I watched it For Rayman stayed for Bullfrog. The show had 6 episodes and some shit either got dropped plotlines or paced weird because you really don't get to see much with just 6 episodes. I enjoyed the show though.
I enjoy this show, but this needed more episodes to flesh out the story because six episodes isn't enough. Hopefully season two picks up those plotlines

Rayman and Bullfrog carry the heck out of this show for me man, and it’s 100% half nostalgia half Bullfrog being pretty cool. Them aside, we literally speedran what felt like a 2 Season long story within the runtime of what’d normally be half of a season.
Everyone else was either not there long enough for me to get invested in time, or was just missing something themselves to get me truly invested at all.
I think it was extremely dense, especially in the first 3 episodes. I think if it was given 3 or 6 more episodes and some rearranging of plot points, then it would be a 10/10 story

The main flaw of the show is that its frankly too short and dense for its own good.
6 episodes was really not enough for how much story there was to tell, hell we got to the point where characters got killed off an episode after they were introduced, plotlines get dropped entirely with no explanation etc.
Its a beautiful, gory and strangely fascinating mess of a show that I really hope gets a second season

Yeah, I would definitely like to see the writer spend more time on developing all of these characters and giving them all enough screen time to make a bigger impression. If they could just fix the pacing I think I would both understand and love the show more.

Honestly "Tiktok given an animation budget" feels like an apt description for it. Nigh-unintelligible, lacking in any context, and way more captivating than it honestly has any right to be.
I only really kept watching for the hot side characters.

While I had so much fun with this show, its so dense and fast paced that I struggle to wrap my head around by how it rapidfires through the plot and characters that didn't have time to breathe in these 6 episodes. I had to watch it multiple times if I missed out on any information that flew over head so fast. I just hope they spread out their story more because there is so much good potential for these characters on where they're heading.
Agreed, they just need to slow things down a bit and give us more time to learn about the characters. I hope they explain more things in Season 2
Honestly it was perfect for what you would expect from a show like this. It’s definitely and underrated gem but I do agree it’s way to fast paced and doesn’t give me much reason to always care about what’s going on like as is the case for every recent Netflix anime. But hey the fact the show exists is really cool and it’s a fun show, I just do wish they made the show longer and explained things better

While I did enjoy the show I think what ultimately held Captain Laserhawk back is the number of episodes the series was given. It's clear that due to only having six episodes they didn't have time to develop certain aspects of the show or get attached to certain characters like they wanted us to, I have zero idea on how shows get their episode number so I can't say whether or not the series was ment to have more episodes or that the first 3 episodes were ment to be season 1 and the last 3 were ment to be season 2 but it was cut down to only six, if anyone has more knowledge on it feel free to explain
The best example of this is with Jade and Pey'j's deaths. It's clear that they wanted their deaths to be kinda like the dropping of the mic moment (especially Jade's death) showing that our main characters could die at any moment, but it doesn't work because we're not given any time to grow an attachment to Jade or Pey'j since they die in episode 2 and 3 respectfully. It's especially hard to grow attached to them if you have no idea about Beyond Good and Evil, so when characters talk about how much they miss them, you don't really care because we spend so little time with them. It's the same problem with Serah being revealed to be the still working for Eden as well as being the true main villain of the series. While it's a interesting idea to have Sam Fishers daughter be the main villain and Serah does become a lot more fun when she allowed to act as evil as she wants, but again due to to the limited episodes we don't get the time to grow attached to Serah so when it's revealed she's evil the audience feels less betrayed and more like "Oh ok I guess your the villain now" it doesn't help that they made it WAY too obvious that she was had ulterior motives and was gonna be revealed to actually be evil
I think this problem is why Bullfrog and Rayman are considered the best part of the show, not only are they both interesting characters with well pased stories and arcs, but people were able to grow attached to them because they were giving time to care about them and what happened to them or could happen
I know I may sound really harsh and I wanna make it clear that despite my problems with shows pacing and handling with certain characters, I really respect what the crew was able to accomplished with just six episodes, I just really hope if Netflix gives the green light for another season of Laserhawk, the crew is allowed to have more episodes for season 2 so they can give time to the world and characters
Definitely agree. They got me interested with Jade and Pey'j once they bought up Pey'j's feelings, but instantly made me go "Oh nvm, don't really care anymore" once they killed off Jade, AND THEN PEY'J RIGHT AFTER 😭
It was mainly interesting bc the only Ubisoft game I've played was Rayman, and I've only watched my dad and brother play Assassin's Creed.

