Thank you for sharing these options for free patterns. All your makes look fabulous! I have made the Closet Core Tee but I think I will try the Monroe Tee and the Harper Cardigan as yours looks beautiful in the double sided fabric!! Take care
Thanks for these suggestions, Cara. It's always helpful to learn about free patterns as it always helps to learn about new companies. I haven't made it yet but the Tilda blouse by Maison Fauve is a beautiful free pattern too 😊
Free patterns are so good to test how you like the block used and the instructions of a new to you company, thanks for your great suggestions. Love your Harper Cardigan on you, colour looks great on camera. When I had my colours done I was told to add a scarf/collar if your unsure if its a colour that's you so that colour isn't up to your neck/face, so possible you could try that trick if you feel you need something ☺ Congratulations on reaching 10K 🎉
Hi Cara, I live in Australia but love your choices, even tho we going into full summer already (that’s what it feels like, anyway). Just wanted to say that I love the photo and the amazing portrait sketch of your precious fur baby. Her (?) character has been very well captured - I love that. That picture must be a great comfort to you- looks like she is wanting to tell you something exciting. What a beautiful tribute ❤❤
I made the tessuti monroe turtleneck. Both this and the Mandy boat tee are two of my favourite patterns. However a couple of things to note for both. The sleeve openings are a bit tight. I had to add about an inch to the sleeve width where it joins the body and adjusted the armhole opening too. My first one had really tight sleeves. Also on the monroe the neck opening and the neck band were a bit tight. I ended up cutting it off and making the neck opening bigger and the neck band longer. It then was more comfortable to wear. Finally, the body of both patterns is really oversized, and you can size down on that part easily.
Love the Harper cardigan. Just been to sew Brum and got some fabric just for that. Thank you so much for all the information lots of patterns I am going to make. Thank you Cara you so brighten my day. Xx
Love a free pattern and immediately went and downloaded the Elemental pencil skirt as I just loved your outfit and I would love to make something similar. I think I may use the TATB Nora as the top as I think the slightly cropped style stepped hem would look good and give me a bit of bum coverage 😆 Have had the Harper cardigan for ages but not got round to making it but now I am inspired to cut one out and get sewing ! Love to see you beautiful whippets making an appearance 😍🐾🐾
Thank you for the recommendations of all those free patterns. I have been looking for a batwing jumper pattern and you found me a free one. What a winner.
Well I’m first up today! Thanks for all those suggestions and ,as you say ,a great introduction to new (to me) pattern companies. Have subscribed on and off to several you tubers but always come back to you Cara. Great work keep it up
Great collection of free patterns and some new pattern companies, too. The yoga pants look really comfy and I like the poncho from Mood. Love your Elemental skirt and top co-ord sets. Happy sewing, Cara.
Thank you for this well researched video, Cara. There were many new to me patterns. I love all of your makes...so elegant and stylish. Have a great week.
Thanks very much for this Cara, a brilliant selection of patterns, really useful for autumn. Just finished a Monroe turtleneck, and on to a Harper cardigan. Thanks also for the tip about using prittstick to put printer patterns together ( not this video) - sooooo much easier! 🎉
Your long cardigan looks amazing! I can see how I would wear something like that a lot. Seems like a comfy, casual, yet elevated way to stay warm. Seriously jealous of the fabric options you all have over there. I am in Virginia and besides chain stores that offer little selection, the closest decent fabric store is an hour away. And I keep striking out when I order online. Anyway, thanks for all the fun, useful content you keep bringing 😊
Ah I’m sorry to hear that your options are limited, that must be super frustrating, I’m glad I can provide a distraction 😊 lovely to hear from you thank you
Good morning Cara! It really is amazing how many quality sewing patterns are available for free. Out of your list I own 7! I'm very good at collecting them but very bad at making them up. Other than the Grenadine skirt, I haven't tried any. I did pull out my Harper last week to finally make it, ugh, but then saw it is still in a million pdf pages yet to be taped. It's become a luxury to get the A0 files printed. In the US it has become so expensive with the postage significantly adding to that expense. After seeing your snuggly, cozy Harper, I need to pull up my big girl pants and just get to taping! 😆Have a great week and thank you for the inspiration!
