      Thank you! You are very correct. Mike and I are trying to make our second careers here, after our jobs ended abruptly as "international traveling repairmen" & they don't seem to be coming back. The commercials barely cover our monthly internet access fees, so donations are very appreciated. If we could collet $20/year from each subscriber we would remove all commercials. Less than $2/month will help feed a man-child. LOL

      @@FloridaVanMan Shoot, $20 a year is nothing for what you guys do. I only sent $5 after watching this video and felt like I low balled it. My thoughts was if everyone that watched it and it helped them in any form, it should be worth $5. If it helped them a lot, then they should give much more. When I watched the video that got my van running after two years, I think I sent $150.
      That wouldn’t have even covered my tow bill to the dealership which is the only place within a 2 hour drive that I could have gotten it worked on.
      That being said, if others did the same when you pulled them out of a jam, all would be right with the world.

      Was the package opened when you bought the meter? I'm recently reading many reports of folks getting stuck right there and it seems the issue is the dongle is already bound to another account. Autel tech support can* clear that binding but getting them to do it takes the right mix of kindness and desperation. The techs and the sellers are both independent third parties to the manufacturer, so the approach of "You made or sold this now make it work!" gets nowhere. Appeal to their sympathy asking for help with our* problem. Making it their* problem won't work at all and I suspect that is a cultural difference.

    New to the forum and glad to be learning more. I have a 2005 tall roof, 158 in. T1N. I think this scanner will be a great learning tool. My question is all these sensors have values. What I don't know is what are the acceptable values for each sensor? Where is a list of those values? Otherwise it's just numbers without context. Another question. The AP200 seems to come in multiple models, which model is the best for a T1N? Thank you for a great video.

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Месяц назад

      The AP200 is what we want, not AP200m, AP200c or AP200h, just AP200. There is no list of what the good values will be. There are too many variables for that kind of list to work without misleading folks. Think of it like a blood pressure cuff and thermometer. I don't know what my pressure should be but I can discuss it with my doctor online without visiting his office to have my vitals checked. My age, weight and diet all effect what "good numbers" are, as well as a few other things. Similarly, your vans best vitals will differ based on altitude, temperature and a few other things.

    Excellent video! I have been chasing down a general sluggishness and was legit giddy watching this video as I suspect I may have similar issue. Question for you though: when I go to live data stream in my ap200, 270 EGR is not an option. I do have an 03 OM612. Additionally, my mb Carsoft II is not allowing me to read live data for common rail. Do you have any ideas why that might be the case?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  5 месяцев назад

      The OM612 has less OBD function and doesn't have the ability to get the EGR value stuck at 6% like the OM647. I've not had an OM612 to experiment with for some time, so I'm not sure if viewing the EGR value is possible.

    What would be the best and most affordable scanner that can reset all the error codes etc.? I picked up an AP200+ (I guess the latest updated one) and the thing said there were NO problems with my sprinter. LOL My mechanic's Snap-On scanner showed a BUNCH of error codes. Disconnecting the batter for any amount of time doesn't clear anything, so I would like one that would clear codes after changing or repairing things.

    • @FloridaVanMan

      The temperatures ranges can vary. As Transmission and Engine oil are both cooled along with engine coolant, whatever the dash temperature shows should be close to what the temperatures are.
      On my van, once warmed up, if my dash temp is around 189ºF, my oil temperature is usually around 194º-200ºF and transmission oil temperature is usually around the same. I've also seen it go as high as 210ºF when I was REALLY pushing it in some hot weather. Cheers!

    • @FloridaVanMan

      Some vans yes, some vans no. If I leave it in my daily driver over night the van won't start and the Autel light stays on. In some vans the Autel seems to shut itself off after 30 minutes and the light goes out. I need to unplug it and reseat the Autel to restart it, so leaving it plugged in has no advantage. I've also thought about leaving it on all the time for extra dash monitors. :(

      Van did this to me intermittently before but now it’s permanent. I also had fuse box 1 changed and checked the ecm relay.

      @@handyvoice3943 A few ideas: We have seen the wires behind the fuse block tied into for accessory power. This is NOT the right place to do this and those who choose this location often do a horrible job of making good connections. The ignition switch is the smaller connection to the back of the fuse block with 6 - 8 wires in a rectangular plug. if those are spliced, ensure they are making good contact. In the linked video you'll notice 3 pins should* have power. One of them failing will cause the start error message, another will cause the fan to come on, and yet the other one does not present itself uniquely, just doesn't crank. Sort of... but not really. If the van has no codes at all, you can safely bet they have recently been cleared. One would expect a good running van would not have any *current codes, but it will have *stored codes until they are erased. Stored codes will tell you what the odometer was at when the code kicked, giving clue the codes have not been cleared in X miles.

Many of the older code readers and DAS connections came with cabling options to connect to these vehicles, pre OBD standard or not USA standards.
