3:51 Just correcting something: I believe its an really good scene because It shows How much Sonic deals with Abandonment problems. He is projecting at Tom, cuz he was forced to abandon his homeworld and beloved step mother, and is on an entire roadtrip with the closest thing he got for a friend (Tom) Just so he Can abandon another reality forever He lashes out because of The prospect that Tom has the chance to choose to not abandon his home; Meanwhile, Sonic doesnt have that chance
I see. I do agree that was probably the underlying thing they were going for when writing that scene. I just think in execution it came out a way I personally wasn't jelling with.
@donathan2933 I could approach this from two different ways: 1. In an alternative rewrite were Tom is initially more arrogant throughout the first half of the movie. Maybe he only took the job of a cop because he thought it was easy and could just breeze by. And therefore considers the townspeoples problems to be nuisances and therefore he doesn't care for them. Making Sonic's line saying the people of Green Hills needs him a lot more impact full. 2. Tom is more aloof and just drifting through life not knowing what he wants to do with himself. So he applies for the San Francisco job not really caring about what he'll need to do but to him its just something. You can also say due to this nature of him being a drifter and always focusing on what's next he doesn't realize that Green Hills is where he actually belongs. This makes Sonic's protest to Tom leaving imo have a lot more oomf as in this version of the story as Tom isn't really considering what he's leaving behind and is just going to the new job just cause. I think me saying its the worst scene was very much hyperbole and while the scene still doesn't sit well with me it overall wasn't a deal breaker I could easily ignore it over the film's other attributes.
Imo, the Sonic movie franchise is an example of "mistakes aren't always bad, and sometimes there's good mistakes" (that was the most memorable moment in Transformers 4 by Mark Walberg's character). Not just with the initial design of Sonic with it later being changed, but with the various other issues these movies which were already stated by you. And yet, there's a lot to like, I enjoyed them, and I'm glad they exist in the world. Even if the story doesn't necessarily hold up, the characterization (and world building) are what matters to me the most. Honestly, Sonic 3 is probably one of 3 (Spiderman: NWH, Puss & Boots: TLW, MAYBE Deadpool & Wolverine) movies I watched where I came into the theaters with high expectations and have said expectations blown away. Seriously, nothing could prepare me for the action in that movie.
The reason why Sonic and Eggman are only characters to appear in the first movie is because like the original 1991 game. We're introduced to those two with their first encounter and there are people who have watched the movie's have never heard of/never played the games.
Movie Knuckles doesn’t understand anything on Earth. Everything is new to him. Which is why it seems like he talks weirdly at the end of the second movie. Because he doesn’t know any Earth customs (sports, certain types of foods, etc)
He’s like a combo of Starfire and Drax. Not stupid, being very insightful and figuring out things quickly, but are also highly naive/innocent and takes things literally. Movie Knux was taught to be a warrior, lived as a warrior, and warrior logic is all he knows; so everything he says or does has to do with warrior stuff.
I said this on Channel Pup's Sonic 2 video so here's the short version: Sonic grew up isolated while admiring Earth through comics and movies. He's going to reference everything under the sun because of that. And Longclaw's final words were to stay away from others and never stop running so....yeah.
honestly, the sonic movies kind of remind me of the way the genesis games are viewed, with the first one being okay but being WAY overshadowed by the sequels.
You know, surprisingly, the message brought by the movie was really great! If you understand the trilogy more, you'll notice that most of the characters like sonic, knuckles, and shadow, they deal with the 5 stages of grief. Sonic having the loss of Longclaw and almost losing Tom. Knuckles having the loss of his great father, and Shadow for having the loss of Maria.
as an arcane fan who played the games and watched the tv show, i can confirm the source material is garbage.. i'm not joking it's not good, its enjoyable but yeah😭I also watched the second season of arcane and to be brutally honest it was a let down from the first season, so i'll give the show slightly the same level as the sonic series, tho after watching the sonic movie 3 for the second time I feel like sonic as a video game adaption does it way better in my opinion.
30:02 - Considering Knuckles had his own spinoff show right before the movie, I think putting him on the back burner (even literally during one part) was a smart move. Tails should've been given a little more attention, like maybe a small, heartfelt discussion with another character for a brief moment, but I do understand the reason they didn't.
