It's the same fix for when the it won't stay closed, it's the same part of the wiring loom (the brown power wire), best fix is as you've done, a little knowledge goes a long way, even more when it won't stay shut, it's raining, at night and your lacking the head knowledge of this fault/fix at the time it happens to be able to deal with it as the easy fix it turns out to be, saves the comical flap mode (in reflection) and improvisation to weigh it down shut at night in the rain as I found out. Good to know it's the same fix if I can't get into it. Thanks for the head knowledge,
This diagnosis was perfect for my E60 however, it took longer for me because the wire that was broken (Gray) was very close to the trunk hinge and made it difficult to work with, and I had to be very cautious because I didn’t have much wired to play with for splicing or soldering. I had other wires where the insulation was cut, but the copper wire itself was intact. I hot glued around those and used electrical tape to access in order to minimize bending for future opening and closings of the trunk. Keeping my fingers crossed my effort works for a good while.
Thanks so much. Same problem on my E39 - just barely broken wires. I found that with the trunk open you could squeeze the wire bundle and still actuate the trunk latch.
My wife’s MK IV Ford Focus has the same issue. Broken wire in the trunk so the car constantly thought the trunk was open. Crimped the broken wire and wrapped the harness in plastic loom and electrical tape. Held up ever since!
HI NATHAN...I have a 2002 bmw 745li and the hood will not open... I feel tension in the latch when I pull it but it wont open at all I have tried everything I can think of... don't really want to take it to the Stealership... just don't have that kind of money.. do you have any advice on how to open the hood on this thing... ? thanks for your time
What we use to do was a plastic straw slit it fill with silicone slip it on the wire let it set up and tape it. But in that area I think it won't flex enough
Good luck. I never could get mine open even with various help suggestions. I broke the latch to open it and replaced the latch. I actually bought a used glove box door with a good latch because I found it less expensive than buying a new lock.
@@xCaliSwagYT Slide (remove) the physical key out of your key fob, and open the trunk manually but turning the key counter-clockwise until the trunk lock unlocks

Bro thanks for the video but how do you open the trunk though?
Exactly what I needed! Thank you! ❤

You just fixed my problem. Thanks!

Great fix Nathan having that similar issue right now
Is there a fuse I should check first?
Same issue 2007 525i I would tine them flex PVC, heat shrink wrap each spice. No electrical tape just last a year and the factory should have used PVC
E39 525i not using car fan shroud any suggestions. mount expansion tank and the radiator

Do I need to turn of the battery on the car

Where did you get your ICOM A2+B+C?
Have you used a crimp with low melt solder in it? Works really good.
I was looking at them but I bought the other style off amazon last night , the king with heat shrink covers but not the solder
@@NathansBMWWorkshop the heat shrink type works well also. Great E60 update.
Yup just pulled mine apart. Same problem
Question: i have a 2002 E46 with the glove box stuck closed. Suggestions on how to get it opened?

@@beyondrepair8949 guess I'll have to buy a whole new/used glove box then.
On some models ive been told theres a switch in centre console that locks the glove box and boot. I could be wrong but check this
At least you haven't found that emergency bag of crack I hid somewhere in the body for a rainy day.
Thanks great video!
Hi, i drive a BMW GT 535i 2011 and am finding it difficult to open the full trunk
Everrytime my car starts it opens and you can hear the motor keeps running
Put a twist in the harness?
Solder my friend with Tesa fabric tape
Hey Nathan have you ever done a video on cleaning the intake valves on the m54 engine
exactly what was wrong with mine...such junk wiring
This happens on all E60. I had this done and they added more wire and shrieked wrapped.
Mine won’t open at all!
Same what did you do ?
How too open