lol you do make me smile Rita! 30 pages of pdf will take moments! Use a glue stick over overlap the pages, no need to cut anything therefore it’s super quick 😅
Many Thanks Cara - a lot of research and inspiration for sure . I have a few of those patterns but you have reminded me of more that I need to download e.g Harper cardigan. Happy Sewing😊 . Lynne
I love your selection of free patterns. The LB Pullover with the Sew House Seven skirt is beautiful together. And, the cream set looks great with the Harper Cardigan. Great video as always. And, congrats on passing 10K. 👏🤗❤️
I'm amazed that there's a whole waistcoat pattern for free from Maison Fauve! Downloaded that one to keep on standby to sew up for spring/summer in a linen fabric ❤
Morning Cara, thank you for such a great vlog. I’m always looking for new pattern ideas. I have the Jalie Emilie sweater pattern, it’s very similar to the Monroe turtleneck but the sleeves aren’t so tight. I found them quite long though but that’s an easy fix 💞💞
Hello Cara... Excellent vlog and thank you as always for your enthusiasm and knowledge. I'm in Australia atm but heading back to Spain soon to enjoy the mild autumn and winter months loaded down with fabrics from Spotlight... I will be sewing at least three of your suggestions so this vlog was perfectly timed. Love your dogs and I can't wait to be reunited with my dear Rosie ❤ Oh and you're so close to having 10k subscribers... I'm so pleased for you 😊
Hi Cara, you are so inspiring 😊🤩 How did you learn to sew…to do dressmaking? I am 56 and starting all over again. Due to memory loss some years ago, I am having to start from scratch and really want to make my own clothes. But I don’t know where to start? I have just bought myself a new sewing machine and overlocker…but I’m a bit overwhelmed about learning to use them. Compared to my machine 30 years ago, it looks like it can make coffee 😂Even though it’s only a Brother Heavy Duty FS110X. So hardly top shelf model. Would love your advice on where to begin with sewing lessons. If you get a chance to read this. 🙏🙏❤️
Hi, it’s lovely to hear from you, wow how exciting to do something new! It’s so good for us, my advice would be just to enjoy whatever project you start with and embrace all elements of learning, including frustration and mistakes . What helped me, as I’m self taught, only sewing for 8 years, is to keep the end in mind, so fabric and patterns of clothes that I am inspired to wear. Even just basis t shirts, RUclips is a wonderful source of learning, enjoy x
Thank you for such a wonderful video. I have the Maison Fauve waistcoat pattern, (I think you recommended it during sew frugal) but I’m not very experienced and I’m a bit scared! Do you know any tutorials or sew-alongs I could use to help me? Thank you ❤
Hi it’s lovely to hear from you, the great thing about @maisonfauve is that all the patterns come with full sew alongs available on RUclips, you’ll just need to add captions and auto translate to English, you could watch this and see the whole process, enjoy
Great video Cara! Could you include the link for that Heather sweater? I’ve never heard of that company either! I’ve made several peppermint wide leg pants and many Harper cardigans. They are both so good!
I have made a couple Harper cardigans, it's a great pattern. I have just downloaded the Heather sweater. Re the Maison Fauve short skirt, would it work in a faux leather do you think?
Hiya no that pattern isn’t free now, I just happened to be wearing it with the harper cardigan which is. The LB pattern was free as part of an offer last year, but it’s not part of my suggestions in this video I’m just wearing it

Thank you so much, Cara! I’ve saved this vlog to refer to for free patterns (had this on whilst cooking dinner!) ❤😊
Yay thank you
Thank you! As usual, another great video. I especially appreciate your eternally cheery disposition and how you dress up for us ☺️
That’s very kind of you thank you ☺️

Hi Sue, yes the Harper definitely can be made from quilted fabric, that would be very special I think