5:26 I know a RUclipsr who did review this movie but the way he rips this movie was an equivalent of him shredding the Sonic Movie with a chainsaw, cuz he expects this movie to be a masterpiece (like he usually does).
To be fair about the whole Tom and Maddie thing, it's refreshing to have the main humans be adults instead of annoying kids. Even when I was a kid I hated the kid characters in cartoons, like I wanted to be Batman not Robin, ya know? So even if they are the token humans I am okay with it.
I think I’m more on the side of: I wanna see more Sonic characters but I don’t mind the humans opposed too: I want more Sonic charecters but ewwwww trashy humans-from a human But Tom and Maddie seem like good characters I don’t mind wade in the knuckles shadow but I do not like Wanda whipple commander Walters was cool director Rockwell was mid Rachel and Randall are mid No idid not rage at the wedding scene and cryed about it
That was definitely a complaint I had with “Sonic X”. Most of the human kids in that series were not only unnecessary, but also not all that interesting or entertaining. The only one that was tolerable was Helen, to the point where everyone wishes she was the human protagonist rather than Chris.
I can kinda understand your sentiments on the first film being set on Earth as opposed to the more fantastical setting that the franchise is associated with. But to be fair, I think the movie series kinda needed to start out on a more mundane scale. Like you mentioned with the 3rd film scaling back SA2’s more extreme elements for the sake of adapting the story, I think the same could be said for the first film, since the idea of a talking, blue hedgehog with superspeed might not be that easy for general audiences to buy into. They needed to be eased into the colorful characters and otherworldly elements, as opposed to being thrown headlong into it. Much in a similar way, while Tom Wichowski may be more basic and straight compared to the more colorful characters, I feel he provides just enough contract to Sonic’s energetic portrayal to make him an entertaining and essential character. To draw a similar comparison, I recall reading that the two Muppet movies released in the ‘90s “Muppet Christmas Carol” and “Muppet Treasure Island” drew similar criticisms from certain fans and critics - with some finding the focus on human characters playing the main leads while the Muppets played mostly supporting/side characters to be distracting and others calling the films a bit “boring” as a result. Now all these years later, people tend to have a different reaction towards the films, feeling that the human characters provided an element to the Muppet adaptations that casting ordinary Muppets in the roles just couldn’t properly convey. Micheal Cain’s performance as Scrooge gives the movie its needed earnestness to convey the original story’s themes and message. I can’t imagine any of the familiar Muppets playing Scrooge or Jim Hawkins. Long John Silver? Maybe… but why would you want to turn down Tim Curry? In a similar way, while not quite to that same level, I feel having a more grounded character like Tom be sorta the anchor to Sonic’s shenanigans provides an element to the films that casting any other Mobian character in wouldn’t really feel the same. While not a perfect role model, he’s the sort of character that a more rambunctious Sonic needs to keep him on his toes and later form a semi-parental bond with.
For me at least, Edgerunners is top-tier (and I never much cared for Arcane). Sonic 3 was special though. It's not the best film I've seen this year, but it's the most FUN I've had watching a film this year. That alone is an achievement. Anyway, great video! The first I've seen from you, happily subscribed and can't wait for more!
26:42 To be completely fair to the Mario movie, the only one of those castings that didn't end up being amazing was Chris Pratt as Mario. Everyone else knocked it out of the park with their roles.
25:13 I mean its only fitting that sonic 1&2 doesn't have any sonic music because movies 1&2 are retelling the classic games. Sonic music like "open your heart" or "live and learn" doesn't start until adventure or the sonic R days so them not putting music until sonic 3 is really meta of them (I may be using meta incorrectly but I'm just to get my point across)
Instrumentals? Could've used Knuckles' theme, rather than that generic horns heavy"threathning music"! Swear you could refit that music with thanos scenes.
I do recomend shadow gens, its probably the best game in the whole franchise or close to it, but play the adventure games (including heroes and shadow 05) first because shadow gens controls so well its going to make jumping back to the adventure era pretty painfull for a newcomer Also I would love a series of movies more in line with the IDW comics since it has some of the best stories the franchise has had in recent memory (specially coming out from the meta era) but I do like the movies we are getting and I do want to see more from this universe they are creating, so familiar but also very different to the games and IDW
I should clarify that I have played the Adventure games. I mentioned in the video that I didn't play them growing up but I did eventually get around to them. I guess that part went over some people's head.
