Repairing Corroded Sliding Patio Door Track with Stainless Steel Track Cap

This video shows the process for adding a stainless steel cap over corroded aluminum sliding door track. The installation was complicated because the door was part of a 4 panel system with two fixed windows outboard of the sliding door panels. In order to remove the doors, the fixed panels would have to be removed first, and since all of the fasteners holding the fixed panels in place were severely corroded it would have made the job a much more substantial project. Because of this we opted to simply lift the doors off the track and slide the new stainless steel cap over the track. I recognize that there will be further corrosion of the track over time due to the dis-similar metals involved.
