
Small dogs tend to live longer than larger breeds. The Chihuahua has a life expectancy of 15 years or more, so middle age doesn't hit until year eight or so. Toy poodles and miniature dachshunds live an average of 12 to 15 years, so middle age comes around when they're about 6 or 7 years of age.
Medium And Large Dogs
The larger the dog, the shorter the life span -- so it makes sense that middle age comes sooner for large breeds.
How did you come up with the name "Ursula"?