@@carso1500 Shadow Gens is just....okay. It's too short, its moveset is much more stripped down than OG Gens or Unleashed and the 2D stages are trash. Nowhere near the "best game in the whole franchise", stop that cap lol IDW Sonic-inspired movies ? Trash. We don't need furry drama, character bastardization, contrived drama, plot-induced stupidity or mediocre OCs. A sappy, melodramatic zombie apocalypse ? An inferior Heroes sequel ? Female Scourge and her boring identity crisis ? You call these the "best stories in recent memory" ? No, just no...
@@yrooxrksvi7142 what do you mean by "stripped down" because Shadow gens pretty much has the most responsive 3D speed character in the whole franchise (maybe with the sole exception of SA1 AND SA2 but that is debatable), unless you are saying that because Shadow is a little slower compared to Sonic but in exchange you have a lot more control over him even at high speeds and mid air And then you have his chaos and doom powers and there is a reason why speedruns are pooping up like crazy, the game has a lot of complexity and movement tech And the 2D stages arent the best in the franchise or anything but they are pretty much the best of the package and it's not even close, they control really well they almost feel like a modern take on the rush games with having boost on 2D stages 2D Sonic isnt bad but the consensus is pretty much that Shadow gens 2D stages are in general better than base gens 2D levels Also no shit it's short, it's basically the same length of original gens but OG gens was already pretty short so it basically doubled the gameplay time of the whole package I do have to admit that it's all very subjective but yes pretty much some of the best stories at least since the start of the past decade, its ok if you dislike them but they are pretty beloved by a lot of people I imagine that they just arent your cup of te Like I like the new characters, Tangle, Whisper and yes specially Surge, I think her conflict is interesting, the character could be managed a little better but she is a nice addition to the cast
@@centrilo651 alright alright, if that is the case then yes I recommend playing Shadow gens the game is crazy good one of the best if not the best 3D Sonic game in the entire franchise (and more crazy people than me would claim that it's the best game of the whole franchise period, i say that it definetly has some stiff competitiom but it's up there)
@@carso1500 Shadow Gens doesn't have the drift, or the Light Dash, or the Air Dash. Sure, you can exploit the Chaos Spear to get propelled forward, but that's just from poor programming, not intentional. They didn't even add his Chaos Blast or the ability to take off the Inhibitor Rings. The Doom Powers are either slightly juiced up Chaos powers or cleverly disguised Wisps. Doom Blast is basically the Cyan Wisp. The level design in the main stages just happens to be open, long, well designed and layered, fortunately. No, the 2D stages range from okayish straight lines with obstacles like Unleashed's side acts, to tedious, obnoxiously long, blocky vertical traps like Colors or Forces. So no, they're not like Rush. OG Gens is already a pathetically short rehash game made from the leftovers of Unleashed in terms of technical assets. This one was a glorified ad for the third movie. Doubled to what ? The same tired game plus a slightly better one with an even shorter runtime ? It's not subjective, IDW fails at characterizing multiple characters. Sonic is a sanctimonious hypocrite, Shadow is an angry edgelord and a moron, Silver is a fruit, and everyone just either spout references to old games, songs or quoting famous lines. Who's this "a lot of people" you talk about ? IDW Sonic has been irrelevant for years now. All the talk surrounding it is about the first 30-40ish issues, from 4-5 years ago. Tangle is a generic bubbly Deviantart OC, Whisper is a more melodramatic Blaze, and Surge never realized her potential because she's so poorly written and a bad copy of Scourge from Archie.
While Knuckles,Sonic and Shadow have really fleshed out personalities, tails is just the one who left everyone behind to be Sonic's sidekick, he has almost no backstory or reason to be with sonic in the movie universe.
I would love to see a Kirby movie like how the Mario movie was, or Sony revisiting the sky cooper movie. I'm glad to see videos game movies are doing well and Im excited for the future of the sonic movies. I personally would like to see sliver and big the cat
Genuinely upsets me that the fans mainly don’t care to see Tom and Maddie. I feel like me and mom are the only two sonic fans that enjoyed the wedding sub plot and get genuinely excited to see these characters and their relatives be a fun cast. Also… where was Jojo? Gravely missing from sonic 3
The first movie is good. It’s just laying the ground work but I highly recommend it. Sonic 2 is the Equivalent of Mega Man 2, it expanded upon the first Movie. More adventure More source Material and References.
