We are back with another fun Style Selected episode, this time we're turning a basic living room into a wintery holiday/christmas wonderland! We decorated the tree, put up a floating shelf, hung garland and stockings, and more! We love how this makeover turned out - what do you think?

Can't believe Kelsey didn't know IKEA had floating shelves, they're probably one of their oldest products lol. Also pro tip: stuff your stockings with grocery bags or tissue paper; solves the sad flat/flimsy look.
She has such a beautiful home and with both your interior design eyes, you took it up another level to like a model home! Best changes were the wall sconces, the floating shelf and taking those blinds down (wasn't a fan) to swap with curtains. Love the final result, well done 👍
I would love to see a more in depth view of your planning of a room or project, like what software/apps you use, methods, tips etc. I was redoing a room and I tried to create a layout but had know idea what I was doing (it still turned out great though!)
Becky's design incorporates more permanent design aspects which is long term and enhances the room year long. Good decision, even if it seems she picked the design cause besties do bestie things... 😋
You can also fold that top piece of the tree in half to make it shorter
Thats what we did on our tree and it actually worked out better since our star is a little heavy.

Like just ignore the client and it wasn't even good. Kelseys design was so soul less and cold like girl...just stand outside during winter then lol.
She went with the vibes of the artwork on the wall.

The hack to a really magical looking tree is to have a strand of lights with larger faceted bulbs in the same color as your usual lights but wrapped deep in the tree around the tree trunk. They give such a depth of sparkle, it’s extra beautiful in photos.

Rowan Ward Thanks! I did it once by chance and it looked so magical I do it every year now! People always ask what lights I use, but any of the faceted ones should work. Hope it turns out beautiful!

The blinds might not be gorgeous but they’re practical. How’re you going to walk around in your skivies with see through white curtains.
They will have to put the blinds back up or buy some curtains that really work !
Yeah I was confused by the choice of curtains. A thicker curtain would give privacy and feel cosier than the thin floaty one
Rhiannon Louise I wish they used the opportunity to buy a rich deep colour, since the homeowner wanted cozy and romantic. Like a velvet would have been 👌🏻

I’ve been wanting to remove my vertical blinds and move my curtain rod higher in my living room and now I feel very motivated to do so. Love the makeover!
Just make sure you buy curtains long enough to reach the floor from where ever you place the rod. When curtains stop a few inches above the floor it looks terrible like high-water pants.
@@lestranged haha no worries i actually already had long enough curtains. Right after this video I actually did remove my blinds and hang my curtains higher. It looks so nice.

I went out to a thrift store today and was able to pick up a small christmas tree with fiber optic lights that cost me 5$ and I was able to put my ornaments that I got last year on sale and voila I was able to do it on a budget. I love when things come together like that I tell you. :)

I put up our new Christmas tree Thanksgiving night... just waiting for him to notice it....lol It's white instead of green and usually he'd have been up the old one by now, so I don't know if he is just lulling me into a sense of security so he can attack when it will surprise me more, or if the tree being white has made him leery of it.
Teach them not too ! I tought my cat wuth a spray bottle. I hated doing it but it was to keep her safe. Ive had her now for 12 years and she has been the sweatest cat ive ever had !

I "taught" my cats to not touch the tree using the spray bottle. Except they're smarter (or dumber) than I thought and now they just don't do it when I'm around. As soon as I'm out of the room they mess with it 😂

Thanks girls for going this series. Christmas is my fave time of the year so I’m watching Christmas videos because I’m going through a tough time in my life: battling depression after losing my mum, lost my job and going through a breakup. These videos are really cheering me up. I think I might just decorate my house for Christmas in July (just for fun) since I’m still stuck in the house thanks to Rona

I made the mistletoe, just like yours. But I used my sewing machine and made very blatant white stitching around the greenery, and out of all my DIY ornaments/Christmas projects, it's one of my favorites!
Everything looks so pretty, loved the diy mistletoe but Beckys velvet leggings were my fav!!!

Me too, smelling stuff is vital in xmas-time, so many delish scents. But my weakness is hyacinths - I could sniff those like degenerates sniff glue.. Horror story: my granny lost her sense of smell all together, she had very intense flu and her nose just didnt recover.. Food loses its taste, its awful. But thats pretty rare tho, hopefully you get better soon, before hyacinth-time :)

rimbluebooks - Omg, glad shes okay.. thats so scary! In Finland theres very few houses that use gas, so I didnt even think about how dangerous it could be. Now granny just puts on way too much perfume, bless her. How crazy that we both have “noseless” grannies, since its really not that ordinary!
And I totally forgot about glogg, when I thought about wonderful xmas scents! It might be a nordic thing, idk, but I think the closest thing might be mulled wine. I wish I could send some to you, its the perfect hot beverage in flu! And one of the very few things you can smell trough stuffy nose, much like gingerbread cookies. Take care of yourself, drink lots of hot fluids and rest a lot, so your sniffer (and the rest of you, off course) gets better soon!

even though she gave permission, i’d be so pissed if someone removed my blinds. i had only curtains for the longest and hated it so much but never got blinds because they were so expensive if you want some nice ones. but i finally got them this year (and my bank account cried a little) but i can’t imagine life without them lol that part made me NOPE so hard. #teamnocurtains

I always think it’s so interesting when you guys add curtains like these to give the room a cozy vibe, especially since thin white curtains like that are the opposite of cozy to me! Idk why but they just seem more like cool/breezy and not cozy at all!
You can twist in the star on the tree in to the branch so you won't see the wire and it would make it more sturdy
No one ever picks Kelsey's design, but they're always 🔥🔥 the natural/ neutral design is exactly how I want to decorate!

I would love to see more of you both decorating your own homes for Christmas. I have two trees already up and of course, they were up before Thanksgiving. My bedroom is decorated with lighted garland and a big bow in the center of the headboard. I have a wooden toolbox that my nephew made for me. It has lights, greenery and cardinals in it. It is just the right touch in our bedroom. My living room has a village in the bay window and the tops of my tables have decorative pieces on them.
Down in my family room is my 2nd tree. It is all decorated down there too. It's my favorite season and was always made special by my Mom for us when we were kids.

Most designed Christmas decorating I've seen online is impersonal and cold, but this is so cozy and homey!
DIY hack for Christmas...make popcorn balls wrap in cling wrap and tie with red ribbon. Better hack: just shape popcorn to look like popcorn balls and do the same since actual popcorn balls will be gross by Christmas. Presto: white/cream colored balls for the tree.
Happy New Year girls! I love this video, super job, and it just looks so put together, I love the red and white theme, and the pops of color throughout the room. Those vintage ornaments are such a beautiful red and the box has my name on it so I'm kinda partial to them. Love the sconces on each side of the shelf and that shelf just adds that extra something that can be used after the tree is down. The white curtains give that bright fresh addition and taking down the blinds was a good idea. Great makeover, thanks again, see you in the next video, bye for now.

The lack of red by the window bothers me slightly. I like symmetry and it is just white white white over there. Maybe some red pom pom garland to drape across the curtain rod or some big fluffy red and white floor pillows to add more plush and substance. It does indeed look cozy though. I like the juxtaposition of the cool toned winter pictures and the dark furniture with the bright pops of white and red. TSG made it happen!
