I love the "last supper" tabletop painting behind the looser couch! Great show, so glad you got another series. This show is bringing people closer in an age when we only communicate through tech. Great work Will!
this could EASILY be the plot of an adventure time episode. a giant? a swamp giving birth to a fire muse? named STEVE? thermal nuclear war? it fits perfectly
Or that he defined the swamp to be dead and like a graveyard and then everyone kept reviving the parent. Like those deceiving companions, that were sent by the parent, because the dead parent wanted to look after its child? No one was paying attention :D
For sure, though I feel like that's a combination of not being used to using 'parent' in the singular and mistaking their 'they' pronouns for a plural.
Funnily enough, Wil's description of Cinderella is less gruesome than the Grimm's Fairy Tale version. The Grimm version involves self-mutilation, being blinded by birds, and other terrible things.
I agree this is not a type of game most people would love, but this stands as another fun episode of Tabletop! Great fun just watching you all play. Makes my work day go faster. Can't wait for the next ep!
"Hello Doc Wyatt. Shall we play a game?" "Love to. How about 'Fighting.' Wouldn't you prefer a good game of 'Fighting?'" "Later, let's play 'Global Thermonuclear War.'"
i know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
I love TableTop! I watch it all the time. I applauded you Will Wheaton. This is actual the first show on RUclips I started watching. And if this ever gets to you Will, just want you to know that I'm in college to be a game designer and in one of my classes I have to make a table top game. Watching your show made me think of two great games. Thank you and your whole team. Please keep making episodes!
[24:26] Mike could have totally won with those cards. "And when Frank and Steve arrived at the well, They discovered a dying woman. It was the PRINCESS of the KINGDOM who was once IMPRISONED for being UGLY. But she was so ugly her jailers had left her go free instead of having to keep her confined, for they could not stand to look at her. Angry over her predicament, she had purchased a barrel of WINE from the four companions sent by Steve's parents in order to drink her troubles away. 'I am POISONED!' she exclaimed, and accused the four companions of selling her the poisoned wine. Frank, became enraged and CAST THE TINY FIENDS DOWN THE WELL." Fin.
***** I'm sad to say that is not the case as if you watch through-out the video you can see her holding them REALLY tightly in her hand bending and warping them, plus most other peoples cards they put down weren't bent at all and especially not to that degree
only this show could make it say "aww" when he mentioned a hug between a robot giant and a fire muse that makes me think of the fire from howls moving castle. ...cute couple.
I don't know this game at all, but I'm pretty sure Amy cheated when she threw down the sad card :( wil didn't even mention how frank or steve was feeling and she just kinda threw it down to steal the win from him. Also, gaahhh she bends the cards soooo much! stahp it!
It literally says in the rules (I have the game) that you cannot predict the storyteller , even if you are 99% certain as to what they will say , you cannot play your card until they say it.
Wil: Thank you, and I am so sorry it took so long to find this channel. My family and I watched this video over dinner last night, and everyone loved the story. Thank you!
Love this game. The last time I played it, I had an ending that needed a last man standing. My friend had an ending that needed two people. And, as luck would have it, we had a fist full of interrupts and cards that matched what the other person was saying. So, for a while there, I kept wrestling the story from him and killing off the extra character, and he'd grab it back and introduce another character!!! Everyone else watched like it was a tennis match. Craziest story ever and had us in stitches!!!! Never before have we had a fairy tale with so many long-lost relatives and such a vast graveyard!!!! Another time, my friend's 4-year-old daughter insisted on playing it her way. She grabbed the deck and proceeded to create her own story. "There was a [frog] and a [prince] by a [hill] in the [lake] with a [wagon] and a [tree] with a [wish]..." Totally adorable! Wil, thank you so much for choosing to introduce this game to a wider audience. It's fun to play with all ages and easy to adapt the rules to make it fun for the group.
If you don’t have a speech impediment, just keep practicing. It’s like anything else you do with your muscles - it won’t happen immediately, but it can be learned.
I did not think it was a problem either, the Giant could have had to change cloths when crossing the desert or traveling thru the night. I think he forgot about the giant.
I enjoyed this one the most.. i am a paragraph roleplayer and love to create stories and bring the world to life, especially medieval stuff. Great job guys!
it's okay it is not really a competitive game like he said... otherwise you could just easily kill the characters other players made and install your own characters who have nothing to do with the original story to steer the story your way. but i don't know if that is a legal move. or you can just make new characters and start talking about them which would start a new story almost....
I LOVED this episode. It totally reminded me of how my cousins and I used to share stories, and the stylized border was awesome. I really enjoyed this episode.
LoL poor wil, he just can't catch a break :p Also, Amy, grats on the winning and all... But if you bent up my cards like that I would throw you the fuck out of my house...