Jim Carrey's performance as Dr. Robotnik reminds me of Gene Hackman's performance as Lex Luthor in the first Superman movies. Both actors brought a unique twist to their characters, making them significantly different from their original comic and video game counterparts, but also great in their own way too.
What’s so great about the films, is that they scratch that itch for older, loyal fans as if to say “we didn’t forget you guys, we know we need to do this right”. And for younger fans that are just now learning of Sonic through their parents. Frontiers to me, was a fresh chapter in a new era, the movies have simply reminded us who Sonic is, and the franchise: the coolest character in gaming. With a passionate, loyal fanbase. And just like the community and games, the movies are fun and have heart.
With all those multiple Metal Sonic's with the main one. Something tells me that were getting SOMETHING from the Fleetway Comics. But it's not Amy's design.
I say is peak because it’s been 2 years since I felt so happy for watching a movie. I invited my cousin and she didn’t wanna see it but after the movie she loved it so much she cried to shadow and his pain
My theory as to why the first Sonic movie was a bit "cookie-cutter" was because Paramount were simply finishing a project that was in developmental hell. People tend to forget that a Sonic movie had been in development since the 1990s, and had been passed around by multiple studios including MGM and DIC entertainment (who distributed Sonic SatAM), but in 2013, Sony became the most recent studio to acquire the film rights, with writing beginning the following year. TL:DR version - Paramount simply used the screenplay leftover by Sony after they dumped the project. FULL EXPLANATION: The early 2010s were a time when mascot family films were huge moneymakers, namely the live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, which was up to its 3rd release in 2011. In that same year, Universal Studios released Hop, a movie centered around the Easter bunny and coincidentally starred future Donut Lord himself James Marsden. Sony had also thrown their hat into the ring with the first Smurfs movie, released in, you guessed it, 2011. A bit of a diversion here, but back in the mid 2000s, producer Jordan Kerner was already working on a film adaptation of the Smurfs under Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. It was to be a prequel trilogy (think Star Wars prequel style) set in the world of the Smurfs, exploring Gargamel's backstory and the Smurf Soup. Early animation footage of the project leaked in 2008, which coincidentally was the year in which Sony bought the film rights. Kerner stated at the time the Sony acquisition came about because he had a conversation with Sony's then-CEO Michael Lynton, who reportedly shared his passion for the franchise, but if I may indulge in a moment of "tin-foil hat" conspiracy, I think Sony were influenced by the success of the first live-action/CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, released in 2006. With news that a sequel would come out in 2009, naturally Sony wanted to cash in on this potential new trend, so they "stole" the project from under Paramount and Nickelodeon's noses. Fast forward to 2016, and the Sonic movie was lingering in development hell, having found a new director (Jeff Fowler) and executive producer (Tim Miller). It was also around this time that the screenplay for the movie was re-written by new writers, after the previous writers dropped out due to creative differences. By this time, mascot family films had declined in popularity, with the Chipmunks releasing their last sequel in 2015, and Sony cancelling plans for a 3rd live-action Smurfs movie the previous year. Coupled with a string of other box-office failures, Sony put the project in turnaround in 2017, and I think when Paramount picked up the film rights that same year (ironic considering it was Sony who bought the Smurfs film rights), they just simply adopted the screenplay leftover by Sony, since rewriting it a second time would be time-consuming, expensive, and even risk derailing the project all over again.
Ive always kinda thought i wouldnt put it past a company to make a fake trailer to get people to care about a movie that was likely to bomb and gain goodwill and interests. Its probably not true, but with just hiw laughably bad the design was, i wouldnt be shocked if it came out they did that because it wasnt getting the excitement and hype they wanted when it was announced. Sonic is doing better now, then since the 90s. Thats not entirely out of the realm of possibility, Ryan Reynolds leaked the deadpool test footage and then people went nuts demanding more. I could see the same for sonic. Piss the audience off, give them what they want after.
