I'm so happy you put the factory side panels back on. The glossy carbon just didn't flow with the rest of the interior although it would go great in a completely black interior car. Steering wheel is a beautiful touch as well. Keep up the great work!
I’d double check your airbag is genuine. I bought the same wheel and the airbag it came with also had alcantara, but it was essentially a genuine airbag with a custom cap on it. I opened it to check and the cap wasn’t weakened so it would deploy correctly. Suspect it would have fired the cap at me or done nothing in an accident. I bought another I knew to be genuine. You might be fine, but worth checking. I think mine had been refurbed with a new bag and cap abroad and sold fraudulently as genuine. There’s a lot of these bundled on the likes of eBay etc. if the price is low be suspicious (looks good, but safety first). All the best. Car looks awesome. Frustrating re your pccm+
That crap would have flown exactly nowhere here in Finland or Europe in general. A warranty replacement can't cost the customer anything and you can even quote the dealership/seller if there are costs to you during the warranty process like say driving back and forth to the dealership, leaving your car there for weeks etc. I'm always in disbelief with the non-existent customer rights when it comes to the land of the free...
@@matt13ross That it is, but the system lets Porsche to get away with doing these kinds of things. And I mean it's not even a warranty case, but a case of DoA-equipment, which should be changed to a new unit with no questions asked. Albeit the issue with the head unit frying the smaller sub-unit isn't that easy to diagnose as the time spent in the dealership pointed out, but still you shouldn't have to pay anything for this "service".
Oh yes the hell they DO!! I'm from NL and the Audi dealership completely ripped me off for 300EUR. My Virtual Cockpit on my TTRS was faulty and i wanted to replace it, i got a replacement one from a car with just 1km on it with prove from the junkyard (bill, VIN number and pictures). I really like the approach to the 997 vs the 996 when it comes to the interior - its more oem+ than full on aftermarket (all leather over the CF aswell)
My dad installed a PCCM+ in his 996TT and my brother’s 944. In both cars they didn’t have volume and needed a lot of work to get them to have volume, but neither unit ended up being replaced. I helped with both of them but I don’t remember what ended up working. Both cars did have cut up wiring from aftermarket radios, and that may have been causing issues when he installed them. It’s been a long time and I don’t remember anymore. Just that both gave us a ton of issues. Issues I haven’t ever had doing any other headunit lol. I was surprised that yours ended up needed to be replaced. I figured it was whatever issue we ran into.
Certainly frustrating that Porsche would not warranty a defective part, even after a dealership determined that the head unit was faulty. The new wheel looks amazing though!
I’ll tell you that I had the same crap results with Suncoast when I had a problem with my PCCM+. It was having iPhone connection issues and they said I would have to take my car to a dealership since I did the install. They said they sold 1000’s of these and had zero problems. I’ll never recommend Suncoast Porsche for anything.
