John was funny, but honestly I don't think he gave very accurate impressions. Like he's not exactly _wrong_ about Stevie Nicks, but given what he said, you're still not going to understand 80% of references to her. Like yeah, frustrated mom playing her music in the car is true. Weirdo sorceress vibe is true. But from his account you wouldn't know that she was a legit rock star first. Cover of Rolling Stone multiple times legit. To '60s and '70s kids, she's someone who is cool and who it's cool to like. Most of his other answers are similarly one-faceted accounts. Funny though.
Jennifer Vasquez. You know, that's actually a bit fucked up on your part. What...do you speak English with a heavy accent as well? Shreya Gokhale the collab I didn’t know I wanted until I got it 😂
Definitely! 💯
Inferno Blizzard omg same!
It's weird seeing John Mulaney in jeans.
Tan's work!
I was going to say that! It’s the outfit Tan picked out!
When he came out I was like "Wait...John Mula-? Oh-! He's not wearing a suit."
It's so attractive
HES SO CASUAL WHAT
John really should host the Oscars.
Petition for John Mulaney and Nick Kroll to do a full on 20 minute monologue for Oscars
He should host everything
He may
I need a full netflix special of john mulaney explaining important figures in american pop culture cause as a first gen chicana i also dont understand who most figures are or their importance and id like to be in the know
It was weird af during that point in time where a bunch of these figures where dying n everyone was really sad about it n i had never even heard of most of them
Jennifer Vasquez 😂
I haven't heard of most of them, but I don't live in the US either so 😅
John was funny, but honestly I don't think he gave very accurate impressions.
It's really dumb that you grew up in such a cultural bubble. You should rage at your parents for their neglect to assimilate you into the America that surrounded you. Most American pop culture figures are well-known internationally as well. This would also go beyond the anglosphere.
John Mulaney dissing on boomers is a mood.
💯
Safi Ullah Khan he’s gen x so it’s awesome
Richard Dweck I think technically he’s early millennial, most places start millennials at 1980-2 and he was born in 82
@@jennifermcardle6029 yeah, he's about my age, born around or just after 80. read somewhere recently that some are starting to call us xennials? like a micro-generation between Gen X and Millenials, because we don't really fit in with either one. we've just always been lumped in with people either slightly older or slightly younger than us.
@@jennifermcardle6029 that's so surprising to me, he has such mid-40s energy
The nervousness in John Mulaney’s face when Hasan had his phone 😂 omgggg
THATS A TRUE MILLENNIAL
can we just appreciate the fact John Mulaney called up reception so people won't send Hasan Alcohol
No I believe other people probably did send Hasan alcohol (he can't very well stop them from sending it) but John just wanted to be sure to send up a gift Hasan could actually use/appreciate.
“you’re on a sinking ship with lorne michaels a-“
“alright, here’s my phone.”
Hasan looks at the kids like a strict dad lol
Like dont disappoint, keep yourselves in check, this is the John mulaney.
The kind that might pull up to McDonalds with his family for one small black coffee?
@@phoenixliv oh my god exactly like that
Lol yessss
He channeled his inner desi dad
Had no idea John mulaney listing vague details about old celebrities could bring me such joy
JOHNS FATHER IM- “greatly enjoyed the conan interview” THATS SO SWEET YOU UNGRATEFUL TALL CHILD TEXT YOUR FATHER BACK
the way he so smoothly switched his unnoticed handshake offering to a hug at the end, my social anxiety could never
omg same lol
Him talking about dragging petunia and how Bulldogs are made from stone is literally how you know hes truly a dog person 😂 PREACH
That tall boy should try comedy he is kinda good
Yeah, he should try stand up, I think it would be good for him to get out there. Just hope he doesn't stay out too late, he looks kinda tired
He's got a name, John Mulaney, pls use it that's rude

Tan is amazing.

MaryAnn Brown Congrats on recently emerging from your coma. We missed you.
I like how the girl was desperately trying to comfort him with "No offense! No offense!" after completely destroying him with a single phrase 😂
Emre sooo savage lmao
What ways should old people renew themselves tho
Okay so in the comments people are complementing them on the Tan inspired outfits
She was super mean.
@@xx___x
I am trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, and say maybe she meant to say "don't act so young because it can come off as weird, in this day and age, to some people." but it came out "it seems weird" Especially if they don't know him.
The hesitation before she said "weird," and the instant regret of her choice of words makes it seem like she just kindof didn't know how to phrase it on the spot.
I myself was kindof like wtf? about the sack lunch bunch at first, but it's pretty wholesome to be trying to help the younger generation and give kids some relatable or healthy role models. M. Rogers type stuff idk. I'll withhold my judgment for now.
@@i-love-comountains3850 I feel like she was maybe just giving general "advice" to 37 year olds? Cause John's whole vibe tends to be older then he actually is. Dont act too young would be the furthest thing from my mind for advice for him lol At any rate she seemed a little flustered ,i doubt she was trying to be mean.
John is a comic genius. He is so quick. So clever.
"Don't try to act too young"
John Mulaney: "But I'm a tall child... that's my whole schtick"
lmfaooo true 😭😭

it's weird to see an interview occur while both people are standing
john has no suit .WHAT?!
Hasan Minhaj effect
Or Tan France effect?