I think Shadow is gonna get his own movie specifically so they have a release valve for putting other characters into this setting. Two movie series can handle a bigger world than one.
this video is weirdly nitpicky with personal criticism, instead of discussing the actual evolution of the movies. These are all personal takes, which if thats the case, this shouldve been titled as a review of the movie series, because I disagree with a lot of these takes. Aside from the Knuckles series, i havent seen it, nor do I plan to.
So, let me tell you my experience of Sonic 3 pretty empty theater I guess the other people who came to the theater wanted to see that Lion King movie, but if I were being honest, movie was incredible, now I need to ask my dad for Sonic x Shadow Gens, I have to say one of the best movies of 2024 can't believe it's over we had so many good movies in 2024, there's obviously - Sonic 3, but then we have others like gxk the new empire, Deadpool and Wolverine, the wild robot, transformers one, (hot take), Venom 3
You should listen to keep up by juice wrld if you haven’t already. I think it would’ve been the best song for the sonic movies if they actually would’ve used it
The Sonic movies are just entertaining kids movies. Fun yes, from the second one they also start making them feel more in line with the games, what with aesthetics, locations, lore, quotes or music cues. But they're just.....kiddy movies for kids. Which means in order to get an epic fight, you'll still have to sit through fart jokes, lame wedding romcom nonsense, useless pop culture references. Movie 1 is your stereotypical Bayformers/TMNT/Alvin/Smurfs first entry. Movie 2 is already better in many ways, taking aspects of Sonic 2, 3&K and even SA1. Movie 3 was a loose adaptation of SA2 with some....mixed results. Particularly, Gerald Robotnik's portrayal. Hell, I still don't think Jim Carrey was the right choice to play Dr Eggman, because all he's doing is recycling his Ace Venture/Riddler/Grinch repertoir from 30-25 years ago, and by Movie 3, it is getting grating and even detrimental to the story (honestly, Gerald has been turned ino a complete joke and that was a mistake, they could have hired Christopher Lloyd, Bryan Cranston or Patrick Stewart to play him, and act straight for most of the movie). The Knuckles show was also pretty......garbo. Aside from some funny or cool action scenes, it was just a really mean-spirited and unfunny sitcom starring Wade the Deputy Sheriff. And that's why I'm weary about a Shadow spin-off, let alone Movie 4. Because they can't let go of that kids demographic excuse to be a little more immersive and sincere. Movie 4 would benefit more if it was either a Heroes adaptation (Neo Metal Sonic controlling the other Metals, Amy and the Chaotix joining the cast, Eggman locked away) or a SA1 adaptation (setting up Chaos as an alternate villain instead of Eggman, show it from Tails' perspective), while the Shadow spin-off would focus on getting Team Dark (Rouge and Omega) together and Shadow finding his purpose. But from the looks of it, I fear we're entering time travel nonsense territory and Amy might get the Hollywood girl boss treatment.
This is why I hope Eggman is truly dead for good this time. I feel like his character arc is complete, with him acknowledging Stone as his only friend and sacrificing himself to save the world for him. Bringing him back just to be evil again wouldn't make sense. I also fear Jim Carrey will take over these films, as he has more screentime than any character in Sonic 3. But, my cinema was packed with little kids with Sonic T-shirts and caps watching Sonic 3 with their parents, and everyone was laughing at most of Jim's antics. Maybe I'm too old for these films, because the target demografic loves them. I heard someone on Reddit say Sonic is the Venom of videogame movies, which I think it is fitting comparison. But hey, as a veteran Sonic fan, it is cool seeing so many kids liking openly Sonic. I'm not gonna be mad about it, back in my childhood I had stuff like Sonic Underground on TV.
Sonic 4 is probably going to be related to Time Travel, there's some cut content from SONIC 3 that suggests there's time travel involved + metal sonic appears just like terminator (every terminator movie has a time travel plot)
@@CanaldoZenny He won't. They'll just give enough of a pause for Jim Carrey to chill. But I too agree that they gave him too much screentime, at the detriment of the engagement into more serious scenes. Yeah, sure....These movies made Sonic relevant amongst kids. But do you honestly think they'll be engaged enough to start playing games or get involved in the franchise besides some moronic outdated memes ? I don't think so.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 that's exactly why I'm worried about Sonic 4. It will still be an okay movie but a massive letdown from what came before if that's the premise.