I think you nailed my thoughts exactly for a good portion of the show I just thought laserhawk was too much of a douche to everyone to be compelling. Bullfrog and rayman really stole the show. Other than that the show feels more like a cool showcase for what the studio is capable of than anything really deep or meaningful. I wouldn’t mind a season 2 the show just needs to cool it’s jets a bit
I agree completely and I really hope they develop his character a bit more. Dolph could definitely be an amazing character, its just that right now he's just too "edgy" (for the lack of a better term). I think they should give him the time to figure out his feelings. Other than that, yeah they just need to slow things down a tad and I think the show could explore those loose plot points they haven't tied up properly
@@abbeybelanger8118He was literally a day before betrayed by the loves of his life and is forced with others to work for some weird ass warden, of course he would be super pissed, that is not badly written nor too edgy, it would be cringe to expect him to be all nice.
If sympathy is all that makes for a good character, then all the edgy characters would be horrible, but that would be dishonest as a take. Bullfrog is cool and all, but ultimately not the one to develop at all. Rayman does, but not nearly as much as Dolph.

Noo for realll, I was really hoping their would be more flashbacks with lazer hawk and Alex, I go so pumped to see more of what their relationship meant to each other and to get invested to the dynamic between the two after only getting 1 flash back. I hope if the show gets a season 2 we could get more of lazers feeling toward alex, I watched the series bc of all the talk with rayman, and still really liked his arc but ended up loving bullfrog Smmm. I even felt guilty how I didn’t like his character that much when he appeared on screen but regardless I love how his influence and morals did change how certain outcome’s happened. Bullfrog his honesty so sweet and cute of a character and a total badass with his assassin skill. The moment that he tries to stop Pey’j from his emotion get the better of him, he’ll stick around and supported him regardless. I really believe that was the moment I really respect and value his character (plus his a cute lil frog so how could I not) both rayman and bullfrog are both now my recent favourite character/ hyperfixation. Also Sam fisher was just a badass, no argument with that. Dispite the series feeling to short and rushed for so,e of its pacing im looking forward to season 2 and where it left of.
A few thought I do have for season 2.(if it does happen) Where will rayman go? Where did bullfrog go after his execution got cancelled, his still In Custody so it he like in prison or something? Will we get more focus on the tension between hybrids and humans after the supposed attack that happen in ep 3?

the whole rayman hair thing, it made me think about how the third game is a lot more crude like the fairies having sexualixed clothing, one of the teaser for the game being literaly about rayman dong, so it makes sense that once the bad shit happens rayman hair goes from his more kid like approach to his more messy style from rayman 3 and then just scrapping that for the slick back hairstyle signalying atleast for me the complete seperation of the game and show character
Tbh I wished this show had more than just 6 episodes. I love the storyline and subplots. Also I do agree on Rayman and Bullfrog carrying this show, I hope I see them again in the potential next season 👍
Sam fisher(Splinter Cell), Rayman, Bullfrog(Assassin Creed), just like their franchises are the best characters in the show just like the games and it's sad that an animated show seems to do them justice while Ubisoft out right ignores them or does them wrong
I loved this show, I thought it was a lot of fun. It wasn't perfect, but it was memorable and definitely left an impact on me. I really enjoyed how over the top it was, and I especially enjoyed how fast paced it was. It was just a shamelessly crazy and fun show that I personally found to be really enjoyable.

