  • After less than 1000 miles my Dorman OPDA started to leak oil out of the upper housing. The Oil leak wasn't massive, but just enough to make a mess on the side of my engine. It still functioned perfectly well and I had no engine codes, I just noticed a few drips of oil on the garage floor and traced it to the OPDA. Luckily the part has a lifetime warranty, so it was replaced under warranty.

Hey Dave- I got the same problem on my opda. It was replaced just before I got this particular LJ by a little dealer. I suspect he used the Dorman. It was fine for a few months, but started really leaking lately. Unfortunately I can't warranty it, but I thought you might want to know you aren't all alone.

Kirby Neely - thanks for the comment. Since I made this video there have been several documented catastrophic failures of Dorman OPDAs. If yours is a Dorman, I’d suggest replacing it right away with a Crown unit.