Well if you want to be a pedant it DOES ruin the game, as it damages the cards, this means the cards become marked and with repeated games people can learn which cards are marked in what way, giving them an edge and potentially ruining the game for the people they play with. And yes, people CAN help it, unless you have some kind of disability, it's not hard to just be gentle when you use the cards. I have big sausage fingers, I still manage not to bend the cards as I play them.
I remember this game! My parents played it when I was a kid and I loved listening to the stories thay made with their friends. I could never remember what it was actually called but now I know.
I might have missed something in the intro. But, what stops a player from starting a story, playing all their cards, and winning on turn one? I mean, I'm fairly decent at making sense out of nothing. Just the chance at interrupts? I don't own the game, but are there enough cards to make sure that someone is able to interrupt? Words are pretty limitless with what you can come up with. And, read in the comments people saying Amy cheated with play the sad card. Is it because she kind of forced Wil into it? I mean, Wil was leaning in that direction, but didn't say it. Thanks!
I own the game & have played it a few times. It is in fact possible to win turn one, but rather difficult, especially if the other players are on the ball. I mean, even you get a great hand that goes well with your ending, which doesn't often happen or at least isn't immediately apparent to you, there are the other players with two ways to interrupt, as well as ways to call you out. Like stated in this game, if you start to ramble too much & go a long time without playing a card, you may be forced to pass, or if you contradict something that's been stated in the story earlier whether it's your own contribution or no. For instance, as they failed to notice until the end (HAHA) Doc should have passed when he said the swamp parent was alive, because Mike had just stated that they had died during the war & that the swamp was basically a graveyard. xD Also, rules say that if enough of the other players agree, you can call someone out for being *too* absurd, but I suppose that depends on who you're playing with. xD And Wil was going for sad on his own, Amy was just ready for it. xD There were other moments where the leading was much worse, such as Doc trying to get Amy to say "fight" or something similar. I'm not sure if that's in the rules or not, I would have to read through again, but that may be another thing that differs from game to game. :D Hope that was helpful & not too long-winded. :)
I've never played the game and had it been this cooperative. Usually people use the interrupt cards (the cards specifically designed to interrupt the story based on the storyteller's card type, as opposed to needing to match the exact word) a whole lot more. I've never seen anyone make it through their while hand without someone else hijacking the story, either with the exact card or an interrupt. Plus, the other players are trying to get you to say their cards or add details that work toward their endings, which sidetrack you, leading toward more ummms and uhhhhs and rambling. My friends and I play that you can't go more than three to four sentences without a card, either, so that makes it harder.
Yeah it all comes down to people playing the interrupt cards based on the same type that prevents you from finishing the story in one hand, but you need proactive players and none of these guys were.
There are quite a fair number of interrupts, so going more explicit can make a difference. Not to mention interrupting when someone plays a card of a specific type that matches one of your own. The game is certainly more fun if the players are more willing to get involved with the story and make it more convoluted. There's nothing stopping you from playing all your cards, but... if you're playing all your cards quickly then it isn't exactly "fun" for anyone involved (There was a [Princess] who lived in a [Castle] and was taken away by a [Dragon] one day. She needed a [Knight] to save her, and he went to the [Dungeon] to do just that. [Ending card]). I just assumed you'd meant it might be easy to splurge through your own cards quickly if you wanted to rush to the end :p
When I was a young kid, I took a creative writing course and had to write a fairy tale. I wrote a story called The Three Robot Pigs. Your comment on robots in fairy tales reminded me of that. Ah, childhood memories.
I don't know who the cards belonged to but if I was playing a game like this with my friends and one of them was holding their card so tightly they were bending them, I might lose my shit at them. Like every card you put down is bent, don't you think you should try not to do that!
agreed, i have friends who do this sort of thing with my games, it's the most disrespectful thing to do when invited to play a game, and if you call people on it they look at you like you're being unreasonable.
This makes me kind of sad that I don’t have any friends; creative enough to play these sorts of games with (to put it politely.) So it always puts a smile on my face and gives me some laughs when I watch these, thanks.
Am I the only one enough of a Legion of Super-Heroes geek (among other reasons) to be severely bothered by them wanting to put Frank into a robot body instead of Steve?
did anyone else notice amy herself said frank was sad? i mean he could have been angry ;3 Wil didnt say what he was feeling on his turn she shouldnt have changed the story lol but its all for fun :P
Seriously. that Amy lady bent the living shit out of all those cards!
It hurt and the most deepest level of my soul to see her mangling the cards.
Ditto.
I agree, and her stories were also crap.
KARENS bent cards like angry ants
Seeing what she's done to her cards hurts my soul more than a little bit.
your soul must be very fragile if some one elses cards messes with you

