Yes she plays mostly covers, with an original here and there, but her technique is absolutely jaw dropping, and flawless.

Agreed, I’d also say Kent Nimishura would be another good interview. He does the most amazing fingerstyle renditions of famous songs, seems a bit underrated at the moment

Yesss, I've been following Tora for a while on Instagram now and she has this relatability somehow. She's so incredible but she's inspiring instead of making me want to give up :) I feel like that's something about Mary too. There's that genuine, humble energy there. It's so incredible.
Tora, i love her in a first sight..there's so many female guitarist recently n they're all very good guitar players but (for me) Tora, she's different, i don't know how i like her instantly, the way she played n she always smiling that elevates her beauty :D

I’ve watched a lot of her live vids. I’m a part-time gigging guitarist. Tora is a consummate performer. She knows what she’s doing communicating with audience in the way she does. Follow her eyes, her expressions - totally engaging. And she’s a VERY tasty guitar player too.
I haven’t heard of her before even though I’m Norwegian. Usually Norwegian artists are played quite a lot on the radio. She’s probably about to blow up. Definitely going to listen to her now.

Greetings from Mexico! My advice to learning a new language is to dive into music of that particular language, and trying to sing along. That helped me get familiar with english!

The performers I admire are those who have been knocking it out for years and still want to do the best they can. That is why I love Springsteen so much. As a live performer he has it in spades. The same with Coldplay. Absolute dynamite. I would go see them over and over. Springsteen says you should always do your best. People pay money, so it is your obligation to deliver a great show.

Hello Mary. I discovered you because of Josh Turner and Reina del Cid. Now I discovered Tora because of you. I love the UK and Scandinavian accents. Tora made me think of ABBA from Sweden. I'm an ABBA fan. You both have beautiful smiles and I enjoyed the interview. I don't even watch TV anymore. RUclips is so much better. I understand the reasoning behind putting off an album release until the start of a tour. However, by that time every musician on earth will have done the same or they will have produced a totally new album. So best to part it out to singles or EPs in the mean time and keep on writing for the next tour!

Just on the point of practice... I played guitar when i was younger but kind of lost interest... discovered the acoustic at 30 and really started practicing a lot... mainly finger-style, but lately i feel that im not getting anywhere.. have been playing for a 1 and 1/2 years and it feels like i still can play my favorite tunes perfectly... I know its normal to feel like this sometimes but how long am i supposed to take to get good enough to play live? I would die if i get on stage like this...
In the comment below Jon is mentioning Gabrielle, and she is freaking awesome... but in a Q&A she mentioned that she used to play 8 hours a day... is that what it takes?
About finding your audience on Instagram, RUclips etc. A lot of musicians have lately approaced live streaming either performances or practicing. On twitch.tv you'll find Matt Heafy from Trivium, Devin Townsend, Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park, Christopher Bowles from Alestorm, Andrew Kingsley from Unleash the Archers. I'm sure there are more I've forgot or still not noticed. But that is a source of income where when the channel grows, people can subscribe and it can be a job.
I also wished i had grown up in a musical family! I regret that when I picked up the guitar in my teens that I didn’t push through with it and only came back to it seriously in my 30’s 🙈 haha but better late than never! Might have been distracted by final fantasy and tony hawk on the ps and world of Warcraft on the pc! Hours gone!!
Same here... stated electric at 17, on and off, and at 30 i finally discovered finger style on the acoustic... all those years wasted... im 32 now and im hanging on to the last bit of motivation i have left to try and get good at it.. so far im not impressed with my progress...

Hey, as I'm getting into gamedevelopment as a quarantine hobby I think playing games at a young age could be seen as enjoying arts - just like music .. the difference is just that most people don't perceive games as an art and therefore are much less likely to pursue a career as a gamedev or something