It took me so long to realize this show is about all of the ubisoft games, and I spent an embarrassing amount of time wondering why Bullfrog was wearing an assassins creed outfit.
I think the identity politics joke worked, because it actually showed the king of character Red was; A bigoted asshole, it unironically foreshadowed his remark's towards Rayman on live TV.
Honestly I enjoyed the show so much, I know it was really short but take in mind Netflix cuts shows in half to see how well they do before they release the whole thing. Also there’s a lot of ways they can go with this, maybe Jade and Page where also saved by Sam Fisher in his virtual world and they will reunite everyone for a mission to stop Sara, also I think you where a little harsh on some of the characters, like I actually really appreciated Page’s character. I like it when they don’t make the big guy a feeling less destroyer. And Lazerhawk’s character was actually really good in my opinion. His action scenes were amazing and his voice acting was great too. He was everything you could want in a mysterious character. Also I think the reason they made it so short is so they can experiment and see how things turn out. You see there’re different types of group characters. Comic relief~Bullfrog, big man~Page, mysterious one~Lazerhawk, and there has to be at least one female character~Jade. I think they will explore this more in the future and they might meet Rayman and team up. All I know is I love the show and there are so many different ways it can turn out.
In the game Beyond Good and Evil, Jade is kind of a recantation of an alien entity and possesses some weird alien power she is unaware of this power until the end of the game . And those powers can revive people and bring them back to life from the dead . So when Jade was killed she end up discovering this power when she realizes that she is in some kind of Limbo between life and death kind of like Lazerhawk when he meet Sam Fisher after he died and Since Aliens like Rayman (Ramon) exist there could be a possible chance that Jade, Lazerhawk , and Pey’j can return from the death.

The primary reason why both of her shows, Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, has better writing and humor is because she had Brandon Rogers and Adam Neylan, especially Adam.

i've heard that netflix cut the show in 2. They've done it many times before, they're given a full season but cut it in two and pretend it's 2 seasons. But i could be wrong

I think this show has a lot of potential, afaik it's going to get a season 2 sometime this year and I'm pretty hopeful, I agree with you on pretty much all of your points.
The best part of this show was recognizing all the characters they used
I love seeing proper animated series with representation, good ones, bad ones, IDC. It's amazing and something I could never dream growing up as a gay kid. I loved Jade's design and personality and hated the abrupt end she gets, that's the thing I liked less about the show.
As a WD fan I can vouch that yeah, Markus definitely would end up becoming that if given the chance, and my dad (splintercell fan) lost his shit when he saw Sam, we both enjoyed the show thoroughly and I thought it was great at times, the fact that they added so many things from their games was pretty cool, kinda like those old CN ads that had characters from their shows interacting with each other in a work environment.
I like aspects of this show (even if the writing is horrendous at times), but one thing I couldn't stand was how the main character was Adi Shankar's edgy self-insert. It always makes me cringe when he does this in his shows, and it has me worried for the DMC Netflix series.
Watched for Rayman and I'm glad I did. His story really spoke to me and I thought it was very interesting.
I also enjoyed the rest of it. It was wonderful and I hope we get more. Especially for the animation!!!! It's so fun to watch!!
From my perspective, the show feels like a popular crossover fanfic that was animated. I still enjoyed it.
I went to watch this show for shits and giggles with the whole Rayman thing, I really didn't think I would really stay but I ended up doing just that and that is because of one character, Bullfrog(🎉). He is most definitely my favorite thing on this show, a lot of people seem to agree with that and also agree with the fact that the other characters were a bit eh and not really well developed. Even Laserhawk suffers with thus, he just feels so bland for me. I don't dislike him, he's alright, still tho, I feel like there's so much missing.
Really hope the second season tries to fix that, even if almost the entire cast is fucking dead.
I wish they get a season 2 to kinda redeem themselves…the show has potential!
Weird way to bring back the protags from beyond good and evil.
The animation seems to be mostly off 2's in 12fps, some of the stilted framing and movement is because of still images since the head and hair is on one layer that barely moves and the lips and eyes on another to doing all the motion. from the look of it there's barely any rig based animation, maybe ray man is tho, the bottom of the face of some characters to lower the jaw when talking, and minor movements like hair/limbs rarely too. the framerate is definitely what makes it look stiff, most notable whenever red is on screen - animator/animation nerd

I thought it was ok. Not terrible, but not fantastic either. Seemed pretty random at times. Did like how missions looked like different video games. We’ll see if it gets a S2.