. . . well that story got dark fast!
Well... It's like Shingeki no Kyojin but you add Gundam technology so the nuke war would fit. XD

2) Plastic: ✘ (What? You thought there'd be plastic? Are you crazy!?)
lol Wil
Global thermal nuclear war!!!!!!! Ha ah ah ah!!!
The original Rapunzel let down her pubic hair.
I am so annoyed with how much Amy was bending the cards.
dear god you're right
I'm glad I'm not the only one that was getting annoyed by that, everytime she put down a bent card I cringed.
That was bothering me for about forever. >=(
lol xD
I'd have been having serious words with her about that >.< These games cost MONEY, people!

MollieJ90 Maybe we would hear more about Dr Hanna.
Wil should do this again and invite Matt Mercer needs to play Once Upon a Time. :D
Yesssssssssssssssssss but Matt would've murdered them
Matt would look at his cards and all play them straight in one golden rush.
Amy Berg is just absolutely wrecking those cards :|.

Amy you wrecked the cards AND cheated and used the "sad" card even though it's not an interrupt
It doesn't have to be an interrupt card if it's specifically mentioned in the current narrator's story.

How is that clothes card be a problem, maybe the fire muse want to be normal and doing simple as wearing/trying clothes

the treasure at the bottom of the well is a pair of magical clothes that would make steve not burn frank?

How many frackin cards is she going to bend up?! It was driving me crazy, I had to say it...

Man, there are so many awesome games that i didn't know existed.

did anyone else notice amy herself said frank was sad? i mean he could have been angry ;3 Wil didnt say what he was feeling on his turn she shouldnt have changed the story lol but its all for fun :P
nice intro. it got me hooked to watch the rest of the video. good work.
I would love a certificate for Greatest Recursive Kitchen.
Comedic timing of the music, priceless.
OMg Amy stop bending the cards
So annoying
Ugh
I love The Last Game picture on the brick wall in the background ;) Awesome!
I cringe at the way she treated those cards... Absolutely destroyed them!
I am from Albuquerque, and I approve this video.
I think this game would be improved by throwing some cards against humanity cards into the mix.
Omg most awesome words put together... "Deepest darkest the deep dark forests"
XD
Stop ruining the cards Amy Berg!!!!
I can't thumb this up enough. I... I... Thank you so much. I laughed. So hard.