The complaining about Sonic being mad at the cop is Kinda a stupid criticism tbh. Complaining about Sonic berating Tom for leaving green hills. Kinda reeks of 2000’s angry nerd reviewer/youtube skeptic shit. Sonic has abandonment issues, it’s part of his character arc in the movie. Does he want Sonic to make the correct decision every time? Would make a boring movie.
I think Jim Carrey should come back for a 4th film. In my eyes Eggman is a villain and this ending does not portray him this way. Even though I think it was good.
32:41 Honestly, no thanks. I'm in for a fully animated feature, but the mainline games can't figure what they even want them to be. From 1998 to 2009, there was some emphasis on storytelling and lore. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it was a miss, but the concept was there. From 2010 till 2017-18, they turned the franchise into a laughing stock of self-deprecating jokes, childish tone, bastardized characters and too much nostalgia pandering. Nowadays, they STILL haven't let go of the nostalgia pandering, and even though they're trying so hard to steer back into narrative-focused games, Frontiers and Shadow Gens didn't impress me at all, in fact, they still have many issues and feel like overcompensations. The IDW comics ? Those are absolute trash. No world building, more character derailment, all of the dialogue consists of referencing old games or Crush 40 songs, the art tends to be too "lol dank meme" material on purpose, loads of forced plot elements that are just dumb, boring or uninteresting new characters, a comically attempt at being dark with a generic zombie apocalypse story that dragged on way longer than it should have, a mediocre female Scourge whose character arc went nowhere, the insufferable Zeti from the ghastly Lost World. We don't need that on screen.
Ok, so it's not just me being annoyed at the constant referencing. I though it was a kids' humor thing which I was out of target for (even if I think kids would get it even less) or a pop movie thing, thought I was being the weird one
You played the old Collection games but never bothered with the Adventure games and Heroes ? Bruh On one hand, some of the cuts made for the movie are a mixed bag. Being inside a bunker instead a space station is fine, I guess. Same for Shadow being an alien who doesn't know where he comes from, as it's such an obvious set up for the Black Arms and Black Doom from his solo game. But Maria being terminally ill and Shadow being supposed to be her cure.....that's one aspect they shouldn't have cut. They made Gerald also way too goofy and cartoony, especially his death was insulting. He needed to be played straight aside from some quirks and jokes. Skip Shadow Gens, that's just nostalgia bait. Play SA2 or just watch its cutscenes, and see for yourself (bad audio mixing and clunky mistranslations aside) how it is the superior version of the story. That said, Shadow was treated good, Keanu was a good casting no doubt, though he felt underutilized.
This the third and last time ima comment on your trash ass opinions but calling Shadow Gens nostalgia bait is ridiculously ironic since the whole point of the Generations games is to revisit the past stages and history of Sonic and Shadow. It doesn’t take a simpleton to understand that. The appeal is seeing how these stages and gameplay have evolved in newer high quality designs, mechanics physics

When they revealed how shadow wound up on earth all i could think was "they're setting up the black arms aren't they"

as an arcane fan who played the games and watched the tv show, i can confirm the source material is garbage.. i'm not joking it's not good, its enjoyable but yeah😭I also watched the second season of arcane and to be brutally honest it was a let down from the first season, so i'll give the show slightly the same level as the sonic series, tho after watching the sonic movie 3 for the second time I feel like sonic as a video game adaption does it way better in my opinion.
I think I’m more on the side of: I wanna see more Sonic characters but I don’t mind the humans opposed too: I want more Sonic charecters but ewwwww trashy humans-from a human
But Tom and Maddie seem like good characters I don’t mind wade in the knuckles shadow but I do not like Wanda whipple commander Walters was cool director Rockwell was mid Rachel and Randall are mid No idid not rage at the wedding scene and cryed about it
That was definitely a complaint I had with “Sonic X”.
And imo, even he wasn't that bad.
The voices are much better in the French dub of the movie. The American version was garbage.
Chris Pratt was surprisingly really good and it didn't take away my immersion to the story
i dont agree lol. most of the voice acting in that movie isnt good
@@shibitoobscura3348 No, it really wasn't.