I didn't grow up with Rayman, but I did grow up with Farcry and Assassins Creed. I loved the show, it was absolutely wild. Going into it, I was interested but didn't know anything about it, and wasn't as interested in watching it. Then I saw Rayman holding people at gunpoint and said screw it, and binged it in an afternoon
Pretty sure the Rayman in Laserhawk is not the rayman from the Rayman games, but rather the Rayman from the Rabbids game.
it would make sense because the rayman from the rayman raving rabbids games disappears after the third title, and also he was pretty overshadowed by some fkn non-verbal rodents so I'd go crazy too after that 💀

honest, i liked it, genuenly, all the videogame stuff aside, i couldnt really put this show on any timeline and it probable never was meant to but thats just the mindset i aproached this from, i dont really know much about ubisoft characters eather but grew up with assasins creed and feel sad over how bad the new games are, the representation of this capitalist basically apocoliptic world was interesting, where all the world has been taken over by the eden priests and all of the assasins are almost gone, after witch the world has reached a point of being only run by increased proffits to the point that the populus are treated like cattle, especialy those different from the majority, kind of commentary type stuff right there.
GIVE ME THE NEXT SEASON, NO CRITICISM HERE

This show is the most insane and pragmatic crossover I've ever seen
Captivating setting and visuals, terrific soundtrack, chaotic and rushed story, boring/borderline unlikable protagonist... Killing Jade and PeyJ so early was a huge mistake. Rayman and Bullfrog have no business being the best characters in the show, and I doubt anyone will complain. Overall, mixed feelings about this show but I will lie if I said I am not looking forward to more episodes.

Just going off of the head-canon that Eden is just Ubisoft taking over the world with corporative powers makes it seem somewhat more bearable for a first watch, We'll see if I get around to it.

I don't really feel like red complaining about identity politics was a joke i think that was part of commentary considering the scene with him on the news with rayman. Also I think the taxi scene was probably more likely just supposed to be over the top then a joke I mean it was a scene of a guy getting tortured.

I came for the show because of the concept and because the second I found out Bobby Pills worked on it I was already in, Peepoodo was such an inspiration with my art I had to follow Balaks next project.
This show really made me mad when that doesn't happen often. I was looking forward for it and I watched the worst thing this year offered to me. Almost all of your points are what I feel but without the angry feeling I still have.

But, the bad pacing really felt like they were trying so hard to get you invested in the characters (characters who were super bland with development came out of nowhere. Bullfrog and Rayman were good tho). Plus, if you don't know the guys you're watching on screen from their respective videogames, it's like they are filler.
When watching the second half i really got angry for all the character moments they were throwing at my face. They didn't deserve them

shockingly filled with alot of universe building pieces from most ubsoft games that have been well franchised, not to say I don't agree with the fact that its fast paced but this is also one of those Netflix shows that they shiped in two parts very stupid of them to do that since it hurts the viability of the show becoming more successful but whatever. fav fact is that the show takes place in a universe were the knights templar rule with an iron fist (in the show they called EDEN but bruh it is virtually obvious if you've played at least 1 AC game in your life.)

I was a fan of Beyond Good and Evil. I loved playing that game on my Xbox. I played that game for a solid 10 years before my Xbox finally died in 2022. RIP Xbox 2004 to 2022.
I didn't watch this show, and I won't because they used Jade and Pey'j in name only to make discount Netflix Faye Valentine and Turkish knock off King Shark. I'm not even mad they blew Jade's brains out, or gave Pey'j some gross unrequited love for his niece. They're only the characters in name only.
I'm just sad that there's no proper sequel to Beyond Good and Evil, and Ubisoft thinks it's funny to shit on its own IPs.
