I'm glad I didn't find your video until after I repaired my latch. That open latch is very intimidating. If looking for help, watch several videos before discouragement sets in. There are several issues that can occur with latches. I was in a hurry, I didn't clear my gym bag. My gym bag had a metal lock in it and when I closed my trunk the metal lock knocked my latch out of alignment with the strike plate (not sure if this is the correct term). The trunk would not lock. If it is an alignment issue, make sure you center both the latch and strike plate( do not make adjustment to the latch and strike plate at the same time). Get out your ruler to measure, it helps with centering. One video suggested looking for old outlines of where it was previously screwed ( adjust back to original location). Thanks for your video chriselectroman. its very advanced. I am so glad I didn't need your help this time. I'll be back if I do.
crystcraw apologies for the late reply but do you mean it won't latch or did you mean it won't lock as it you can close it and it latches but won't lock on the key press with the central locking?
Oh! The Crappy Little Motors that BMW uses in many parts of the car, and Fail! steering lock: Fails, door latches: Fail ! I have 2006 e90 steering IS locked, driver door lock and trunk latch/lock doesn't work. 108k miles and falling apart! P.O.S.

Hey Chris thanks for the video. So you were able to purchase and replace the motor alone? Where did you buy the motor?