@ yea, but the only things to pull from is Knuckles theme from Sonic 3 and Sonic which is just Green Hill from that time
@ I can understand Egg-man’s theme too
lol so all of the amazing music in the first 3 Sonic games just doesn't exist anymore?
even then the live and learn they used in sonic 3 was 50 seconds of the chorus with a generic instrumental
32:34 ngl Glad your not in charge
Sonic 3 is PEAK CINEMA💯💯🔥🔥
The Only reason their doing well, because the competition does worse! Why else?
I saw it twice so far 😫
I do recomend shadow gens, its probably the best game in the whole franchise or close to it, but play the adventure games (including heroes and shadow 05) first because shadow gens controls so well its going to make jumping back to the adventure era pretty painfull for a newcomer
Also I would love a series of movies more in line with the IDW comics since it has some of the best stories the franchise has had in recent memory (specially coming out from the meta era) but I do like the movies we are getting and I do want to see more from this universe they are creating, so familiar but also very different to the games and IDW
Nowhere near the "best game in the whole franchise", stop that cap lol
IDW Sonic-inspired movies ?
@@yrooxrksvi7142 what do you mean by "stripped down" because Shadow gens pretty much has the most responsive 3D speed character in the whole franchise (maybe with the sole exception of SA1 AND SA2 but that is debatable), unless you are saying that because Shadow is a little slower compared to Sonic but in exchange you have a lot more control over him even at high speeds and mid air
And then you have his chaos and doom powers and there is a reason why speedruns are pooping up like crazy, the game has a lot of complexity and movement tech
And the 2D stages arent the best in the franchise or anything but they are pretty much the best of the package and it's not even close, they control really well they almost feel like a modern take on the rush games with having boost on 2D stages
2D Sonic isnt bad but the consensus is pretty much that Shadow gens 2D stages are in general better than base gens 2D levels
Also no shit it's short, it's basically the same length of original gens but OG gens was already pretty short so it basically doubled the gameplay time of the whole package
I do have to admit that it's all very subjective but yes pretty much some of the best stories at least since the start of the past decade, its ok if you dislike them but they are pretty beloved by a lot of people I imagine that they just arent your cup of te
Like I like the new characters, Tangle, Whisper and yes specially Surge, I think her conflict is interesting, the character could be managed a little better but she is a nice addition to the cast
11:40 It's gotta be because Colleen is not as big a Hollywood actor as Idris Elba, it's just gotta be that.
While Knuckles,Sonic and Shadow have really fleshed out personalities, tails is just the one who left everyone behind to be Sonic's sidekick, he has almost no backstory or reason to be with sonic in the movie universe.
22:28 found the interview where Jim Carrey mentions this. It's in a compilation on the making of the third movie by STREAM WARS
I would love to see a Kirby movie like how the Mario movie was, or Sony revisiting the sky cooper movie. I'm glad to see videos game movies are doing well and Im excited for the future of the sonic movies. I personally would like to see sliver and big the cat
Sonic Forces was so bad that when Sonic Frontiers trailers came out people were immediately not trusting it.
Great film series so far.
25:36 Thanks for reminding me that this existed.

Loved this movie so much.
Imagine they kept the bad sonic in the first trailers so Imagine what Shadow Amy knuckles and tales would look like
Then there wouldnt be a second or third movie. So sad for that timeline.
FULL EXPLANATION:
The early 2010s were a time when mascot family films were huge moneymakers, namely the live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, which was up to its 3rd release in 2011.
Knuckles has his own TV series on prominent+
Howdy there!

@@Izhen_UwU And that sounds like a really terrible premise. The exact way to kill hype for good.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 that's exactly why I'm worried about Sonic 4. It will still be an okay movie but a massive letdown from what came before if that's the premise.

Juice world had a song for sonic and it was actually pretty good I’m sad it wasn’t used but due to circumstances I can see why
Disagree with u on Jelly Rolls song it was great but I respect everything else
I enjoy all three movies. Sure, I was disappointed that we never got to see other worlds much but it's getting there. I just hate the wedding scene.
Sounds like you're just ready to let go of the franchise and stick with what you did like.

On one hand, some of the cuts made for the movie are a mixed bag.
