    Came across an old video called we will retire early in 2024.
    You made it in 2021.I thought future you is so happy. Well done.

      Thank you!! We really are so happy! It was a lot of work, but we made it, and everything was worth it in the end!

    BINGO! I see this every single day among my close friends/family. I feel like yelling “you feel broke but you smoke, drink and buy so much useless sh*t!” Layaway - I remember that too. Another super video, guys! 😊

      Ahhh, thanks, Tracy! We see the same with some of our friends too 🙂

      Don’t sweat it, learn that these people are the ones that will be super angry and secretly jealous of you when you retire. The best thing you can do is to zip it, better yet not even tell them about your plans.

      😉 excellent plan!

    I would eat half the marshmallow and keep the other half for the next day , I often do this when I buy a pastry. It gives me instant gratification and the impression that I had two, it's ridiculous but it works! 😂I balanced spending and saving so it took me longer to reach FI, and I wouldn't change it because those experiences enriched me in different ways. I'm totally with you on mindful spending, and being intentional with our money (and time).

      😆🤗 Love that you would eat half of the marshmellow!! I don't have a weakness for marshmallows... but now chocolate... I'd have a hard time leaving that one alone!

    Totally agree. Adults are able to delay their gratification. Most children are not capable.

      So true. A little delayed gratification as adults can really pay off in the end! Thanks for reaching out 😊

    Depends on what it is and how bad you need it. Online stores have also trained us to put items in our cart and wait, because they will send an offer to try to get you to buy. But if it's something that's hard to find or more expensive later, I don't wait. And if it's an emergency like medical care or safety, you tend not to shop around or wait for a better deal. If I'm in pain or the toilet is overflowing, I don't think twice about the price. That's why I have a budget and an emergency fund.

      @FIREWeGo  Месяц назад

      Of course, emergencies are definitely not a wait and see situation. Like you, that's why we also have an emergency fund.
      For this video, we were talking more about discretionary spending. 🤗

    The sound is so different between your 2 voices. Perhaps recording in a smaller, less empty room and/or positioning the mic between you evenly or better yet a wear-able mic for each of you would be better. I really like your videos. Your information is interesting and practical. You’re not preachy or disparaging. Thanks for putting out videos that are helpful and encouraging.

      We are so sorry about the audio on this one! Unfortunately we only realized once we were editing that Gean's mic had run out of battery! :) Thank you so much for all of your support and feedback, we really love hearing from you! And we are so happy that the videos are useful :)

    I also so the marshmallow clip as a metaphor for early retirement. We can hang on for a full pension or another hundred thousand in the retirement account, or we can willingly be satisfied with just "one marshmallow". Best scenario, everyone is happy with their decision!
    Over spending and over eating are similar. Over eating doesn't require a diet. It requires a lifestyle change that must be maintained. I'm happy for you that you made that change in your financial approach.

      Love this! That is a great way of seeing early retirement. Sometimes it's better to go with what is ready and in front of you! You don't always know what the future holds, and it can be uncertain, so sometimes it's better to take the one marshmallow and retire early! 🤗😊

    I don’t know what happened. Like we have to do something every week. Go to a festival or party or any gathering then stop by the store or eat somewhere. It gets expensive.

      Somewhere along the line, our mentality shifted, and that shift really can add up! 🤗 We hope you're having a great week and thanks for reaching out!

    Excellent video guys 🎉😊! I loved the marshmallow clip 😀. I would be the kid who ate the marshmallow because I can't wait to eat it. 😂 I love them. Seriously, I did have to learn this habit of waiting to enjoy certain things until I paid a bill off first. This is NOT easy but it must be done in order to get out of debt. Great video🎉😊!!!

    I love that marshmallow test, too cute 😂 ... but for me, I'd have a stack of them in front of me and still wouldn't eat them, but chocolate may be a different story 😅 Yes, I agree, as kids going out for dinner or lunch was reserved for special occasions. Love your videos, so relaxed and thought provoking 🌻Have a fabulous week 😊

      Ahhh, thank you so much. We really appreciate all of the support and feedback! Kristine is the same as you. Marshmallows wouldn't be an issue... but chocolate would be gone in a split second!

    I have seen the marshmallow video before. I would have smelled it and possibly licked it. They would have had to keep it short to keep me (as a child) from eating it. Now it wouldn't be a problem--I would close my eyes. BUT--if they did a hot fudge sundae, I would have been toast!

    • @FIREWeGo
      @FIREWeGo  Месяц назад +1

      Lol....I would also be lost if it was any type of chocolate!! I (Kristine) have a massive chocolate weakness! 🙄🫣