Mulaney's knowledge of certain aspect of pop culture proves that he's a recent immortal.
Hasan is so quiet and still, it's almost worrying. He must really look up to John Mulaney.
They both were clearly Tan France'd
"Why do adults always look so unhappy?"
John Mulaney: Yes.
I love this man's comedy.
It is gravity not unhappiness
"Try not to act too young cause it's just weird."
John's face after he processed what she'd just said AHAHAHA
I loved the "Truth or Text" game. Kinda wanted to hear the full question though. Oh well. This was amazing. MORE!!!! MORE!!!!!
muamurko right??? Me too!
i guess for john he was thinking of the worst things he could be asked on television and the second he heard his ex-boss's name he was like NOPE TAKE MY PHONE I AINT RISKING IT
Definitely if you play with friends they're gonna text your crush 😂
Aqilah Nasir ah, ok. I knew I heard the name somewhere.
British comedian Michael McIntyre regularly does this on his show with celebrities too, except he sends some weird-ass text to everyone in the person's contacts (often including like the builder that did their bathroom renovation last year). The episodes are on RUclips, the bit is called Send to All.
I can FEEL the anxiety coming from John when he hands his phone over.
Hasan's pose at 20:55 is the most bollywood f**kboi pose ever
HHaahahhahahahaaaaaaa
hahahahahahahahaha I wish Hasan reads this comment
How the hell does one even pose like that unconsciously
LMAOO GOOD CATCH
I NOTICED THAT TOO
ITS OK HE WAS TRYING TO IMPRESS JOHN MULANEY
The answer to all the kids’ questions about “why this person..?” was:
Baby boomers.
tuvoksg1 Welcome to my life as a Gen-Xer. It’s always about what Baby Boomers are into. 🙄
The only ppl these kids asked about were baby boomer era actors and musicians. Why didn't they ask about any gen x entertainers? Because they weren't as memorable or popular.
Also the baby boomers made some of the Best classic rock music produced. It's Still popular worldwide and used in movies for soundtracks/backgrounds.
Baby boomers have done some right and some wrong with their contributions to society, But So Has Every Generation Before us And Since us, so please stop with the 'ok, boomer' response. It's just disrespectful and dismissive to the whole generation that raised or helped raise the millennials and next generation after them.
rimfire2010 ok boomer

don't call me out like this
Tan is in the back crying bc of how good their outfits look.
Let's just have a show that's 30 minutes per episode of John explaining outdated/adult concepts to Abeer.
John Mulaney will never not be funny. Personally, I’m can’t wait until he is doing standup with a cane.
"I have made my peace with not knowing." My 2019 in a sentence.
Cuffed jeans are reserved for bisexuals and John Mulaney only
this!
Mulaney always sounds like a 40s baseball commentator. It's a treat.
I love that he calls the dog by name but the wife is "a wife" lmao
Because “wife” has some kick ass to it
Wife doesn't want to be a public figure, probably. Dogs are always down for attention.
“Tons of people were Jewish.” -John Mulaney, 2019.
You can tell John has been hanging out with kids, he can really speak on their level

Such a tender moment when he says at the end that he’s gonna go call his dad. 32:59

There was also that moment where Hasan joked about inviting Mulaney's dad the the toupée party and John instinctively reached towards his phone in his jacket. It was on his mind the whole time.

Is Mulaney where Drew Gooden gets his comedic inspiration? They literally have the same voice/cadence to their punchlines, if I didn't see his face I would easily confuse the two....
Hawa Rahman Drew has said he looks up to John Mulaney before in videos, so yes I suppose
Katie F. Oh I have never seen him say that, but thanks! I would’ve never known, but it makes sense..

The description of the fruit cup is SO accurate.
I'm not... used to John...talking to people..
Look at our boys, listening to Tan's advice.

That little boy seems so surprised by his own questions when he asks them lol
That's because they're not his own questions. Hasan Minhaj is too unrelaxed on this episode to not script everything.
