How long does the base coat take to dry? How long does it take for each top coat to dry? I have been waiting a half hour between coats, should I just test with my finger?
Each coat drying time gets a little longer because it isn't soaking into the fabric. So, the first coat of gum tragacanth usually dries the fastest - maybe 15-20 minutes. The final coats of color are probably closer to 40 minutes-will also depend on humidity when using it as well for drying time.
It is a personal preference on this one. Just be aware that the colors may not be exact match if you don't. This would be due to wear and general fading. Happy Sewing!!
Thank you for watching and commenting! That is a great idea and can't believe we didn't think of it with this new product line. Thanks for suggesting this and we will definitely look into this! Have a great day!
Thanks for watching and asking your question. We have found through our sample testing that the 3 layer of gum base and 3 layers of color works very well without a top coat. Happy Sewing!
Thank you for watching and asking your questions! Yes you can certainly apply this to cork in addition to the faux leather. The purpose is to give your edges a nice sealed off finish. You can find this sealed off edging in many designer handbags. Please let us know if you have any other questions! Have a great day. :)
Sorry it was not working! Please try it now. :) Thank you so much for watching! sallietomato.com/blogs/blog/creating-polished-bag-finishes-with-edge-kote

When you are redoing the edge, should you remove all of them before applying the edge kote? Or just apply on the area that has split?

So 3 layers of the gum base product, 3 layers of color and that’s it? No need for any top coat? I’m new to all of this!

I am new to bag making. What is the purpose of edging the faux leather or leather? Do you apply it to cork also?

Will light sanding help with the laser cut edges before application?
Thanks for watching and asking your question. It might help a little but not by much.

Can you use gum tragacanth on cork edges?
@ValerieBarrera-pc6td thank you! Can you use it as a base coat for color paint as well? I'm planning on doing some experimenting with it.
@@HandmadebyAlicia yes you apply it first and it allows your color to be applied smoother.
Do you have to sand beyond the base coat?
Thanks for watching and asking your question! Yes you can lightly sand between the coats to smooth out the finish.
